People seem to forget Ledger got almost this exact reaction when his first image came up...
I'm over here like...

I'm not gonna trash it.. I have a problem with the design, but that isn't any indication that Jared Leto isn't going to knock it out of the park and do amazing. But I'm really not feeling this look tho.. Maybe it'll grow on me over time.. But as of right now I'm not a big fan of the grunge, punk rock type, prison inmate #456789, "damaged" face tattoos, with a ing grill in his mouth and a skull tattoo.. It's like they're pandering to a certain crowd because of how hip The Joker was to average movie goers after The Dark Knight. They're not really risking alot by giving your typical audience what they want.
Meh. Actually, it's more that he's supposed to be more cult-like leader this time around. Which is why he's got a new-gen Charles Manson vibe about him. I think it works very well, if that is indeed what they're going for. But I do agree, that I think it will grow on a lot of people over time. I trust you all got to see him do the Joker voice he'll be using from the concert, right?

I can dig it. I'm more than ready for a new take on the Joker. Ledger was great yes, but it's time to move on and see something fresh. We also get a smoking hot Harley to go with Leto's Joker in this flick so I'm more than pumped. Margot is very edible and Leto is the man so I can't wait to see how they do together onscreen.

I'm going to have to see a lot more pics and footage to still get a feeling on this look....my first reaction was he looks like Maryln Manson.....I know that I don't like the idea of Joker with tattoos at all....we'll see how this plays out.

I love it... But. Let me go out on s limb here... Now lads... If you look at the first pic Jared had on his phone, he had no tattoo on his head... Also he looks like he's mad out of his tree in Arkym.
I am willing to bet that, given this pic, and the old pic, one glove on and how derange he looks, that Joker has been in solitary confit with a mirror and he drew all of that on himself. I don't believe or at least I'm not convinced that, that is legit with the tattoos.
Just by two cents. But I also do like it.
Bring it on Jared!

Tattoos haven't been confirmed and even if they are, it's not a big deal. It'd be a new refreshing take on the character. People fear change too much.

I'm open to giving it a shot. I think his look will evolve throughout the film anyway.

It's the studio I worry about.. But I see the point you're making and I agree. I dig the Charles Manson cult like vibe. That would be amazing.. And hopefully future solo Batman movies will be set in the past, and we can see him transform into what he is in Suicide Squad, which is clearly a "damaged" character.

Hate it, looks stupid, and again just like a person as opposed to 'the Joker'! Hated what Nolan did and I really hate how he looks now too; which sucks cause I am loving everything so far in this new WBCU but , this is just weird and stupid. The face tattoo's are what kill it for me, the teeth did too but after thinking about it, if its played up that Batman had knocked them out over years of beatings, then I'm fine with that.

Words cannot say how much I ing hate what the Dark Knight Trilogy did to peoples perceptions of what Batman should be! I enjoyed the movies, but they are far from the be all and end all of what Batman is, especially The Joker. Was Heath Ledger a good Joker? Yes he was, but the way people go on you would think that DC should retire the character or something.

It's not the be all end all. In fact it is pretty far away from the original character that was written. I'm waiting to give Leto a chance. He's a great actor. I hate the grills and the tattoo on his forehead but besides those I think he looks fine. Let's wait to see more before we jump on him. I'm personally much more worried about BvS due to the trailer than this.

I like the make up and the body tattoos. But the facial tats kinda bother me. But they may just be for a photo-shoot and not an actual part of the final look.

On his left hand it looks like he has permanent marker smudged all over the side of it as well on the top of his left bicep/shoulder and then the "HaHa" on his chest, it drops from the top of his nip on to his nipple. And when you zoom in on most of it, it looks really poorly put on or drawn on. I can't believe they are real. ALSO... BLURRY BUT NO FACE TATT...

Mr. McCluer I think you have some good points there buddy....... Robert69 I hated the way Ledgers Joker looked and still do.....his performance didn't change that for me at all. Today I find myself a LOT more accepting of this look. My confidence in Leto is unshakeable to be honest. As a HUGE mark for the character I was never that impressed with Nolan's version of the character.....I feel Nolan stripped him of so much by giving him the face paint and Glasgow smile. Yes indeed the assertion that there should never be another onscreen Joker is absolutely ridiculous. Ledger was good but IMO he wasn't better than Nicholson. I am more than ready for a full blown comic version of Mr J now....and I hope Ayer doesn't disappoint us now. Good times.

I'm still not sure of what to think of the new Joker, can't really judge it till I see the movie. I'm sure in time and once new pictures and movie clips come out it will grow on me.

Looks to me like it's the cover of an upcoming magazine. And that is why all the tats are Joker oriented.
