I thought that was what his deal was... I just hope that he doesn't leave. I have no problem with him taking time off!

If true, I see RVD back around the Royal Rumble until WrestleMania XXX.

He's taking time off and will be back in a few months most likely. His deal hasn't expired...come on, guys.

His deal is over, he hasn't re-signed. There's no long term contract in place. Will he come back in the future? Maybe. But as of right now he's not under contract. Source; WrestlingObserver.com

I think RVD is on the same type of contract as Brock.

I think RVD is on the same type of contract as Brock. I haven't seen Brock show up on SmackDown! I haven't seen Brock wrestle on RAW. I haven't seen Brock on four consecutive Pay Per Views, hell, possibly not even four Pay Per Views in a year. Not hating on Brock, not saying he should or shouldn't, but those contracts are not the same type.

Whether it be PPV, Raw, Smackdown or whatever, RVD probably said I'll work _______ number of dates for $________. Seems like it's on RVD when he wants to come back next.

His deal hasn't expired... Yes it has. His contract ending this month has been known for quite a while. He's on a Jericho style schedule, where he'll have short stints in WWE then leave for a bit.

None of us now what type of contract he has, what he's agreed too, if he's currently still signed and just allowed off, or if he's done with WWE for now. People need to stop acting like they know, because I don't care what you think, you don't know.

The short-term contract (90 days) he signed to return in the summer has expired, and he hasn't signed a new one yet. Those are the facts. The speculation comes in about when (or if) he will return. Everyone is expecting he will. There has been speculation that he wasn't happy with his run, but RVD himself on Twitter a few hours ago denied them. Which points to him signing with WWE again when he's ready.

Reports now are saying RVD has a very unique contract. He worked 90 days, and now he can take as much time off as he feels like. This deal was made between RVD and HHH and was ok'ed by Vince.
It comes from RVD having a lot of other projects. While he's "out" RVD can even work for another wrestling company, just not on TV.
Guess RVD really is "One of a Kind"

Yea, RVD has a contract where he's gonna work full time in 3 month intervals, taking time off in between Seems like the perfect deal for a guy his age, talent, and spot in the business. He can be used to build up to big PPVs, he can be thrown in any feud and have some great matches...and he won't get stale or overexposed.
I'd bet RVD will be back around the Rumble and stick through Wrestlemania 30

"Speculation" came from people that actually may have an ear in WWE, and even then they could have been wrong and he could still be wrestling right now. I get that dirt sheets etc. have some relevance sometimes, but to act like "I know RVD's contract details because I read them on a dirt sheet" is short sighted. You can't confirm based on anything that RVD won't return next week even though that's not likely. What I'm trying to say is that yes, we all understand that RVD's contract isn't the norm, but none of us know beyond a shadow of a doubt what the details are. Everyone says he had a 90 day deal, and that seems right , but whose to say he didn't sign a 180 day deal with a 30 day break in between. None of us know

We were fully aware he was going to take a lot of time off before he signed, therefore I have no problem with this what-so-ever.
Love how everyone rips on people believing dirt sheets, yet people are arguing when his contract runs out. His contract details aren't going to be so easily available to the public, so if anyone has heard "x amount of matches," "x amount of PPV's," for "x amount of money" that's probably "dirt sheets."

He's still under contract and he'll be back for the Rumble.
Apparently he's allowed to work independent promotions as long as they aren't televised.
