Good supercard here. Sting retains Scott Hall as wel all expected, now let's see if he holds the belt for a good while. Giant defeast Nash, the result that should have happened back at Starrcade, and I wouldn't be surprised if this begins Savage's exit from the nWo. Jericho got the cruiserweight title and lets see how you handle his reign. Don't know about Buff and Norton getting the tag titles, even though it was Rick's fault. Are we going to see Big Poppa Pump emerge? Good win for Booker, though I would have added Benoit to the match and made it a three-way for the TV Title instead of a future title shot. Or at least given Benoit a chance to defend the belt on pay-per-view. Hogan vs. Bret should be good but I don't know about having it on the second pay-per-view of the year, instead of building it to Spring Stampede or the Great American Bash. Overall good job here.

The PPV was good. I find it interesting that you broke up the Steiners without Scott going to the NWO. Speaking of the NWO, it looks like you're in the planing stages for a break, with Hall, Nash, and Syxxx against Savage and Hogan. Looking forward to Booker/Benoit, Raven/DDP, and more Jericho.

I've been continuing to follow your diary. I feel like your still trying to perfect the balance of how much detail you go into.
For example the contract signing I don't feel we need to know every word every one says and a summary of the angle would have been fine.
Anyway on too Souled Out
War Machines (Kronik) debuting with Jim Mitchell is something to keep an eye on. Not a fan of the pit bulls so no issue with them being used to get the new team over.
Booker/Eddie great way to kick off the show good amount of time given to them too. I like the rivalry brewing between the 2 and Benoit. Hopefully this loss doesn't see Eddie moved on because out of the 3 I'm enjoying him the most and would like to see Eddie come away with the belt.
Tag match with the Dudley's was wat it was builds to a blow off match.
Good win for Regal another diary which seems to be building the talented Regal. I'm in favour of that.
Jericho/Dragon weirdly for me I would have preferred a straight match you could have built to the ladder match a little more maybe. I must have missed when this match was announced as a ladder match because it took me by surprise. None the less would have been a great match.
Steiners lose the belts and split in the process. A bit rushed possibly but heel healthy Scott Steiner is gold.
You seem to have a lot more heel teams than faces unless I'm forgetting someone obvious?
Giant beat Nash in their blow off (seemingly) is the right call, Savage getting involved was fine adds to the tension that's been building but the jackknife maybe also be a little rushed.
Sting retains the title over Hall after an accidental distraction by Hogan. I don't know if you needed Hogan out there, the same story was told in the previous match ish. I was expecting Luger at some point because that's the story you been telling with Sting in the build up.
Souled out was an enjoyable easy read. We'll done, my only complaint was a few things felt a little rushed. I understand that your probably excited and got a few ideas rushing through your head just take your foot of the pedal a touch.
This is turning into one of the better diaries on the board already.
Finally the highlight of the PPV was easily the contract signing. My layout advice aside you captured Hogan and Hart perfectly and it shows that not rushing helps. Less is more in some cases. Really great angle that sets the stage for next month this is reality would need to be plastered all over tele to hype the match also. I can't say enough good things about this angle. Actually felt like I was watching.
Good work!

