I think he is going to be one of the ones released after Mania this year. They obviously have no further plans for him, which sucks. Does the WWE normally use Mania as the end point for contracts? I guess it would make sense, but it's not something I actually know much about. Either way, it's too bad... Barrett still has potential. Yeah, normally around Mania time they hire some people, promote people from NXT and remove dead weight in their eyes.

He should keep that gimmick only on the JBL and Cole Show. Good to see him back on tv.

I like it. There's always room for any gimmick to grow and evolve, so I'll see where it goes before I damn it to hell. I love how we see like 30 seconds of his new gimmick on Raw and we're calling for him to be shipped to TNA. Fickle fans are fickle.
There have been many silly gimmicks that have or are evolving to something better. Ziggler, Brodus, ect.

Yeesh. That gimmick smells of desperation. They could at least make it funny.

They usually cut dead weight after Wrestlemania. It would also add an easy wrinkle to a storyline if a guy was legit leaving on good terms. They could have a 'win or go home' match.

As with most gimmicks, I'll give it more than a week before bashing it into the ground.

I had heard so many good things about "Bad News Barrett", that I marked when heard the name announced on Raw this week. Then, he opened his mouth. I was gob-smacked. I thought - "That was it??"

It would of been a little bit better if he wrestles after his bad news stuff that way the crowd can cheer for the baby face much much more.

I hope this is a short-term gimmick like when Dolph Ziggler used to tell everyone his name. It evolved (slowly) into something with more depth. Dolph Ziggler telling everyone his name was pretty much the most depth his character has ever had. I think he is going to be one of the ones released after Mania this year. They obviously have no further plans for him, which sucks. Does the WWE normally use Mania as the end point for contracts? I guess it would make sense, but it's not something I actually know much about. Generally, no. Contracts end/renew at various points of the year depending on when the deal was made. But some years, WWE does release a few performers in the spring after WrestleMania. And as mentioned by a poster above, they sometimes reshuffle the decks a little after WrestleMania ie Sandow, Ryback, Cesaro all debuting shortly after WrestleMania 28.

I'm not sure just how this is supposed to finally get him over. Everyone mentioned a similarity of his jbl/cole show version of this to just joe. If that is what wwe is going for,let me remind them, it didn't work then either. By and large, I think Barrett is still salvageable. But they're gonna have to work hard to repair the damage done to him during his near win-less ic title run from early this year.

While we're on the topic, it is technically "Stealing the show", if the show is Main Event?
