Easily Victoria. Would've been Robin had they not beat that into the ground. Although I absolutely loved the Mother.
Also, I read that if the show would've been canceled after season 2 the creators planned to say Victoria was the mother.

Victoria. Although Robin at first I liked, it got a bit repetitive. I did enjoy Zoey and Stella to a degree, though.

Granted I've only seen Season 1, but they spend most of the season with Ted chasing Robin. And Cobie is smokin' so her.

The Mother is my favourite. However, Robin in season 2 was fantastic and definitely the best on this list. Had the show ended when their relationship was still fresh in the viewer's minds then the ending would've been 100x better. The show ran too long for that to work, and once we were introduced to Tracey we fell in love with her (or I think most people did) as Ted's wife so it didn't make sense anymore, but they went for it anyway.
But yeah, Robin.

Man I loved The Mother. Just absolutely perfect...ARGHHH damn you HIMYM writers! But this is about his pre-Mother GF so I would say Victoria followed closely by Robin. Stella was alright until she left him.

I voted Robin but I also loved Victoria and as others said, the mother was awesome sauce.

I voted Cindy just because I have loved Rachel Bilson for years from her days on The OC up till now with Hart of Dixie.

I agree with a lot of what's being said. I think Victoria is my personal favorite, but there were points, especially early on, that I really loved Robin. I think Victoria and Ted just had so much chemistry together and what they had seemed genuine. I also think there is something to say for "what could have been" had she not left for Germany when she did. Them getting back together with Victoria co-leaving her fiancé wasn't really ideal timing. I think we were supposed to relate to Victoria when she kept pointing out that Robin was always going to be that underlying issue in Ted's life, which turned out to be foreshadowing.

Definitely Robin. Despite Ted chasing after Robin being redundant after Season 1, they made a great couple in Season 2. I never really liked Victoria much. Cindy would be second, and Stella would be third, with Victoria probably fourth.

Yeah, Ted and Robin were awesome during season 2. I think for me, it was the evolution of turning Robin into the female Barney where I kind of lost the desire to see her end up with Ted in the mid to later seasons. I feel she did revert to her older self in the last season, especially with the whole necklace thing, but at that point I was already completely locked into the Mother.

I'm excluding Robin here because of how things eventually end up. If I include her, I pick her.
So, aside from Robin, it's a tie between Victoria and Stella. Victoria has a slight edge as a character, but I love me some Sarah Chalke.

In the end though, I just wasn't that crazy about the character. Other than the 2 minute date, there just weren't a lot of moments where I thought they would work.

Yeah, the character had moments, but most of it is just me being a fan of Chalke. She's very likeable and charming.

Stella was a terrible character. She tried to change Ted many times and left him at the alter. Then allowed her husband to make movies that tarnished Ted's life. She was a real bitch.

Victoria, hands down. Except for her in the later seasons. They brought her character back, ignored her, made her boring, and quickly ruined one of the most perfect characters in the show. I would've rather them never bring her back, although I was super pumped at first when they did. But then they clearly had n idea what to do with her, and it showed. It was so disappointing.
But, early Victoria up to sudden run-in for the first time in 5/6 years, is the clear winner. Love me some Ashley Williams.