WCW Monday NitroJanuary 26, 1998 Cleveland, OH
On the heels of last nights Souled Out PPV, we begin Monday Nitro with the announcement that tonight's double main event will feature The Outsiders against Sting & Lex Luger and Bret Hart one one one with Curt Hennig. Also tonight we expect to hear from The Steiner Brothers concerning what happened last night in the tag title match. Before that begins however, the nWo makes their way out to the ring, certainly with a mixture of emotions on their face. Hogan and Hennig appear to be all smiles, along with new tag champions Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell. However, Syxx and Konnan appear reticent. Savage, for his part, appears notably subdued. Noticable by their absence are The Outsiders. Eric Bischoff grabs the microphone to address the crowd.
Bischoff: "I want to begin by...setting the record straight as it were. The President has his State of the Union address...well consider this my state of the nWo address. There have been...rumors...as of late, concerning problems among the various individuals in the nWo. Now contrary to appearances, nothing could be further from the truth. The nWo is one big happy family, as you can see before you."
The crowd murmurs in disbelief.
Bischoff: "And please, don't read anything into the fact that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash aren't out here with us at the moment. The fact of the matter is that they are preparing for tonight's main event, when they will show Sting and Lex Luger that the nWo is as strong as its ever been..."
Savage suddenly grabs the mic from Eric Bischoff.
Savage: "If you're done spitting out lies like that Eric Bischoff. I got something I gotta get off my chest. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it for you, there is a problem in the New World Order. It seems like the last few weeks, we've lost our mojo if you know what I'm saying. But the problem isn't with you (points to Bischoff) or you (points to Bagwell) or even you (points to Hogan). More specifically, I got a problem with that walking galoot Kevin Nash. I got a problem with him powerbombing me to the ground after an honest mistake. I got a problem with the idea that I'm somehow holding the group back, when it's really those two clowns holdin me back."
Savage looks at Hogan, who stares back at him.
Savage: "Let's make one thing crystal clear. I'm not your friend and I never will be...but I'm willing to set that aside and help you, because I think you're the best one to lead this organization going forward. But what I'm not willing to do is let a seven foot knuckle dragger like Kevin Nash get off the hook that easy if you know what I mean. So when he and I meet up again, backstage, in the locker room, or out here in the ring, there won't be anything holding the Madness back."
Hogan nods his head partially, only then is interrupted by Konnan.
Konnan: "Listen vatos...I've been stting back here, keeping my mouth shut for a while now. I joined the nWo six months ago because you promised me this was the way of the future. Sting, Luger, The Giant, it was all gonna be ancient history by the end of the year and the nWo was taking over. But so far, all I've seen is empty promises. Now I don't care what problems you have with each other, or with Hall and Nash, but they're the ones who got me into this outfit...and maybe they're the ones who're right. Last night, whether intentionally or otherwise, you both cost them their matches."
Bischoff: "Let me stop you right there Konnan. See, Hollywood has a very good explanation for that don't you?
Hogan: "Let's get one thing straight K-Dawg, I don't owe anything to the likes of you brother. I do what I do because it's what I think is in the best interest for the New World Order. As far as the Outsiders go, they can like it, or leave it brother. That's the same option, I'm giving to you, and anyone else in the nWo who doesn't agree with the way I'm doing things."
Konnan nods his head and rips the nWo shirt off his back, throwing it at Hollywood's feet. He turns to leave when suddenly Scott Norton drills him from behind. The remaining nWo members put the boots to Konnan, before handing him off to Hollywood Hogan who tosses him uncermoniously out of the ring.
Hogan: "Just remember the old say brother, if you're not with us...then you're against us."
The nWo returns to the dressing room, as Konnan struggles to get to his feet.
-----------------------
Match #1: Joe E. Ledge d. Ernest "The Cat" Miller at 7:15 with the Ledgecution - In his second outing, the self-professed "Ledge-nd" makes short work of the karate black belt, finishing him off with a Ledgecution. He follows this up with another Ledgecution, proving a point to the crowd.
Raven's Flock is seen entering the arena, as they prepare for a six-man tag after the break.
--------------------------
Match #2: Raven, Saturn & Kanyon d. Villano IV, Villano V & Chavo Guerrero Jr. at 10:08 [Raven over Guerrero] with an Evenflow DDT - The Flock looked impressive with their "A" team in top form tonight, as they finish off the luchadores without much trouble. After the match, DDP rushes out to attack Raven, but despite coming armed with a chair, runs headlong into the flock, and receives an Evenflow DDT for his troubles after being overwhelmed by the numbers game. Raven stands in his christlike pose over Page as we go to break.
-------------------------
Match #3: Taz d. Alex Wright at 3:15 by submission with the Taz-Mission - Taz finally makes his long awaited debut against Das Wunderkind, and then proceeds to turn the former TV champ into mincemeat, finishing him off in quick time with a Tazz-Mission.
We are then shown a video clip recap of last night's contract signing between Hollywood Hogan and Bret Hart, in anticipation for the next matchup.
-------------------------
Match #4: Bret "The Hitman" Hart d. Curt Hennig at 15:44 by submission with the Sharpshooter - The two old rivals put on a classic of a match, with Hart gaining the advantage and the win with the Sharpshooter in the end. After the match though, he is suddenly attacked by Hollywood Hogan with a steel chair. Hogan lays into his SuperBrawl opponent, saying he's a fraud and at Superbrawl he will prove it.
-------------------------
Match #5: Booker T d. WCW TV Champion Chris Benoit at 3:14 by disqualification - The match between Booker T and Chris Benoit barely got under way, as Booker was attacked suddenly by Eddie Guerrero. In response to costing him the match, Benoit tripped up Guerrero and locked him in the Crippler Crossface! The segment ends with Benoit taking his belt, Booker T looking at him from the ring.
--------------------------
We cut back to the ring where Gene Okerlund is standing by.
Okerlund: "We are back here for Monday Night Nitro, and last night guys I have to say, one of the more gutwrenching things to watch was seeing Scott and Rick Steiner fight it out, after losing the tag team championships to Bagwell and Norton. But hopefully we can settle the differences right here and now...so ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guests at this time, Rick and Scott The Steiner Brothers!
The Steiner's come to the ring, a solemn look on Scotty's face. They each stand opposite Gene Okerlund.
Okerlund: "Well we all saw it last night, the matchup for the WCW Tag Team Titles. For those of you at home here it is. You'll see Vincent of the nWo throw some kind of white powder into the face of Rick Steiner, who then inadvertently clotheslines his own brother to the mat and in the process, costs the Steiner Brothers, the World Tag Team Titles. However, it's what happens afterwards that is most distressing, as Scott you attack your own brother intentionally. Now that you've seen the footage Scott Steiner, I wonder if you have anything to say for yourself.
Scott: "Look Rick. Last night I was angry. I thought that you had cost us a match and the tag team championships that we had worked so long and hard for. Now seeing that footage makes me realize, I was wrong. And going forward, I will do a better job trying to control my temper. I'm sorry brother."
Scott extends his hand, which Rick looks at, before taking the mic from Gene.
Rick: "You know the last month or so hasn't been too kind to us. We haven't always seen eye to eye. But you're family...and family forgives. To that end (He shakes Scott's hand) all is forgiven."
The two of them hug, when Scott quickly points out to the entryway. The world tag team champions come running out to attack the Steiners, but stop short when they see the Steiners standing tall in the middle of the ring. Just as suddenly though, Scott Steiner drills his own brother in the back of the head, smiling at the other two men who get in the ring, hugging him. The crowd boos as they put the boots to the blindsided Rick Steiner. Scott then locks Rick in a Camel Clutch, wrenching back on his near unconscious brother, before dropping him to the mat and leaving with the nWo's theme playing over the PA.
-------------------------
Match #5: Juventud Guerrera d. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Chris Jericho at 13:04 by pinfall with a rollup in a non-title match - The match was a good one but Jericho had it pretty much in hand until Ultimo Dragon showed up to distract him at ringside. Juventud then rolled up Jericho for the three count. After the match Dragon got in the ring and drilled Jericho with the title belt. He stared at the cruiserweight title, held it aloft, and then dropped it onto Jericho, motioning around his waist that this issue for the title is far from over.
We cut to backstage where Steven Regal and Fit Finlay are standing by. Regal comments that last night he beat The British Bulldog, and now he's ready to move to bigger and better things, as this Thursday he will face Bill Goldberg and end the Streak.
--------------------------
Match #6: Kevin Nash & Scott Hall d. Sting & Lex Luger at 14:08 by pinfall [Hall over Sting] with a Fallaway Slam. - Hall and Nash worked as a well oiled machine, as did Sting and Luger for the majority of the match. However, at the end, when Sting had Nash down and was looking for the hot tag to Luger, Luger merely stared at him pleading and then walked away. This allowed Hall to come in and hit a fallaway slam on the hurt Sting, securing the pinfall victory. The Outsiders celebrated in the ring, while Luger merely watched from the entryway, as we fade to black.

