That was amazing and I'm so glad it happened.
Spain won't get out of the group now in my opinion. Chile are not a team you want to 'need' to beat.

Incredible stuff from Holland, thought they'd struggle considering it's one of their weakest squads, and stating the obvious for sure but RVP under Van Gaal next season will be exciting to see. On the other hand, it's depressing to see what has come of Iker Casillas.

Wow. Amazing from Holland. Spain looked a shambles at the back. They'll come back stronger though.

You know what, it. I'm sticking my head out there. England can win the world cup. Not even being sarcastic. Draw vs. Italy in the heat. Draw vs. an overrated Uruguay side. Italy draw with Uruguay and we beat Costa Rica by more than the other two (as we know what we have to do to qualify). Beat Japan or Ivory Coast second round. Now this is where it gets tricky, but by the quarters anything can happen. Park the bus vs. a Dutch side that are set up to counter and transition quickly, and nick a set piece goal against their inexperienced and weak defence. Face Brazil in the semis and its the same principle, although their defence is better. Maybe counter a bit quicker vs. them. Argies or Germany (I expect Germany) in the final and we do the same - harder against them but still possible. Yeah, its unlikely, and I'm not saying it will happen, but I'm just saying its a slim possibility (made more likely by my failure to back England at 101/1 on Betfair). Ok, I admit I've probably lost the plot in all this excitement, but oh well. On a side note there have been 4 games that were all at least good so far, that's about as many as in 2010 or 2012. Chile's great attack and awful defence make for a great watch.

There's no point being at the World Cup if you don't believe you can win it. Even the small teams. It's only 7 games, crazier things HAVE happened. Belief is a large part of the battle. Everyone would have said "no chance" if they were told at 1-0 down that Holland would come back to beat Spain 5-1.
Of course, the likelihood of England or Japan or Ecuador winning is slim. But upsets have happened so many times before. Give it 100%, show some heart, determination and concentration (maybe throw a favourable draw in there)....and who knows how far you just might get.
Come on England. You CAN do it.

If England can win so can America. We have a decent squad. We can beat ghana. Germany will most likely be resting. Heck if ghana beats Portugal we are through. I'm still picking Brazil or Germany to win.

Very excited for the games today. Come on England! Even though most of the Welsh will be hoping England lose, I am supporting them all the way. My house mate is Italian and my best mate is English so it should be fun to watch it with those guys.
Also really looking forward to seeing Colombia playing today, Falcao may be out but they still have some incredible forwards.
My plan of watching every minute of every game failed last night for Chile v Austrailia as I fell asleep ten minutes into the second half (probably due to being up at 5.30am every morning with my daughter haha).
Can't see me lasting for Ivory Coast v Japab which starts at 2am as it's my buddies birthday today which means drinking early and watching all of the games in the pub, if I make it to the end of that game without passing out I dread to think of the state I'll be in haha.
Should be a great day though and I am feeling positive about England's chances.

USA has no chance. We're in a group with possibly the two best teams in the tourney, Germany and Portugal respectfully. Germany is actually my pick to win it all. And Portugal has a great all around squad along with arguably the best player in the world. England actually has a shot of escaping the group stage, even though they have to deal with both Italy and Uruguay. Can't believe Argentina has a free pass to the next round.

We had a chance even with Buffon. idk, Buffon is one of if not the top goalkeeper in the game, Italy has a great striker in balotelli who I'm guessing will score at least once today. Even without Buffon, sirigu gets the start and I'm gonna predict 1-0 England. England's offense just isn't there anymore IMO.

We can beat ghana. Portugal is a challenge. We have a chance but I still think they did the us wrong. The rankings need to be fixed so teams don't get byes while 4 great teams are in 1 group

Portugal's squad minus Ronaldo is poor though, although he is so good that they have a slim shot just because of him. Groups B, D and G are by far the hardest though.

Got 9/11 in my perfect team in the opening post, not bad. Would like to see Ross start but understand why he doesn't.

Wish Barkley was starting but decent team, getting pumped for the game now.
Awesome from Costa Rica so far too, just wish Oviedo was there.
