I just watched this match and forgot how brutal and amazing it was. Shane had to have had a concussion. And he was lucky if that's all he had. I put this up there with any HIAC match. Some of the spots were crazy. The countless botched attempts for the belly to belly thru the glass were kinda tough to watch lol. But awesome at the same time. Shane was by far the best non full time wrestler ever. He did things more than half the roster would never do. I always liked Shane and knew he was a fun performer to watch. HE was pretty damn good. I'd like to see him return. Maybe not to the ring, but in some capacity. Especially in the current storyline. But I know he has all his other stuff going on.

There's a great video online where Shane talks about how close they are after that match.

Those botched belly-to-belly suplexes are cringe-worthy, especially when Shane lands right on his damn head. It was still a good match though. Shane always did a bunch of crazy spots in his matches. SummerSlam 2000 is one of my faves.

I love this match and respect the hell out of both even more afterward. A lot of those spots were crazy and that first failed suplex through the glass is nasty as hell.

It was really hard to watch the botched belly-to-belly duplexes through the glass. I remember watching the Confidential video where Angle talked about wanting to stop attempting the suplexes through the glass, but Shane told him to put him through it no matter what.

It was a great match just for how brutal it was. Shane really held his own w/ a great like Kurt and Kurt showed how versatile he could be in the ring. Vince and co. would have heart attacks if anything barely resembling that match happened today.

That match was beyond brutal, I still grimace at a lot of the spots. I think that match put Angle on the map more than any other match he had until that point. Always loved Shane's matches big matches.

Actually kind of funny you posted about this match considering I literally rewatched it about an hour before this was posted. Thanks for the user who posted that interview with Shane about it, never seen that before. Will watch it tomorrow

At the time I didn't really appreciate Shane but looking back now, he put on a lot of great matches. They were by no means technical or full of great wrestling but they were entertaining as hell.

His SummerSlam 2000 Match is one of my favourites too. A true story of somebody getting their ass kicked and running away back fire-ring on them.

Yeah I'm the same. Didn't really like him at all as a kid, didn't have the look and wasn't really someone you'd look up to, but as you get older you start to appreciate what he's done.

This is an incredible and brutal match. I can still remember watching it the first time and thinking someone is going to end up dead - especially after the suplexes. Definitely built my respect for Shane.