It seems like everything in WCW is falling apart. Konnan leaves the NWO, the Outsiders are at odds with the NWO, Scott Steiner joins the NWO, DDP has an almost impossible fight ahead of him against the Flock, and finally Luger is at odds with Sting. I like this time period in WCW, cant wait to read more.

I like this time period in WCW, cant wait to read more. That was a huge point of change in this diary. At this time, WCW was relying too much on the status quo. It needed a quick turnaround to be able to survive what was to come.

((Per some notes, I'm going to be changing the way these are presented. More to the point I'm going to not write out the full text of interviews as I have been doing, unless it's a vital segment like the contract signing was or something to that effect. If it's just a character builder, then I'll summarize what was said and move on. Hopefully that will make these come out sooner and feel a little less disjointed.))
WCW Thunder January 29, 1998 State College, PA
Match #1: The Jester d. Ace Darling at 6:44 with a Flying Seated Senton Bomb (The Tears of a Clown) - The Jester is the new identity of Matt Borne, who had been signed a while back. He makes short work of Ace Darling in his debut match to kick off Thunder.
Backstage, Dusty Rhodes calls in The Macho Man Randy Savage, who is leading the nWo tonight since Hogan has the night off. The Dream says Konnan has demanded a match with the nWo tonight, so Konnan will fight Randy Savage and Curt Hennig with a partner of his choice.
------
Match #2: Bryan Clarke & Brian Adams d. Villano IV & Villano V at 10:00 [Adams over Villano IV] with a double chokeslam [The M.A.D. Slam] - The War Machines continue their winning ways, overwhelming the veteran luchadores with their pure power ability.
------
Match #3: Dean Malenko d. Eddie Guerrero at 13:45 with a double underhook floatover suplex. - Guerrero and Malenko, two old foes, faced off in this top contenders match for Chris Benoit's TV Title. Guerrero actually had the advantage for most of the matchup, but just couldn't finish off the Man of 1,000 Holds. Malenko managed to rally at around the 11 minute mark, but fell short after Guerrero countered a suplex into a brainbuster. Guerrero tried for the frogsplash, but Benoit came out with the ref's back turned and shoved Guerrero off the top rope. Guerrero chased after Benoit around the ring, and win he dived back under the bottom rope, Malenko hit him in the gut and executed a butterfly suplex with a floatover for the surprise pinfall. After the match Guerrero threw a tantrum at ringside, while Benoit merely smiled.
------
Match #4: The British Bulldog d. Fit Finlay at 7:59 with a running powerslam - Bulldog was out for revenge as it was Fit Finlay who cost him his match with Steven Regal at Souled Out. He took all his frustrations out on the fighting Irishman, who put up a valiant effort, but Bulldog finished him off with a running powerslam, before pointing to the camera and mentioning to Regal that he wasn't done with him yet.
At the entryway we get Gene Okerlund standing by, as he brings out his guest for this moment, a man who seemingly betrayed his close friend Sting on Monday Nitro, The Total Package Lex Luger. Luger comes out with a solemn look on his face, and as Okerlund tries to ask him why he would betray Sting, Luger snaps and says it was Sting who betrayed him. It was Sting who abandoned him for over a year and left him and the rest of WCW to fend for themselves. It was Sting who was selfish in this whole affair, not Lex Luger. If anything WCW fans should be thanking him for putting up with Sting's act as long as he did. Okerlund then asks Luger if he is a member of the nWo, which Luger vehemently says he is not. Luger's not out to fight this war, he's out for revenge against the slight Sting put on him. He says Sting was the one who ruined their friendship, not him, and when the time comes and Sting is begging for mercy in the ring, Luger hopes that he realizes it...just before he puts him out of his misery.
-------
Match #5: Bill Goldberg d. Steven Regal at 14:24 with a Jackhammer - This was clearly the toughest challenge the young Goldberg had to deal with as of yet, facing off against the wily British veteran. However Goldberg's combination of power and speed proved to be too much for Regal to combat. Despite managing to outwrestle the inexperienced Goldberg, Regal couldn't put the man away and another falls victim to the Jackhammer. Goldberg was celebrating going 25-0, however Regal proved to be a sore loser and hit the man with brass knuckles following the pinfall. Regal then posed for the crowd and spit on the unconscious Goldberg as we go to break.
--------
Match #6: Saturn d. Diamond Dallas Page at 13:00 by countout in a non-title match - Saturn and DDP squared off in a non-title match, as Page looked to make his way through the entirety of Raven's Flock. That message was stopped short though, as DDP was DDT'ed on the outside by Raven with the referee distracted. Saturn merely took the countout win at Raven's instructions though, as Raven made his signature taunt over the fallen US champion on the outside.
-------
As we come back from break, the nWo theme hits and we see a barely recognizable Scott Steiner. His hair has been cut and is now a bleach blonde. Steiner gets on the microphone and says he was tired of carrying around his brother. He says from day one that he was always the talented one in the family, and that Rick Steiner was always a drag on the team. Now that Big Poppa Pump is on his own, though, Scott says he will have no problem finishing off his brother, or anyone else that crosses the path of the New World Order.
A video package is shown, chronicling the feud of The Dudley Boyz and the Public Enemy. We get word that next week on Thunder we will have a Texas Tornado Tag Match between the two teams, to hopefully settle the score once and for all.
-------
Match #7: "Macho Man" Randy Savage & Curt Hennig d. Konnan & Rey Mysterio Jr. at 14:32 [Hennig over Mysterio] with a Hennig-Plex - Konnan was looking for retribution for being beaten out of the nWo on Monday, but he failed to gain it here. Savage and Hennig were far too experienced and isolated Rey Mysterio for much of the match. Hennig picks up the win with a Hennig-plex, and afterwards Konnan tries to save Mysterio from being wiped out. The nWo looks to have a full on beatdown of the former member, when Hall and Nash come down looking to join the party. Instead they attack Nash and Hennig, tossing them out of the ring. Nash picks up the mic and says, speaking for Scotty and himself, they're taking Hollywood up on his offer and "leaving it." The show closes with The Outsiders posing in the ring and the nWo backing off.
WCW Saturday Night January 31st, 1998
Disco Inferno d. Hector Guerrero at 8:47 with a Chartbuster Prince Iaukea d. Psychosis at 9:00 with a Northern Lights Suplex The Dudley Boyz give an interview, saying they'll destroy Public Enemy this Thursday Night Kanyon d. Steve "Mongo" McMichael at 8:18 with the Flatliner JC Ice & Wolfie D d. Anthony Durante & Gary Wolfe at 10:05 with a combo electric chair drop and flying crossbody Joe E. Ledge gives an interview, talking about how the Ledgend is a role model for children everywhere, and soon he will show that to the whole world. Taz d. Barry Darsow at 5:56 with the Tazz-Mission Juventud Guerrera d. Kidman at 13:12 with the 450 Splash

