Brazils success in the World Cup was papering over the cracks in Brazilian society. Now there's nothing for the nation to hang its hat on, the rioting's gonna start again, probably more intense.

absolutely pathetic.
When I saw Germany in South Africa 4 years ago I knew they were destined for this cup, but I've forever been an Argentine fan so I still hold out hope. But how Brazil played today...wow....very unprofessional. Take your loss with some dignity people.

Sh*t. Holland lost 4-2 in a shoot-out. I hope Argentina wins the cup.

This Germany squad is nuts, hopefully we're in for a good game. It's been a great World Cup.

Glad Germany won. They were the best team, and the only one who could compete with the top club teams imo. Messi winning the Golden Ball is a joke.

Well hey, World Cup fever has me sticking around. I watched Portland/Seattle on Sunday and Philly/New York last night. Going to the Columbus/Crystal Palace friendly next week. I'm full on board.

Yeah the MLS is really expanding. I've caught a few games here and there, but i'll definitely convert into a full time fan with NYC FC debuting. Frank Lampard and David Villa have signed and Xavi Hernandez is next. Can't wait.

Currently the MLS get the stars of yesterday which is perfect for it as a growing league. What they need next is not the stars of today such as Rodriguez, but instead the stars of tomorrow. Young players need to believe that the USA is the best place for them to nurture their talent and then get sold for big fees to the major clubs abroad. Once that happens the MLS will be competitive. The main problem is that every other top league is in Europe and all compete in the Champions League, which the MLS is obviously ineligible to compete in. That competition is seen as the top of the tree nowadays (perhaps even moreso that the World Cup but at the very least at the top in club terms), and top players will always want to play in it.

Or maybe if the mls could grow and become more prestigious then maybe we could get some soon to be stars like julian green.

The MLS will probably help younger players develop, but once they've become world class they're likely off to compete in Europe. I think that's the biggest issue the league has to face at the moment, retaining those younger players to craft stars of their own.

Even though MLS has come a long way, it will NEVER be on the same level as giants like Premiers, Liga, Serie A, and Bundesliga. I think that's one of the reasons why they wouldn't be able to keep a young star that has world class potential. Playing for a team like Madrid over the Sounders is a no brainer, obviously.
Soccer just isn't a priority when it comes to North America and that's one of the reasons that MLS won't really pan out to be a major league but it's still a fun league to watch.

It just needs more support. What it all comes down to is money. More fans = more money = better players.

I do wonder if the MLS will have to adapt a fully European system of money and transfers etc. to succeed.
