Hey guys,
I'm just watching the SummerSlam 1990 show on YouTube right now and just finished the first match which was The Rockers vs. Power And Glory. Man, the combo of Paul Roma & Hercules were great. They really meshed well together and this is probably one of the rare occasions where they actually won a high profile match. I especially LOVED their double-team finisher, The Power-Plex.
Man, when they hit someone with that, it was OVER and rightfully so. It was devastating. It really was a great tag-team finishing maneuver. So great, it ended up being copied by Lo Down many years later in the "attitude era".
For those that may not have heard of Power And Glory, just watch the clip. The finish starts at 8:55 in the clip.
Surprisingly too, is the pop they got after the match. The crowd was happy they won. It's too bad Power And Glory didn't do much other than that and were eventually fed to The Legion of Doom and they were beat in mere seconds. Power And Glory were a great team and it's too bad they were wasted away. I think they could have made great tag-team champions, even if for a short while, but it was never meant to be.

That SummerSlam was in Philadelphia, so of course Power & Glory were gonna get cheered. The Philly fans - even in 1990 - were 'ECW' like in how they cheered and reacted to things. Philadelphia was so far beyond their time for cheering for the rebels, or bad guys, or guys with true talent.

yup P&G were great IMO.pity Vince lost interest in them....further proof the Rockers were TOTAL jobbers.Vince put all his heel teams over them.

The Rockers and Kane have to be the most high profile jobbers of all time

I absolutely loved Power n' Glory! They were great together but their push was killed way too soon. I'm one of the few in the world that really didn't mind Roma as a Horsemen.

P&G should have done ALOT more. They were both fantastic. One of my all time favorite matches is the 6 man tag from SS 91 - Warlord, P&G vs. Steamboat, Bulldog and Tornado.

The Rockers and Kane have to be the most high profile jobbers of all time 100% agreed.I have always said Kane was just an upper tier jobber.

I wouldn't call Kane a jobber at all. Enhancement talent, YES. But he's far from a jobber. Jobbers don't defeat Steve Austin for the WWF Championship.

fair enough......
he was enhancement talent then.........that lost 90% of the feuds he was involved in.its a credit to Jacobs that he was able to keep this character over with the win loss record he holds.

Well, the same can be said for Chris Jericho now.
Jericho could leave, come back, lose every match he's in, say "I'm Chris Jericho, bay-bay!!" and the fans would still pop like crazy, leave again, come back, do some schtick on the mic', fans pop again, etc, etc.
It takes skill and talent to lose as much as you can and still be over with the fans.

They had the 2 different styles like The Harts but sadly none of their charisma.

I always loved P & G. I also hated the Rockers,so that SummerSlam match was like a gift from Heaven,LOL!
but, seriously, they were an over heel team with a great look and gimmick that rejuvinated the careers of 2 veterans, and the Slickster as the mouthpiece to hide any promo shortcomings. they DEFINITELY should've done a lot more.

definitely one of the best uses of 2 people doing nothing special and become a potential championship team. Love that video of them training, cracks me up - herc "look at the peak!" even though he had virtually no peak on his biceps!!

Seemed like they were on their way until their push was given to the Nasty Boys for whatever reason.

It was good they got a push after years on the undercard but IMO it was nothing more than the Barry Horowitz 1995 push. Just rewarding lower card, going nowhere guys for their loyalty. That they made it and are highly regarded now is the shock to me. Even with a time constraint on the WrestleMania card they were still destined to be a quick loss. They were the S.D. Jones tag team of their WrestleMania.
