That is truly a remarkable/stupid amount to be spending on marketing.
Isnt the budget for marketing ultimately what made SR not so profitable in WBs eyes?

i was shocked when i heard this and i am not lying and checked again its 2 Billion heres the video for proof , its AMC theaters Youtube channel they post videos on marvel dc and tons of other stuff all the time heres the video he says 2 billion at about 3 minutes and 39 or 40 seconds in but watch the whole video its awesome and i think u guys will enjoy the show Totally insane! My bad for doubting what you heard. I can't imagine how the movies can even be profitable with $150-$250M production budgets in addition to $500M-$1B in marketing for each of them. i thought the same thing but my mom and i were talking and she brought up a good point they are gonna push merchandise out the ass and could make the money back and also think about it not just action figures vehicles and play sets for everything but cups , plates , shirts , pajamas , back packs, sheets and blankets / pillows, the dvd sales when there available as well as digital download like itunes or amazon , even hoodies and these movies have the potential to jump start sales even higher for DC's Back Catalog think about not just back issues but Trade Paper backs and hard cover omnibus's they can make that money back let alone putting new comics out like they did with the first green lantern and other movies DC has done and put out mini series that preview the movies in comic form if they are putting two movies out a year they are becoming an even bigger cash cow and we are suckling DC's teet for alot of the stuff they are putting out i myself get TPB's and the movies and for me i have spent way to much lol yet not enough to have all my comics to have full runs

I'm sure DC will do all of that stuff, but still... $1B in marketing for one movie is a hell of a lot of money. Maybe if the movies are popular enough they could see the rewards 10 years from now (and maybe that's their plan) but I have no idea how they can possibly justify that cost today.
But hey, maybe DC/WB has a fresh marketing take to go along with what seems to be a pretty unique creative take on the DCCU.

I see Morena Baccarin is joining the cast of Gotham as Dr Leslie Thompkins. Even though I dislike the show that is an A1 piece of casting.

That is truly a remarkable/stupid amount to be spending on marketing. Isnt the budget for marketing ultimately what made SR not so profitable in WBs eyes? I think it was more the fact that most included the failed developments of Superman Lives, the first Batman vs. Superman, Superman Flyby, and all of those other abandoned ideas as essentially being part of the cost of making Superman Returns. Shame, because I absolutely loved Routh as Superman and would have welcomed sequels.

Other news: Variety reports that WB is negotiating with Eisenberg to also appear in the Suicide Squad movie. This must mean that SS is part of the DCCU! That would be great news. I'd personally LOVE for that to lead to Deadshot as a Batfleck solo movie villain.

Still not too hot on Eisenberg though.....but its a minor(hopefully)gripe

It's bein said that all of the movies listed from DC is part of their overall DCU. That's why Dark Justice League and some of those other rumored flicks aren't listed on it.

I want a Justice League Dark movie (or at least a Swamp Thing movie of some kind) really badly.

Its a question I have never brought to the table in IM3,Thor II or Cap II to be honest(although a mention at least of Shield agent Hawkeye would have been nice here).....so it doesn't bother me in the slightest Bothered the crap out of me. It's like, I know that Tony "gave up" being Iron Man or whatever at the end of the third movie, but if Cap (and Black Widow) are being branded traitors and renegades by SHIELD, why wouldn't Coulson and Hawkeye at the very least not be involved? Basically, beyond Thor (and the Guardians), who lives in another galaxy or whatever, there's no reason why the entire Avengers team wouldn't be called on there. Especially after Fury is allegedly murdered. That sort of thing will always bother me, because in the Marvel movies all of the main heroes are written as pretty benevolent guys (except Stark, but even he has been fighting for a larger cause since he was kidnapped in the first IM). I'm optimistic that they'll figure a way around that in the DCCU, especially assuming that Chris Terrio is writing the primary JLA movies and hopefully any solo Batman movies as well. I think the characterization of the DC heroes, particularly Batman, could go a long way into explaining this sort of thing. I have heard that DC/WB's strategy might revolve around cliffhanger endings, and those could be effective storytelling devices in this regard too. A nice thing, if the Suicide Squad is included in this universe, is that they're pretty much anti-heroes or even closer to full-fledged villains so that part of the "why aren't they helping Batman" sort of thing can be pretty easily explained away. The DCCU wont have that problem, since Superman has Metropolis, Batman has Gotham City, Flash has Central City, Green Lantern has Coast City (and all of Sector 2814), every one has their own "turf" in DC, minding their own business, only joining forces when truly needed, different to Marvel where pretty much all their big guns operate in New York which creates that problem.

There's supposed to be a Batman and a Superman solo flick before the Justice League's films.

Skinny Laurel is super annoying.
Not Super Skinny Laurel from season 1 was much more attractive.

so DC/WB seems to be planning a Wonder Woman trilogy based on rumors that Gadot passed on the remake of Ben Hur because she is too busy with DC/WBs plans.....it seems one of these segments of the trilogy happens in the 20s set against the backdrop of women's rights....riveting stuff to behold there.
To WB I would urge caution and try get the first one right.....also WW doesn't need to have been around in the 20s or 50s or whatever.......her origin(like so many others)has been constantly updated to be in a contemporary setting.

Well their plan for at least one of the WW movie trilogy. Like I say they should concentrate on doing her "justice"(lol) in her first appearances.....

DC and Marvel are having a dick measuring contest of epic proportions right now.. And DC aint winning IMO......I have about 1/10 of the excitement for the DC stuff than what I have for Marvel. Every time I hear something great about a DC movie I hear 3 more things I dislike straight after. And I want the DC/WB stuff to be JUST as good as Marvels.....but there are some big things I'm struggling with TBH.

DC is still in a "I'll believe it when I see it" state but I am more excited for Ben Affleck's Batman than I am for anything else in CBMs right now.
