Hey guys, I'm a UK'er and for the past few years I've been a casual Super Bowl watcher without any allegiances to any team, however a few of my buddies are big into the NFL and play Fantasy League etc so I've decided next season I'll join in. I know the basic rules of American Football but I was wondering if any of you guys have any advice on some further reading or watching to properly understand the sport? As for a team to support, I've gone for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I see myself as a bit of a pirate so I thought they looked pretty cool haha, plus that pirate ship in their stadium is stupidly awesome. Any fellow fans? Thanks guys, look forward to posting in here more often! Do you see yourself as a butt pirate or a regular pirate? Also, don't cheer for the Titans. Never cheer for the Titans. Or Cowboys. Basically any team I like don't cheer for those. Definitely a regular pirate. My buddy is a Cowboys fan so I definitely won't be cheering for them.

I would advise you to just keep up on the Bucs, go on their official website and watch the player/coaches interviews, and try and attach yourself to a couple guys. Also watch anything from Grudens QB Camp to a small video breakdown on YouTube of plays or players. This will help you better understand the sport, as well as the beauty behind it. Furthermore, i would listen to Mike Mayock and Brian Billick talk whenever possible. Try the Rich Eisen podcast or NFL Network. They do a great job of explaining anything, from players to plays.

I just started following NFL too, been a college fan for years but finally decided to pick an NFL team to follow. Went with the Bengals since they're the closest and have been pretty decent lately. Until that ginger QB chokes in the play offs.
If you can get the games, college football is great. There's something fun about players only getting a few years to showcase their abilities. So many schools have such rich histories and traditions.

Watching the games is the best way to learn.
There's tons of books out there, but that's more behind the scene stuff.

Why root for the Buc's? As a fan I can only expect 1,000 years of suffering before another title haha.

Be a giants fan. Two superbowls in the past 10 years is pretty damn good. I've been one my whole life. As others said, get madden games, read rules online that you dont understand, and look up past history
