Over in Banter, we got onto discussing Denis Leary and his stand up routines (very funny man, check out No Cure for Cancer and his other ones some time) and it reminded me of my absolute favorite show of all time; Rescue Me. For those that have never seen it, it was a comedy-drama about New York Firemen, with Leary playing Tommy Gavin who in turn is the protagonist. I'll just copy from Wikipedia here:"The series follows Tommy's troubled family and co-workers as they deal with real life issues, either with post 9/11 trauma or their own domestic problems. Tommy struggles with the loss of his cousin and best friend Jimmy Keefe, as well as fifty-nine other firefighters whom he knew, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Jimmy frequently visits Tommy in ghostly visions. In the pilot episode, Tommy and his wife Janet (Andrea Roth) have already separated, although they are technically still married, and Tommy has moved across the street. Tommy is an ill-tempered, self-destructive, hypocritical, manipulative, relapsed alcoholic who suffers with survivor guilt and posttraumatic stress disorder as a result of 9/11. Although he has a poor grasp on his personal life, most of his actions as a firefighter are well-intentioned, but despite his devotion and care for others (and for the job), he is viewed by various family members and his fellow firefighters as self-centered." It ended about 2 years ago, and as sad as the finale was, it was also one of the funniest ing things I've ever seen. I highly recommend watching all 7 seasons. It might be on Netflix, but I'm not sure.

Watched this show years ago and love it, made it up to the Season 3 finale before I cancelled my Netflix. Never did end up watching that episode. From what I hear, the show went downhill after Season 3 so maybe it's a good thing.

I loved the intro. When I played MVP Baseball 2004 for the first time (2009ish, I was slow) I marked hard when I found out "C'mon C'mon" was in the soundtrack.

It is one of my favorite shows. It is certainly worthy for people who never watched it to start on Netflix or something.

Alright, I'm bumping this because 1) it's my thread 2) there's no point in making another one 3) I just finished watching it all over again on Netflix So yeah, I forgot just how good and funny it was until about a month ago when I decided to watch it all again. I remembered a lot about the last two seasons, but not the first few (well, I was pretty young when it first came on) and I was blown away, really. I posted the into the show in this thread in the OP, which I find hilarious, so I'll use this post to show what I think are some of the funniest moments: The boys set up Garrity with a Tranny.
From Season 1
And some of my favorite fire scenes:
And the awesome promo for the last episode:

Loved the first few seasons and portions of the last couple. The stuff in the middle was hard to sit through sometimes.

it's a good show, but it started going in circles...leary would get back with his wife, not want her, she becomes a bitch. then they'd break up and start it all over again.
i couldn't stand his uncle either. reminded me of jack victory.

There were definitely some dull points during the series, but I really enjoyed the show.

Was a great show that probably went on about two seasons longer than it should have. The stuff with Tommy and his wife was REALLY annoying and frustrating to watch in the later seasons.
