Subject is pretty self explanatory. Favorite Heel Turns and why.
3. HBK in 2005 - If you read the Internet at the time, perhaps you saw it coming. But if you didn't, like myself, then it was a shocking thing of beauty. The Showstopper and the Hulkster posing for the crowd, feeding off of the live crowd's energy and like THAT.....silence fell. But instead of a needle dropping, all you could hear was some Sweet Chin Music.
2. Kane in 2011 - Words can't express how much I loved this feud, no matter how brief it was. Modern day Undertaker and Kane, yet a very old feeling to their feud. And Paul coming back....oh yes. For about 9 weeks in 2011, it was like it was 1998 again. And as much as I love the Deadman, Kane rightfully deserves the credit.
1. Undertaker in 2000 - If I'm ever explaining to someone what I look for in a Heel turn, I'll tell them one of 2 things. I either want to see it coming, because every cause has an effect. Or I want it to come from out of nowhere. Your Punk vs the People is a great example of the first. Slowly laying each piece of the track, and before you know it you're on a ride. But this turn in 2000 is the perfect example of the second.
He was going to help JR. It's the Underaker. How the hell is Booger Red not going to help JR from Mr. McMahon and his Olympic henchman? Simple. So simple, it only takes one word to explain it. Respect. And you never saw it coming.
How about you people?

Hogan. Greatest heel turn in history no contest imo.
Just realized this is only WWE so id have to go with Austin when he joined the Aliance.

Can we do top 100 heel turns to watch before you die?
Anyway, The Rock joining the Corporation is one of my top picks, definitely. Turning his back on the people really worked for his character.

Barry Windham on Lex Luger in April of 88 Randy Savage on Hulk Hogan in February 89 Shawn Michaels on Marty Jannetty in January of 92 British Bulldog on Diesel in August of 95 Diesel on Shawn Michaels in March of 96 Bret Hart on the country of the USA in March of 97 (Classic stuff from that point on until around Summer Slam for USA vs. Canada stuff) Christian on Edge in September of 2001 Triple H on Shawn Michaels in July of 2002 Evolution on Orton in August of 2004 (I know, technically they were all heels, but that was a great turn on Orton)
Those heel turns definitely had an impact in my love for wrestling. Whether you could see it coming, or whether it was unexpected, they were great heel turns, every single one of them.

It's okay JokerFC, 2001 and 2002 seem to mesh together really for the story lines that were going on once the Alliance vs. WWF feud ended haha

Does Mark Henry's "Retirement" count?
I was a fairly young kid - but when Dusty Rhodes' valet Sweet Sapphire sold out to the Million Dollar Man, it damn near traumatized my young mind... never saw it coming. Too bad they didn't really do anything with it... Sapphire followed DiBiase around for a while wearing a fur coat and carrying a Million Dollar Man "Wrestling Buddy."
I guess the best heel turn ever has to be the evolution of Vince McMahon - from "ringside commentator" to "evil billionaire" was somewhat gradual - but sort of culminated during the Montreal Screwjob...

One of my favorites in recent years. Jericho was fantastic with this heel run.
Probably in the minority with this one, but I thought they could've done more with Shad, rather than release him shortly after this turn.

I was going to mention Triple H turning on X-Pac at WM and Rock turning at Survivor Series because I never saw either coming. Hogan is obviously up there as well.
I thought Tatanka's turn on Lex Luger at SummerSlam 94 was well done, though it didnt lead to anything positive for Tatanka.

Batista in 2009. It felt so realistic and he fit the heel persona with ease. If anything, Batista was more entertaining as a heel than a face. He just looked, sounded, and acted like one.
Daniel Bryan last year. I never expected that a guy like Bryan could play such a convincing heel (this is what happens when you're not part of the IWC). He reminded me so much of the classic heel that you just hate with a passion. And that damn "YES!" chant. WWE struck gold with this heel turn. This has forever shaped Bryan as a main-event player in my eyes.
CM Punk last year. I was so damn stunned when Rock went for the People's Elbow, and BAM! Punk silences the crowd with a flying clothesline and then the GTS. It was the 1000th episode of RAW so you think they would end it on a high note. Even though Punk became a stereotypical heel demanding respect, that turn was beautifully done. Punk told the brutal truth when he was a heel (being second fiddle to John Cena even though he was WWE Champion, Rock waltzing in and getting a title shot). And we got his underrated Tampa promo in January.

Macho Man joining the nWo
Batista in 2009: just based solely on how awesome he was. "I hate you Batista!" "I hate you too!"

He did a great job with the gimmick.

The Coach helping Eric Bischoff. Shocking. Awesome.
Curt Hennig turning on the Horsemen and then slamming the cage door on Flair's head.