Nitro: Nice way kicking off Nitro with the NWO going after Konnan and kicking him out of the group, nice win for Joe E. Ledge and an even good six-man win for Raven's flock over The Villainos and Chavo Guerrero. Nice debut for Taz against Alex Wright. Nice win for Bret over his old rival Hennig gives him some momentum against Hogan at Superbrawl. Hart and Hogan would've been good for WCW in 1998. Eddie Guerrero ruining the TV Title Match too. Booker will probably get him for that. So Scott Steiner has joined the New World Order. That ain't right. Another 13-Minute Cruiserweight Match with Juventud getting a non-title victory, and the tag team main event with Nash and Hall defeating Luger and Sting with Luger walking out.
Thunder: nice win for Jester, and good Tag Team performance with the War Machines. Malenko and Guerrero in another long match for Chris Benoit's TV Title lol, I loved how you put ChrisJBL is poopy, ha ha ha. But Malenko gets the TV Title Shot against Benoit. Nice win for Bulldog and somewhat of an interesting heel promo for Lex Luger. Hoping Luger doesn't join the NWO very soon, but Luger will just be Luger, just his own man. Another victory for Goldberg, but he didn't stand tall after cause Steven Regal hit him with those knucks, hoping a Regal/Goldberg rivalry is in the near future. But anyway that's win #25 for Goldberg. Nice countout victory for Saturn over The United States Champion with the distraction of Raven. So Nash and Hall are out of the NWO as well. It's real interesting knowing you have Nash, Hall and Konnan walk out of the NWO for good. Are they going to make their own stable, if so I hope it's the Wolfpack. But great two shows man,

Let's get back to it shall we...I've been away for a while but I did run several events on the game. As a result, expect some quick results till we get to Superbrawl... WCW Monday Nitro February 2, 1998 Albany, NY
Match #1: Joe E. Ledge d. Brad Armstrong at 6:15 with a Ledgecution - Squash match for Ledge, as he continues to rack up wins in WCW.
Lex Luger comes out for an interview, challenging Sting to a match at Superbrawl for the WCW Heavyweight Title. Sting appears in the rafters, silent, before pointing his baseball bat at his former friend.
Match #2: Prince Iaukea d. Ultimo Dragon at 13:00 with a school-boy rollup - Iaukea pulls out the upset after Dragon is distracted by Chris Jericho. After the match Dragon chases Jericho to the back.
Chris Benoit gives an interview, talking about the respect he has for Booker T and the contempt he has for what Eddie Guerrero has done as of late. He says he will be a fighting champion, but no matter who he faces, he will always walk out the WCW TV Champion.
Match #3: Scott Steiner d. Rob Van Dam at 9:09 with a Steiner Recliner - Scott Steiner shows off his abilities by defeating the young rookie RVD.
Hollywood Hogan cuts a promo on Bret Hart, talking about the match that's coming to Superbrawl
Match #4: Raven d. Marty Jannetty at 4:11 with an Evenflow DDT - Raven makes short work of Marty Jannetty, but then gets into a fight with DDP. A match is announced for the two of them at Superbrawl.
Match #5: Bill Goldberg & The British Bulldog d. Steven Regal & Fit Finlay at 11:44 [Bulldog over Finlay] with a running powerslam - Some measure of revenge over Regal and Finlay for both of these men and the problems they've had in the past.
Match #6: Curt Hennig d. Disco Inferno at 6:57 with a Hennig-plex - Not much more to say here.
A video showing the rampage Taz has been on so far in WCW is shown.
Match #7: Kevin Nash & Scott Hall d. Buff Bagwell & Scott "Flash" Norton at 15:16 by disqualification - The Tag Team Title Match ends in a dq when the nWo, led by Randy Savage, comes out to make an example out of The Outsiders. They are, ironically enough, saved by Rick Steiner, and the three of the unlikely allies stand tall as the show goes off the air.
Like I said, it'll be quick results for a few posts as I get caught up...but Superbrawl will be fully written as usual.

