1. The Wyatt rocking chair. Not only does it look good but it's sturdy as hell. Really well made.
2. The soft goods clothing has been really well done. Especially once they changed the material. Maybe not super innovative but done better than others. I guess it's to be expected from the company that's been producing Barbie all these years.
3. John Cena/Nexus armbands. Doesn't seem like much but it's really a neat addition. It gives some extra options as well by not having the armbands painted or sculpted on. You could add or remove Nexus members if you want. Also, I think Cena is the only Caucasian figure to use his new arm mold. Having the armband be removable is a big help for customizers wanting to use that arm mold.

The rubber straps for the belts is pretty innovative compared to Jakks' hard plastic crap...
Glasses fitting into the hair line
Alot of those little accessories that Jakks would never make are innovative....Zigs ass cape, Kanes voice box, Deans Camera, Perfects towel....

I like the new Damien Sandow MITB brown custom briefcase. That looks pretty cool and glad they decided to make it. I agree with champofakind, the Cody Rhodes set with mask, bag, and hoodie is one of my all time favorites. Very well done set. |

Any classic IC belt. It's always been my favorite championship. Of course the new one is amazing as well. I also think the Undisputed belt that came with Brock is a great accessory.

Lots of negativity swirling around after the fiasco with Andre the Giant, and I get it, that could have been knocked out of the park by Mattel but instead felt like a cheap afterthought. It took the wind out of the sails of an otherwise amazing set. So to counter, what 3 things would you say are legitimately Mattel's best or most innovative accessories and why? 1. Removable towel accessory for SES Punk and elite 4 Kane. The sculpting looks great on the wrinkles and I don't believe we ever got this from Jakks. My Elite 4 Kane stands out from his E10 repaint with this piece. Really cool looking stuff. 2. Fan signs. This one falls under innovation. Sure, they have the crappy copyright info, but that had to happen. It is a good idea and doesnt seem to affect the budget very much. Get enough of these and it'll look slick in people's pic feds where some people's homemade signs are clearly the same handwriting over and over again. 3: The Elite 8 Intercontinental Championship. Elite 8 was a measuring stick line for sure: 6 new scans, two vac metal belts, 4 elite debuts, and color abounded. We had not seen a championship from Mattel yet, and while I was confident they would be good, they blew all expectations away. This set had the WWE spinner and attitude era IC belt, but I chose IC because of the significance in toy form. To the very end Jakks continued to use the Titan Tron Live IC belt, and boy, was it crappy. No way of really distinguishing what was going on in that design and no room for color on the plate. Mattel did possibly their greatest work on a belt with the loving attention to detail lavished on it, as well as having full color, innovative strap design with pegs that were adjustable rather than the Jakks one with the long tail trailing off. What do you guys think? "Explanation on Andre. Andre will have a removable singlet AND a removable hair piece. he should not wear both at the same time. Remove the hairpiece and add the singlet to get the Wrestlemania 3 Andre. Remove the singlet and attach the hairpiece to get the early 1980s version of Andre. he has blue trunks underneath the singlet Unfortunately the first batch of prototypes on Andre had a hairpiece that was warped and did not fit correctly. This version was used in these proto photos. This has been corrected for final product. The final product will look better than the pro to image." That was posted by MDT. |
