F4Wonline.com reports that WWE has sent out a memo stating that Chris Benoit footage will be allowed on its new Network broadcasts. There will be an advisory played before every show he appears on. WWE is expected to announce the Network in Las Vegas next week.
There is of course ups and downs with this. But it's still a great thing that we can finally see matches like Orton-Benoit and more.

Look, I won't watch his matches. With that said I have no problem with them showing his matches just to have events in their entirety. Just don't show him in promotion or advertisement. No money should be made off of his name and you shouldn't have to see him unless you purchase the network. Also he should not be included in merchandise sold such as dvds and figures.

Cool. Benoit was a big part of the wrestling world from '95-07. You simply cannot erase all of that. You don't want to watch him? That's cool. Just don't ruin it for others who still want to see his work.

This is very, very good. I just hope they don't edit commentary.

I hate him for what he did but he was pure talented in the ring.

I now have a reason to not subscribe to the WWE Network when it launches.

I've never seen Benoit in action, but I'm going to separate the man from the wrestler. Should be pretty interesting if I'm somehow able to snag the network.

I doubt it, but if they do this is VERY stupid. Now that WWE is all PG I doubt any moms want there 8 year old kids watching a wrestler who killed his son wife and himself in addition this guy doesn't deserve to be put on television after what he did 7 years ago.
I will not watch ANYTHING that has Chris Benoit in it.

I really like this. When I watch Chris Benoit, I don't watch to think about Christopher Benoit as a person. I think of "The Rapid Wolverine" Chris Benoit, the wrestler. He was extremely talented in the ring, and, I feel he should be allowed to be seen, if the person wants to see it.
I do not agree, however, that he should be promoted in any way, on TV, DVD (unless in multi-man matches), or figures.

What do they need an advisory for? It's not like he is going to come through the TV and kill you as you watch.
I mean, they don't have advisories and warnings for shows that contain footage of Adolf Hitler.

Pains me to say it, but I just can't watch him anymore. So I'll skip passed them all.

Nobody is going to force anyone to get the network or watch Benoit if/when he is on. And I doubt they'll promote his name or something, he will just be there, so this is good, IMO. I don't expect them to do anything really, just move on from the stupid idea to act like he never exist, because he did.

I've never understood why people refuse to even acknowledge the guy when we see TV shows, books, magizines, movies, the internet, etc... promoting mass murderers all the time. From serial killers like Bundy and Gacy to murderers on an international scale like Hitler and Stalin. Hell some of the best shows ever like the Sopranos are based off real killers yet people still watch them.
Nobody is denying what Benoit did was one of the worst things imaginable. However Benoit was a sick man and a big reason as to why he did what he did was because he was entertaining us, yes US, the fans on a weekly basis. Not watching a WWE DVD or the WWE network because Benoit MIGHT be shown once in a while is silly considering we are exposed to killers throughout history on a daily basis. Just fast forward or change the channel if you don't want to see him. Thats cool and understandable. I just find it funny that people like myself who still watch his work are bashed for watching a murderer when we are exposed to different scales of murderers every day.

The only thing you are going to earn with this is people flaming you and calling you out as an "idiot" or "sick" guy because you are not wishing Benoit riots in hell and everyone forgets he ever existed.

Thing is all of those things display those people for what they were, killers. WWE promoting Benoit for his wrestling ability is showing him in a positive light. The shows and movies that show off Bundy and Hitler and such aren't doing that. There is a difference in flipping the channel and seeing a biography discussing Manson and his crimes and flipping to another and seeing Benoit win the World Title.

Hitler's writings and books are still sold in book stores in their entirety with no censorship or changes. Its mentioned and shown in some history classes as well. Its making Hitler's work available to people. How is that any different from making Benoit's work available? We have a choice to acknowledge these or not. The WWE isn't going out of their way to promote Benoit in any way. They are simply showing their history that happens to include him in parts of it. No different than the History channel or A&E showing uncensored clips of Hitler, Stalin, or serial killers like Manson, Gacy, and Bundy with no censorship. Not trolling. Just how I see it. People can chose to watch Benoit or not. Both are cool. I just don't see why people need to bash one side for their choice.

It's a wrestling company, what do you expect? I've seen a lot of documentaries of Hitler that talk about the way he handled politics and his ability to convince people with his speeches, and how all that and some other opportunities got him to control a nation. If he used them for terrible causes, that is another story.

All those specials, documentaries and classes on Hitler and the others are always shown in relation of what they did. They all show the complete story. Their legacy. There are no documentaries of Gacy's best of birthday parties for example. Showing Benoits matches strips away what he did. Showing his matches is to only show part of the package. Benoit is a murderer that was a wrestler, showing him wrestle is blissful ignorance to what he did. Yes he's a part of their history. And all his matches are available if you want to find them. Why should they glorify him just because you can separate him from what he did and want to watch his matches?
