They edited the chants out but still kept footage of the guy in the Punk shirt chanting for him

Isn't this common for taped shows? I've heard instances of them doing this for years, didn't they initially do it for people like Cena and Batista when they were getting boos?

They commonly manipulate chants on taped shows. Hell, I'd wager less than 20% of the crowd noise on Smackdown is authentic.

I wonder what the point of the chanting is at this stage. Is it just trying to express "we like CM Punk"? Is it "please come back, CM Punk"? Is it "I'm sticking it to the man right now lolz"? I don't really get it.

You could still hear the chants, but hearing how LOUD and overwhelming it got... you can see the edited it slightly after they showed the one guy.
Doesn't matter.

I don't really get it. I agree so much with what you just said there. I don't get it either. Never has a wrestler leaving impacted the fans to chant his or her name so frequently like it has with CM Punk leaving. Is it just cool to start chanting "CM Punk! CM Punk" at live events now?? Kind of like how it's cool to boo John Cena at live events, but somehow his merchandise sales are always number 1, thus meaning it must be cool to boo Cena, but still like him?? I would much rather hear a "We Want Bret" chant from a post Survivor Series 97 Raw, then to keep hearing all these "CM Punk" chants every week.

Arenas chanted "Daniel Bryan" after he was released, until shortly before SummerSlam.
It's what wrestling fans do, now. They tell you who they want to see and chant for who they like.

Therefore, fans want Paul/Vince to reach out to Phil and try to get CM Punk to return to the WWE.

The thing is it's not like WWE doesn't want Punk there. They most certainly do. It's Punk who chose to leave. So chant CM Punk all you want at Stephanie, Triple H, Cena, Vince, it doesn't matter. You're talking to the wrong people.
The only way to get Punk back is convince him to return. So go to Punk's house and chant his name over and over every time he's on the phone, on the toilet, or in bed trying to sleep. May sound dumb but least it targeted at the right person.

They were loud as in person, I couldn't even hear Stephanie at one point( not that I'm complaining about that, lol).

Are we meeting in the alley by Punk's apartment? We'll bombard him with chants and questions, when he goes to take the trash out.

I'm a little out of the loop, but is the belief still that Punk was tired/injured/burned out and walked away, or has anything else come out? I obviously don't know personally, but I'd assume they have been. Either way, it was Punk's decision to leave, which is why the chants directed at WWE (who clearly would want him around as he's a marketable superstar for them) are so confusing to me. WWE doesn't need to be convinced to bring him back.