I like the quick results to get you started, I've been doing it recently on my WWF Superstars so I could get caught up on RAW and PPV's. But anyway, solid show. Nash and Hall have really left the NWO. Really bummed that Sting wasn't there. Goldberg and Bulldog now that's a rough and tough tag team for you right there great win for them. Hogan cutting a promo on his match against Bret. I'm so excited we are going to see that match, it's going to be a good battle at SuperBrawl. as always, leave a reply to my WWF 1993 Diary.

Again, just quick results to get us caught back up (I really didn't intend to fall this far behind.) WCW Thunder February 5th, 1998 Auburn Hills, MI
Tito Santana d. Hector Garza at 9:17 with a Flying Forearm
Lex Luger comes out to cut a promo on Sting, when Dusty Rhodes comes out and says that Sting isn't the only one hurt by Luger's turncoat nature, and that tonight Luger will face one of those hurt men...he will go one on one with The Giant!
Public Enemy d. The Dudley Boyz at 17:00 in a Texas Tornado Tag Match [Rocco Rock over Buh-Buh Ray] with the Drive-By. After the match the Dudley's attempt at retribution is thwarted, but this issue is clearly far from over.
Hugh Morrus d. Iron Mike Ehrhardt at 5:44 with the No Laughing Matter
Bret Hart cuts an interview, discussing how he used to look up to Hollywood Hogan as a guy who would do the right thing, but now he sees him for what he is, a bully, and at Superbrawl he will put the Bully out of his misery.
Chris Benoit d. Steven Regal at 13:14 by submission with the Crippler Crossface to retain the WCW Television Title
Diamond Dallas Page d. Sick Boy at 3:12 with a Diamond Cutter. After the match Raven tried another sneak attack, but DDP was ready for him and chased off the whole of Raven's Flock.

After the match Luger celebrated, but Sting appeared again at the runway. The two of them stared each other down, and as Sting made his way towards the ring, Luger hightailed it out of there to end the show.

Sting gives a rare interview, talking about how he was hurt by Luger's betrayal back in 96 and he was hurt by it again these last few weeks. Backstage Kimberly Page is suddenly approached by Raven and Saturn. Both of them look to corner Kimberly and do god knows what to her, when DDP comes out of nowhere and attacks them. A fight breaks out, and it ends with Raven DDT'ing DDP through the catering table, leaving him motionless on the concrete floor below.
Bill Goldberg d. Steven Regal at 18:09 with a Jackhammer for win #27.
Hollywood Hogan cuts an interview on Bret Hart, talking about how he's a false icon in the business. At Superbrawl, just like he's done a hundred times before, he will prove that Hollywood Hogan is the man and that Bret Hart is nothing but a chump.
Bret "The Hitman" Hart d. "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner at 17:08 by submission with the Sharpshooter. After the match Hart is attacked by Hollywood Hogan and the rest of the nWo, who spray paint him in the ring and leave him lying.

Last big results batch before Superbrawl: WCW Monday Nitro February 16th, 1998 Phoenix, AZ
Dusty Rhodes announces at the top of the show a huge tag main event, as Rick Steiner will team with Bret Hart against Scott Steiner and Hollywood Hogan!
Prince Iaukea d. Marty Jannetty at 5:53 with a spinning heel kick. After the match Chris Jericho, who had been doing commentary, comes down and attacks the Prince, posing with the title over his challenger this Sunday.
Eddie Guerrero comes out and says that it's his time now. He reminds Benoit of how they fought together in Japan, but here in the WCW it's all about the gold, and Eddie Guerrero is ready for the gold. As far as Booker goes, Guerrero says he's seen enough out of Booker, and is ready to be rid of him.
Diamond Dallas Page comes out for an interview, only to be ambushed by Raven's Flock. The Flock lays waste to Page, as Raven prepares to finish him off before Superbrawl. Out of the back comes Hugh Morrus, carrying a baseball bat. Morrus had spurned the Flock's advances on Saturday Night only to be left lying himself. Morrus helps Page to his feet, both men standing tall in the ring.
Rey Mysterio Jr. d. Psychosis at 10:09 with a springboard hurancanrana
Johnny Grunge & "Flyboy" Rocco Rock d. Buff Bagwell & Scott "Flash" Norton w/Vincent at 14:55 [Rock over Norton] to become the new WCW Tag Team Champions.
Rob Van Dam d. Chris Jericho at 8:33 with the Van Daminator. Jericho was distracted by his opponent this Sunday night, Prince Iaukea, allowing Van Dam to score the upset.
Lex Luger, "Macho Man" Randy Savage & Curt Hennig d. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & Sting at 19:47 [Luger over Sting] with a world title belt shot. The match devolved into anarchy at the end, and with the referee distracted, Luger used the title belt to KO Sting, netting him an upset win over the world champion.
Bill Goldberg d. La Parka at 0:58 with a Jackhammer for win #28.
A short video is shown, simply with the words "They are the Best in the World...and They are coming to WCW."
Hollywood Hogan & "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner d. Bret "The Hitman" Hart & Rick Steiner at 10:56 [Hogan over Steiner] after interference from Curt Hennig. Hollywood Hogan stood tall once more over his Superbrawl opponent, but after the match Hart and Hogan started to fight, and Hart chased him out of the ring to close out the show.

