He can cut a promo, yes. But he does nothing for me in the ring. And bulking up slowed him down. He's nothing super fantastic in the ring. But he is a solid hand. He works a WWE style. Nothing too flashy or spectacular, but he sells well, hustles and is athletic. Was never trying to say that he is Balor good. As far as him bulking up....I do agree. But even before he got jacked, he was still in VERY good shape and well defined. Clearly you've never seen PWG. The NXT fans are A LOT like the PWG fans. They started out as typical awesome fans and then they realized they were "a part of something" and now they look for whatever they can to chant because "OMG we're an awesome crowd we gotta chant SOMETHING!". I hate it, it almost ruined PWG for me but those matches are amazing 75% of the time. For me NXT was tremendous show and always was but now the crowd is becoming a distraction. I definitely have seen PWG. But the last show I saw was BOLA, as its not a regular viewing for me. I agree they do like to chant....but I cant recall an over used "this is awesome chant". I love a lively crowd. I love a crowd that cheers, boos, gets excited, chants, etc. I despise a crowd that clearly knows NOT what awesome is and chants it for everything. I just don't think they should of stuck him with the most over heel. If anything a feud with Breeze would have been a good starting point.

I know its just a hold over for Owens/Zayn....but they have told a great story.

I love how everyone who gave their thoughts on this most recent episode said nothing about Captain Nostrils himself, Baron Corbin; myself included...and well deserved - I see little point in these continued squashes...

When he can put on great matches with Neville and Breeze it really is completely pointless and only hinders him.

Honestly, by the time I was writing my thoughts out, I had forgotten that he even had a match. I still can't remember who he fought. I hope they do more than squashes with him soon though. He's improving greatly and isn't undefeated anymore. It no longer works like it once did. Hearing the crowd count the match length was cool, but that will be old soon too.

Not a fan of the Corbin squashes. He is above that now. No he's not. Squashes hide the fact that he isn't a great worker and just another generic big guy.

Some dude named Steve Cutler. The point of my bringing it up was that it was interesting to note, and an indication that we as NXT fans gravitate more towards matches and segments that have more lustre to them than the 'same old s**t' by a guy who has been defeated before but has reverted to this 'technique' of trying to remain over...

His matches with Adrian Neville, Tyson Kidd, Tyler Breeze, Tye Dillinger and others on live events show that he is more than just a big guy who can't work.

His "high profile" match with Neville was, like, 4 minutes. That included interference from Bull... hardly impressive.

He's in developmental for a reason. He's been working with guys that he can put on good matches with and has, at least in my eyes, delivered when he was asked to. His matches with Breeze and Kidd at NXT in Ohio were both really good and he played heel to the crowd perfectly. There is still obviously a ton of work to be done there, but there is potential.

I miss when jobber matches weren't automatically squashes. You knew guys like George South or Reno Riggins weren't going to win, but they generally put up a good fight. You do get that some in NXT now, which is nice. Maybe Corbin's matches should start going 5 minutes at least. Squashes aren't going to help him get better either.

This weeks NXT was good but not great. Dana Brooke showed how green she was, poor Leva Bates. All she has right now is a body, I prefer Alexa Bliss more right now. In other news Bayley will be on next week!!

Just bc his match with Neville was only 4 minutes, doesnt mean it wasnt good nor does it mean he didnt show he was capable of more than a squash match. Its the story they were trying to tell with the Bull interference.

So I've watched the NXT special shows for a about a year now and have been watching the weekly's for about 2 months.
One of the big thoughts in my mind is: Why do these fantastic workers have terrible finishers?
Sami has a big boot? In a corner no less, so it even eliminates the possibilty it comes out of nowhere. This has to be the worst of the bunch. Breeze hits a spinning heel kick Balor a two footed stomp Owens has a powerbomb (effective may be, but a bit bland) Not sure about Itami's?
It seems most of their moves they hit would be much better finishers.
What do you guys think of these finishers?

Zayn originally used a brain buster(can't use in WWE since its a straight drop on the head) the corner big boot works, if you think someone coming running kicking you square in the jaw doesn't hurt you're out of your mind. I wish he would use the pump handle Orange crush power Bomb, but the one time he tried it on breeze he botched it Breeze was trained by lance storm so i imagine the beauty shot is a tribute to storm who always used the spinning heel kick Balors' is the same finishers from his days in new Japan, now if you think someone jumping 12-15 feet in the air and stomping you in the chest doesn't hurt then again you're out of your mind. He also uses a lifting ddt and a reverse lifting ddt. Owens used to use a package piledriver, pile drivers are banned, I think the pop up PowerBomb is pretty effective.

I'm not saying they wouldn't hurt. This is sports entertainment not MMA. They just seem very bland moves to me.
Thanks for filling me in on their indy moves as I didn't know. And can see why they needed to change them. But why not to something a little more exciting?

Pretty much every Indy guy has to change their movesets. Seth Rollins used to do this move call Gods last Gift, look it up its sick, but the wwe style doesn't allow for him to do a "dangerous" move like that. I'm curious, what would you want the guys finishers to be?

I wish I knew them well enough to make a call on what finishers they should use but you are right in the amount of moves that are limited due to safety issues. That Rollins move is sweet! Only previously seen them on WWE 2K14. EDIT: Just seen news that WWE have banned the Curb Stomp!! Rollins has no luck with moves
