Well with the loss now of 3MB, the split of the Rhodes Brothers and The Shield. We are left with The Uso's, Wyatt Family and RybAxel, oh and Los Matadores, but who cares about them, they're beyond repair right now. This time last year we had Team Hell No, The Shield, Real Americans, Rhode Scholars, 3MB, PTP, Tons of Funk, Mysterio & Cara and more. Where did they all go wrong? Creating new teams is one thing now, but properly using them, in story lines and marketing wise is another.
These are the teams I would create and call up as soon as possible.
The Awesome Ones
The Miz & Alex Riley
Alex Riley's in-ring career doesn't seem to be over, as he was reportedly wrestling at a few recent NXT house shows. I still believe he can be a top player in the company, but he needs some re-establishment as it's been almost 3 years since he has been relevant on television. The Miz is a lost cause right now, we don't know whether he is heel or face, one week he is, one week he isn't. Obviously he has been away for a while filming his new movie, so the best way I think to re-establish this pairing would be having the Miz return as a babyface cutting a promo, out come the Wyatt Family to attack him, claiming he is the "poster boy for everything that's wrong with today's male", Riley will commentating, he will step up and join in to help The Miz, they will predominantly feuding with Harper & Rowan while a higher up babyface will fued with Bray Wyatt. From there, they can be heavily marketed with merchandise (Those old Miz baseball t-shirts would be good, with "The Awesome One's" logo). Eventually (after 1 and a half-2 years) have the Miz turn heel on Riley, leading to a proper feud between them.
El Mexico
Sin Cara & Kalisto- Ricardo Rodriquez as manager
Two exciting masked wrestlers to appeal to large Latino fan base. Pairing these two will do wonders for both, can help heal the tainted image of Sin Cara and can help introduce to the WWE Universe the marvellous Kalisto. Give them Ricardo as their manager/mouth-piece/hype man, good way to re-introduce him on TV, let him announce their entrance and speak for them during promos. I would let them compete on NXT for a few months first to build some chemistry and create a tag team finisher together. Then I would run a series of vignettes hyping their debut. I would market masks for them and a basic colourful t-shirt for the kids mainly with "El Mexico" written and two separate masks on there.
Enzo & Big Cass
Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy
Two of my favorites for NXT, too bad we haven't seen much of them since Enzo has been injured for quite some time. I can't wait for him to come back. I'd give them 4 months in NXT once Enzo is back so that he can shake off any rust. The marketing is obvious with the whole S-A-W-F-T stuff, which is great and will get over it very quickly on the main roster. I would debut them as tweeners who are much like Edge & Christian. I would have them debut and go up against RybAxel as a mini-feud, give them mic time, the promos would be hilariously great.
The Real Americans
Jack Swagger & Heath Slater- Zeb Colter as Manager
Swagger doesn't seem to have any credible babyfaces to feud with as a singles guy and once again his career has hit a road block. So why not put him back in the tag team division where he thrived last year with Cesaro? This time, make Heath Slater a Real American, now that 3MB is over, it's time for an overhaul on Slater, give him a mean streak. Obviously Zeb will do all the work to get them over which I'm sure he will, think it is a great chance right now to re-invent Heath Slater and put the Real Americans back in action. There were rumours flying around plus Zeb himself saying he wants to find a partner for Swagger once the god awful feud with Cesaro was happening. Mercandising can be simple, make those "Zeb's Deportation" lists for sale at live events. "We The People" t-shirts.
The Ascension
Konnor & Viktor
What more needs be said about these guys that hasn't already? It's seriously high questionable as to why they haven't been called up yet on to the main roster yet. Great, great heel team. Marketing is easy for them, they have a great t-shirt out already. Debut them attacking the Uso's and let them win the titles in their debut match.
Another team, that I couldn't accompany a photo with is "The African Wildcats" Kofi Kingston & Justin Gabriel. I didn't accompany a photo because I have major OCD about this stuff and because Gabriel's render doesn't have his new long tights I can't deal with having his short tights on, haha. Two guys going no where right now and putting them together will do tonnes not only to their careers but the tag team division as well. Kids will love them. Easily marketed, t-shirts and wrist bands. Have them debut by feuding with a team like the Real Americans who will argue that they should go back to where they came from, Africa and never come back, to stop stealing real American's jobs, etc. Easily done, yet it simply isn't being done.