WCW SuperBrawl VIII February 22, 1998
Pre-Show Match Steven Regal d. Taz at 9:38 by pinfall with a brass knuckles shot
Steven Regal issued an open challenge to anyone in the back before the actualy start of the PPV, and the answer was the Machine Taz, who up till now has been undefeated in World Championship Wrestling. Tazz utilized his suplexes to keep Regal off balance, and prevented the veteran from building up much momentum, but a mistake by Tazz on the outside allowed Regal to ram him into the ringpost, regaining control. Regal only held momentum for a couple of minutes, before the Suplex Machine regained his standing, but a distraction from Fit Finlay proved the deciding factor, as Regal pulled out some brass knuckles he had stowed away and decked Tazz with them, securing the pinfall afterwards. Triangle Match for the WCW Television Championship Chris Benoit d. Booker T & Eddie Guerrero at 17:58 by making Eddie Guerrero submit to the Crippler CrossfaceAfter months of feuding with each other with the TV title in the center of it all, Chris Benoit hopefully put some closure to the feud by beating both men in this three way dance. Benoit and Booker actually seemed to form a bit of a team against Guerrero in the early part of the match, but all semblence of teamwork went out the window quickly after Booker tried to steal an early pinfall on Benoit. Guerrero was then content to lay back and watch the match take place before coming in and picking his shots on the other two competitors. Near the end of the match, Booker T was eliminated from consideration courtesy of an Eddie Guerrero brainbuster on the concrete floor, knocking him near unconscious. Benoit was able to counter an attempted Frogsplash by Guerrero, and quickly hooked on the Crippler Crossface. Booker was unable to get back into the ring in time to prevent Guerrero from tapping out, allowing Benoit to retain the title in this hard fought victory. WCW Cruiserweight Championship Chris Jericho d. Prince Iaukea at 11:09 by submission with the Lion Tamer
The Prince put up a valiant effort, and it was clear that Jericho wasn't taking his challenger seriously in the early going. Iaukea nearly made him pay with a northern lights suplex that barely saw the Lionheart kick out at 2. Jericho then quit playing around and took control of the match, using his experience to his advantage and scoring a series of near falls. The Prince attempted a comeback, but Jericho finished him off for good with the Lion Tamer, celebrating with the win. Jericho then joined Tony Schiavone (Sch-Phoney to Jericho) and Bobby Heenan at ringside for the following match on commentary. #1 Contenders Match for the Cruiserweight Championship Juventud Guerrera d. Kidman, Rey Mysterio Jr. & Dean Malenko at 16:17 by pinning Kidman after a 450 Splash
The four top contenders for the cruiserweight title took place in this special bonus matchup, and it was an early candidate for match of the night, as all four men gave it everything they had. Juventud and Mysterio were flying around the ring for most of the match, trying to stay away from the submission holds that Dean Malenko would utilize, and Kidman carried that daredevil sentiment to new heights, at one point hitting a Seven Year Itch to the outside that took out all three of the other men. At the end of the night though, Juventud sealed up the victory with a 450 Splash to the downed Kidman, scoring a quick pinfall before Mysterio could stop the count. After the match Juventud looked towards Jericho and motioned for the title, which Jericho clutched protectively towards his chest. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & Rick Steiner d. "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Curt Hennig & "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner at 14:55 by pinfall [Nash over Savage] after a Jackknife Powerbomb
The explosion of the nWo continued as the founding members, the Outsiders, joined Rick Steiner against their former stablemates. Rick Steiner was viewed as the weak link, apparently, as the nWo took turns trying to isolate the younger Steiner brother. Once Rick tagged in Hall, though, things turned for the good guys, as Hall cleared out Hennig and Big Poppa Pump in short order. Savage came in and reestablished control, but Big Sexy eventually won the day for his team, scoring the pinfall after a Jackknife Powerbomb. The Outsiders then celebrated, while Scott slinked off, Rick still promising retribution. Tables Match for the WCW Tag Team Championship Buh Buh Ray & D-Von Dudley d. Johnny Grunge & "Flyboy" Rocco Rock at 15:09 by way of putting the opponets through a table to win the WCW Tag Team Titles
The issue between these two teams is hopefully finally settled after this bruising and violent matchup. In a match that reflected both teams hardcore roots, The Dudleys and Public Enemy used all manner of weapons and other paraphernalia at their disposal to maim, hurt, and generally destroy their opposition. Bloody and beaten, Public Enemy were the first to try and drive D-Von through a table by hitting the Drive-By, but D-Von got out of the way, causing Rocco to drive himself through a table. The end came a few moments later when Buh Buh Ray hit a top rope powerbomb on Johnny Grunge, driving him through a table on the outside, and ending the title reign of The Public Enemy at just 6 days. Raven's Rules Match for the WCW United States Championship Diamond Dallas Page d. Raven at 21:08 with a Diamond Cutter on a Steel Chair to retain the titleTo say that this match was personal is an understatement. Page tore into Raven from the opening bell, and the leader of the Flock could hardly withstand the onslaught. Saturn became involved though, and the momentary distraction allowed Raven to hit a thunderous chairshot to the head of DDP which only netted a two count. Raven was much more technically sound in this match then he had been in weeks previous, and focused most of his attacks on the injured ribs of DDP. After utilizing steel chairs, kendo sticks and other objects to his advantage, Raven went for his signature drop toe hold on a chair, which Page countered into a side Russian Legsweep into said chair. Page took the upper hand, using the kendo stick to his own advantage and busting open Raven right above the eye. Bleeding profusely, Raven still managed to hit the Evenflow DDT out of nowhere, only to get a two count. Frustrated, Raven got another chair and set it up, attempting to hit Page with the Evenflow on the open chair. Instead Page countered out of the DDT and hit a Diamond Cutter on the open chair, getting a very close three count to win the match. Afterwards, as Page slowly made his way to the back, Raven sat up and watched out of the corner of his eye, a smile on his face, signaling that this war may have just begun. WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match Sting and "The Total Package" Lex Luger fought to a double count-out
Neither man was apparently concerned with the outcome of this match, as both men just wanted to hurt the other. Luger and Sting brawled throughout most of the match, virtually ignoring the referee throughout and pushing the envelope of disqualification to new ends. Eventually they gave up all pretense of being interested in the world title, and merely focused on each other, resulting in a double countout as they both brawled to the back. When the referee through the match out, WCW security attempted to break the two men apart from each other, with little success, but eventually managed to restore order. This feud is clearly not over. Battle of the Icons Bret "The Hitman" Hart d. Hollywood Hulk Hogan at 14:35 by submission with the Sharpshooter
Hart started the match out dominant, but Hogan quickly established his rhythm and pace, showing why he is one of the craftiest veterans in the game. During the course of the match, Curt Hennig made his way down to ringside, allowing a distraction for Bret Hart that Hogan took advantage of. The turning point came when referee Randy Anderson was knocked out, and Hogan used the opportunity to begin whipping Bret Hart with his leather weightlifting belt. This seemed to light a fire under the Excellence of Execution however, and Bret Hart turned the corner, turning Hogan's power against him and working on the lower back of Hollywood. With the ref still down, Hart signaled for the Sharpshooter, but Curt Hennig decided to phsically interject himself in the match. Hart chased him off, but Hogan hit a low blow to drop Hart to the ground. Hogan then hit his legdrop and went for the cover. Nick Patrick came running out, and only counted two. Hogan argued with Patrick about the cadence of the count, but Patrick stuck to his story. Hogan went for a second legdrop, but Bret Hart sat up. Catching Hogan down, he hooked him in the Sharpshooter, and though Hogan tried to fight to the ropes, he eventually tapped out, giving the win to Bret Hart to end the show.

