It's about equality. Women deserve to wrestle too. (Well, most of them.) AJ, Natalya, Bayley, Paige, Emma and several others know how to wrestle. If you can get more like them, women's wrestling might be more popular. It might not be interesting to you but to others it's cool.

This thread is very, very sexist. You cannot base today's diva division on the past and years ago you had great women wrestlers like Moolah, trish, Lita etc. They could all wrestle and fans were glued to the screen when they were on and were not taking piss breaks and look at Chyna she was so tough she could handle herself against men and even won the IC title.
I admit today's era Is a pure embarrassment and it's basically glamour models trying to wrestle in a ring and don't have a clue what they're doing.
Why do people like Diva wrestling? I have no idea.
Why do people like women wrestling? Because they were entertaining a and actually knew what they were doing in the ring.

I agree with Planktung, this is just sexist nonsense. I like good women's wrestling just as much as good men's wrestling, and I don't really understand why any fan of wrestling would feel differently.

Those are two of the most sexist statements I've ever read regarding women in professional wrestling. I feel the same way as you Planktung. I have seen my share of really good women's wrestling. The days of seeing women as valets are long gone. When Trish Stratus debuted, she was viewed as a valet. On her off days, she continued to train as a wrestler and further honed her craft. Her accolades in the industry speaks volumes. Her hard work and determination paid off while she was a performer to being a businesswoman with Stratusphere Yoga. Some of the women can be viewed as role models for the female audience. She had to hone her craft as she absolutely sucked for the first few years. Yea she was hardworking and put a heck of a shift in but the fact remains her matches didnt offer anything different over a mens wrestling match, did it? Her skits were more entertaing with HHH than any of her matches from what i recall. As for her Yoga and role model efficiency thats irrevelent. We are talking about Divas matches, keep to the point. Just because she was female and was in a wrestling ring doesnt make her a role model. By your logic, Lilian Garcia would be just as much a role model but thats not why shes in WWE. Im not buying that role model nonsense, its too easy an argument. At the end of the day your not going to see Trish put her streak on the line against someone in a Hell in a Cell match. So while you're saying they are role models and this that and the other they are at the end of the day playing second fiddle to the men, as sexist as that might sound to you nit pickers. They are playing for second place and its like that old saying, why bother showing up if you're playing for second place? Why arent women in the main event? Because WWE are sexist? No, because they know they dont draw. And thats the bottom line. Regardless of their hard work, in ring ability or whatever.

Because they can?? It's all a matter of opinion and i don't understand why you'd make such a thread over an opinion like that. If you don't like divas/knockouts then watch Indy wrestling. Some like divas because it's good looking and good wrestling, the current crop (aside from eva with almost a year of experience) are talented in some way but some people can't understand that. That's fine if you don't like it yourself but don't bash others for what they like.

Doing high spots like a maniac doesnt make you a good wrestler. If i want to see high spots ill watch rey mysterio and see how its done properly. Did you ever see Lita's punches? The girl danced about the ring like she was doing the waltz. Waltzing Matilda would have been a more appropiate name for her.

Women's/Divas wrestling will have some sort of fanbase. Personally, I like some divas wrestling, whether it's watching Naomi, Natalya, sorta Brie Bella and the NXT women in WWE, to watching the knockouts on TNA to sometimes watching women indies. I can't call myself a full on fan of women's wrestling, but it's there because. It's your opinion to tell that you're not a fan, others got their own opinion. That's the key word to this entire thread, opinion.

I want to be converted because maybe i will start to enjoy those diva matches on Raw rather than go for a snack or channel hop but i have tried...believe me i have tried but im not finding the love. Im sure they are talented (as in Pamela Anderson was talented in Baywatch) but it relates to a million miles away from a wrestling ring.

I agree with most of the OP other than the part about the women not looking twice at me. If they only look once it's simply because they'll never look away!

I haven't been the fan of the the diva's for a while but that's not necessarily because of the diva's. It's more because of the awful booking and crap storylines. I will admit that I don't find any of them relevant currently and I couldn't care less about the diva invitational at Mania. Please don't interpret this the wrong way. I'm not being sexist at all. There was a time when I LOVED the knockout division in TNA. Early 2000's the divia's were better in WWE then the whole show was about 3 years ago. Chyna is in my top 10 wrestlers of all time. People say that Emma is supposed to be good, or look out for Paige, they say give the diva's a chance because it's not their fault they only have two minutes to work their match. Well I only know what I see and these past few years of, imo, garbage, has lead me to not care about the diva's at all.

Equality doesn't work in a profit oriented business, whether you would like to believe it or not. Same goes with womens basketball, soccer, softball etc. People like to shout equality in every single aspect of life, fact of the matter is..money does the talking, and most of the people who put money into all these sports are men. Do you see where I'm going with this? We want to see the best athletes in the world fight and play, not people who we could out fight/run/hit/skate. One divas match is fine, when they actually do their job. Otherwise it's just a glorified piss break/cool downer for the next match.

I don't know what You been watching but I think the divas division Is more acceptable then what it was back In the day.Remember when girls would wrestle in pools and mud for the Women's Championship?.
I remember gail Kim saying that the divas were limited on what they can do In the ring(No Punching,Kicking, etc) .Also as far as time goes 5 minutes is a good enough for a good match(TV Time Wise) the Divas ALWAYS had short time matches on tv so it's nothing new.Yes I agree that some of the wrestling is bad but not all of them are bad.
If you don't like divas then thats fine no one is forcing you to watch them. But don't degrade them as if all them are bad.Women like AJ Lee,Natalya are just too damn good to be just valets.

To be fair though, there are some good matches. That Paige vs Emma match at NXT arrival was one of the best I've seen in a while. They really don't bother me tbh.. Sometimes I need to see some women to balance out all the viewing of men in their underwear.

If done right, women's wrestling can be special. The long build up and payoff to Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus at WrestleMania 22 is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen. I'd prefer that feud and match to a good amount of feuds that I've seen recently. Plus, Paige and Emma put on awesome matches on NXT.
And not related to Divas, but I love SHIMMER, where it's all women and we get to see 20 minute classics from them.
