Johannsson is a pretty talented kid. USA strikers look decent to me.

Does anyone think England will beat Italy and Uruguay? I think we got a good chance of beating Italy and we could beat Uruguay but it depends if Suarez plays tbh.
We probably won't win the WC anytime soon but I do think England could prove a lot of people wrong this year. The current squad is a lot better then 2010. I just hope we don't make a mess this year.

I hope we beat Ghana...and show well against Germany and Portugal. I think we are better than the las World Cup team but our group is much harder. And there is no reason for Donovan to have been left off the team. He played very well in the gold cup last summer, and in a couple of the other qualifiers this year
I'd take him over Altidore any day

Will people watch the Games? Do they care for it?

Ribery and now Reus ruled out of World Cup. Gutting was looking forward to see both players. Think Ribery missing will effect France's chances. And although Reus is good, Germany do have some quality players to cover.

Will people watch the Games? Do they care for it? I'd say the general interest is average. There are a few more people who talk about it and will watch. I am a referee, so I know a lot of people who really like soccer/football and will watch. I've been to a couple of usa games and they always sell out. The general public may only have a passing interest, but when you find people who follow the sport they are hardcore about it, so that is nice I do think that the popularity is growing, since almost every kid over here plays youth soccer, so hopefully it will continue to catch on. NBC carried several BPL games this year, and MLS is adding 2 new teams, so the interest is there I'd say that the average person will watch usa, but that's it...which is sad because there are so many teams worth watching...I plan on trying to watch as many games as I can

Cannot wait for this. Really hope we get an outsider winning it this year.
I'm quite confident in Portugal to have a good spell. Saw them live a few months back in Belfast when Northern Ireland lead 2-1 before Cristiano single handedly dismantled us. They'll likely meet Belgium in the last 16 and Argentina in the Qtrs so a semi final finish is realistic imo. People should give more consideration for South American teams as well, Chile and Colombia are likely to make it through the groups imo.
Hate to say it but I really don't like England's chances of making it out of the groups. Thought Ashley Cole would have been crucial against Uruguay's attack. I really don't understand the need for youth experimentation in the biggest tournament in the world. I acknowledge that Shaw has had a flawless season but Cole proved when he came back in the CL Semi Finals he was still capable of playing at the highest level.
Must say I really like the timing of the games, coming in from work to sit down and watch two/three games a night is beautiful!

Names are dropping like flies into this Tournament. Reus could be a big miss for Germany as I was expecting him to maybe play up top. Ribery is a huge blow for France, especially considering they already left out Nasri and Clichy. Still expect them to make it out of their group, but from then on they could struggle now.

It is a shame that so many big names are not going to play. We as spectators want to see the very best players in the world's best football tournament. I happened to flick over to the games in which Reus and Oxlade-Chamberlain were injured just moments before they went down so I might've jinxed them. Wish the USA weren't in such a hard group because they're the team that I'm backing. Not necessarily to win it, just as my team to support. I'd be happy with a Germany or France win too though.

What a fun ride this is going to be . Adrenaline, banter, action etc. Going with Brazil or Spain for the win. Hope England make it to the quarters or semis.

Can't believe its actually today...
I did a predictor earlier. Germany to beat Spain in the final, with Brazil coming 3rd and Portugal 4th. Ronaldo beats Messi in the quarters. England have a good run to the quarters but lose out to Spain.

If we're lucky we can get to the quarter-finals. Brazil is my pick to win the whole thing.

Put one of my USA flags up in the window today. Realistically they stand no chance but I want them to do well. Also, no-one around here seems to have bothered putting up England flags. I don't support them but maybe if they see my flag, they'll feel like joining in with English ones. I just want everyone to get into the spirit.
A combo of Brazil/Germany/France in the final I reckon. I just have a feeling that Spain aren't really gonna be as good as they used to be and people are overlooking France somewhat. Think they could have what it takes now, even without Ribery.

I will be rooting for the Azzurri and it's great that no one is expecting them to win. as for today, a Brazil defeat would be fun

Great first game so far. Croatia holding their own. Rakitic, Modric and Kovacic - what a midfield.

Screw Brazil ffs they Didn't deserve that penalty. Hoping they get eliminated early. Would have been funny for them to lose on an own goal.