WCW Superbrawl Review: Regal/Taz: Great match between Regal and Taz, but he wins the match by cheating and using brass knucks to his advantages. Benoit/Booker/Eddie: Great triple threat match to kick off Superbrawl, I have to say it was a good match but the three of them put on quite a heck of a show with Benoit hanging on to the title. Jericho/Iaukea: Great win for Jericho and hanging on to the Cruiserweight Title, not gonna lie about that. Guerrera/Kidman/Mysterio/Malenko: Guerrera getting the #1 Contendership spot against Jericho. Looking forward for their feud in the future. Wolfpack/NWO: Great win for Nash. Hall and Steiner. Nash and Hall have certainly defected to the WCW Side against the NWO by forming their own clique the Wolfpack. I'm hoping whoever joins the Wolfpack is going to be targeting the NWO. Dudleys/Public Enemy: Go Dudley Brothers, they win the Tag Team Championship in WCW. Public Enemy loses the gold in just six days WOW!. SHOCKED! But then again it's the Dudleys, so very good match for them. DDP/Raven: Probably a great match between DDP and Raven. It was a pretty even match but good that DDP Won the United States Championship or retained it, well shoot he's the champion sorry about DDP regaining the title, Sting/Luger: I didn't like the way Sting and Luger fought to a double countout but ohhh well, possibly and most likely a re-match at the Next PPV for the WCW World Championship at Uncensored in a gimmick match. Hart/Hogan: probably great match of the night between them. Two of the greatest legends that have ruled the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. I'm glad this has happened in WCW. Despite the intereference from Hennig and one leg drop from Hogan. Bret didn't want to get screwed again and he beat Hogan one on one. Great win for Bret Hart.
Overall: Good show, the match and the minutes were a little bit crazy but i'll take it.

