Maybe not bad viewing wise on TV, but as a spectacle for fans it will be shocking. I'm all for Countries getting the Tournament, developing their infrastructure and being great hosts to travel to, but places like Qatar where it's silly hot, have no ties to football and nobody will travel to are pointless. Brazil was a great example besides all the political parts. Brazil getting 2014 was a disgrace. The country should never have bid and wasted billions that should have been spent on improving the lives of its population. It has great footballing heritage but that doesn't excuse the shambles of the money wasted and the lives lost when that poorly-made and rushed bridge collapsed. I know this, which is why I said political parts aside. I'm talking about it being purely a host to fans travelling out. Historical footballing context, amazing settings with Rio etc, Beaches for fans to congregate and party, good Stadia etc. Russia is expensive for everyone even in Europe to get to, it's a dull place, and only the Luzhniki existed before they were awarded the Tournament. If you're going to travel as a fan out to a Tournament, you want it to be a great experience to go to aswell as for football reasons. I went out to Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012, and know that Russia would be great for a Euros but as a World Cup I'm not so sure.

You have everything in place for a great tournament. Stadiums, airports, transport, hotels, training facilities. Also take into account that it doesn't take long to get from one side of the country to the other so even for the likes of myself from Scotland if I had tickets for a game in Manchester I would be able to drive, get the bus or train down on the day of the game pending the kick off time. It's a shame as I would love to go to a World Cup and this would have made it easy. Would go to Russia if Scotland qualified but not holding my breath on that and Qatar doesn't interest me. So looks like I won't be going to one till I'm in my 30s. Horrible thought.

The amount of worldwide and commercial exposure would of been massive too, FIFA could of pocketed a ton from it.