SuperBrawl and general feedback...
Superbrawl layout wise if your interested was much better for me. Easy to read and because you had built the card very well over the previous weeks it really felt like a big show.
I was not a big fan of Taz so Regal beating Taz was fine by me, the match would have been decent. One thing I don't like about Regal is that everyone goes down the route of the brass knuckles with Regal and admittedly he is a sneaky heel he is more than just brass knuckles.
Benoit/Guerrero/Booker were given 20 minutes which would have been gold no complaints from me any of the 3 could have won and I would have been happy, enjoyed this rivalry
Jericho beat Iaukea which should be the case and now moves into a program with Juventud, while Mysterio buddies up with Konnan to challenge the NWO maybe?
Now into the money half of the event, maybe I would have went with Scott Steiner's team winning the 6 man but can understand why you didn't Wolfpac needed a win plus Scott will probably/should end up going over Rick.
Dudleys became new tag champs and DDP retained his US title over Raven. I enjoyed the US title match more. Your tag scene isn't clicking with me yet. Raven/DDP was a good match which looks to continue
Sting/Luger going to a double count out was fine on this card with Hogan/Bret being the Main Event. They have a lot of history with one another and your only at the start of this story at the minute. It can headline the next PPV or two.
Bret beating Hogan in the Main Event was 100% the right decision and I applaud you for making it and going through with it. You contract signing at Souled Out was money and I was looking forward to this match and it didn't disappoint. Hogan loses nothing and it builds Bret up nicely. interested to see where both go from here.
Overall its clear your a talented booker, few booking complaints aside but I really enjoy reading your shows especially your Pay per Views. Good job

WCW Monday Nitro February 23rd, 1998 Oakland, CA
Dusty Rhodes begins with a rundown of what happened at SuperBrawl, and declares that the issues between Sting and Luger obviously aren't done, meaning that at Uncensored we will see the two men fight in a steel cage match.
Taz d. Fit Finley at 7:23 with a Tazz-Mission As a means for getting even from Regal's ending of his undefeated streak, Tazz went one on one with Regal's on-again, off-again tag team partner. Finley puts up a decent fight, but in the end Tazz locks on the Tazz-Mission to pick up the victory. Steven Regal, who was on commentary, looks on as Taz motions to him that he's next.
Bill Goldberg d. Gary Wolfe at 5:54 with a Jackhammer Not much to write home about here, as Goldberg picks up the win over one of the Pitbulls to extend his winning streak to 29. After the match, however, Goldberg is attacked by the other Pitbull, and a 2-on-1 ensues, which leaves Goldberg fazed, but not out of it.
Hollywood Hogan and the nWo come out for an interview. Hogan claims that last night was just a fluke victory for the Hitman, and that it really doesn't matter if Hart cheated to beat him (questioning the cadence of the referee at one point, ironically enough), because once again Hollywood Hogan proved that he was the best in the wrestling business. Bret Hart appeared on the ramp and called Hogan delusional, and that he had him tapping out right in the center of the ring the night before. Hart then says that if Hollywood needs another lesson in how Bret Hart is better than him, he will be more than happy to oblige right here tonight! Hogan thinks about it for a moment and says no, saying that Bret Hart needs to earn the priviledge of fighting him again, and that if he can beat Curt Hennig tonight, he can earn his rematch. Bret Hart nods his head.
Kevin Nash is due out after the commercial break, and he makes a point to describe what will happen to Randy Savage in the near future. He says that he's tired of six man tags and games between them, and that he just wants to end this the old fashioned way. Nash issues a challenge for a match at Uncensored, and says he eagerly awaits Savage's response.
Diamond Dallas Page d. "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner at 9:17 by disqualification to retain the US Title DDP and Scott Steiner squared off in this title match, and Steiner looked for a moment like he might win the title. However Page rallied, despite the beating he had suffered in his match with Raven the night before. Speaking of Raven, it was clear that the issues between the two of them were far from over, as Raven and his flock came out and attacked Page, causing the dq win. They left Page lying in the middle of the ring after an evenflow DDT, with Raven smiling at Page's fallen body.
Lance Storm & Chris Candido d. PG-13 at 4:32 [Storm over Wolfie D] with a missile dropkick The debuting Lance Storm and Chris Candido made short work of PG-13, as they showed off their technical skills that made them as good as they are. After the match they celebrate, signifying a new threat on the tag team circuit.
Speaking to that, James Vandenberg appeared backstage with The War Machines. They talk about the fact that there are new tag team champions in WCW, and they are setting their sights on the Dudleys. By and large they have been unstoppable in WCW thus far, and it's only a matter of time before the War Machines get their due and the shot to be the new world tag team champions.
Rey Mysterio Jr. d. Dean Malenko at 10:11 with a springboard hurancanrana The two old rivals square off in a match for respect, which Rey wins at the 10 minute mark with his springboard hurancanrana. After the match Malenko shakes his hand and holds it up in victory, signifying the respect the two men have for each other.
Chris Jericho comes out with his Cruiserweight Title, eager to celebrate the success he's been having. He demands that they should rename the show to Monday Night Jericho and that they should erect a statue of him in Atlanta. He is suddenly interrupted by Juventud Guerrera. Juvi comes out and challenges Jericho to a match right then and there, seeing as how Juvi is the new #1 contender. Jericho brushes him off at first, and then tries to pancake Juvi's face in with the title belt. Juvi ducks it and hits a Juvi Driver on Jericho, before posing with the belt as we cut to commercial.
Curt Hennig d. Bret Hart at 14:33 with a roll-up The match was another classic between these two old rivals, and Hennig came close to winning it out right a couple of times. But Hart persevered and had Hennig down for the Sharpshooter, when Hollywood Hogan came out for the distraction. This allowed Hennig to roll up Bret Hart and score the quick pinfall. The rest of the nWo sans Savage then came out and laid waste to Hart, ending with Hogan spray painting nWo on the back of Bret Hart as we fade to black.
