Whatever you’re smoking.. you might wanna switch strains or something. Kobe did have prime Shaq and Kobe ran Shaq out of LA. Prime Shaq is so much better than the best player LeBron ever played with. If you put the players around LeBron that Kobe had, he’d have a minimum of 5 rings. And talk all the trash you want about the East but when LeBron had a average team he’d still carry them to the playoffs. No exit sooner than the second round. When Kobe had an average team, he was missing the playoffs. And by missing the playoffs I don’t just mean in the West. They would’ve missed the playoffs in the East with the record they had. Saying Kobe had Shaq is not a cop out. It’s the truth. The most dominant player in the NBA who was damn near un-guardable and was in his prime and they got 3 championships and Kobe wanted it to be his team and ran Shaq to Miami. Kobe was left as the lone star. His team. And what happened? They sucked. While Shaq won a championship in Miami. Because when Shaq left, Kobe didn't still have another top 20 player. When kyrie left, bron still had love. Shaq won his other title with wade, which is only a small step down from Kobe and LeBron. The cop out is using Shaq, like LeBron hasn't had years of elite players beside him. Look at those lists. Shaq at his best wasn't better than wade and bosh combined. LeBron has constantly had help. This year was the worst team he had had in nearly a decade and it was a team he hand crafted. His coach. His superstar (he had Wiggins, wanted love), his homies Jr and Tristan, his "new blood" hood, Clarkson, nance and hill. There is always an excuse for lebron. Like the broken hand. 1. What person with a broken hand does that self oop of the backboard and throws it down like that? They don't. And he didn't. 2. Why hit a board and not Jr? Who was gonna stop him? Who was gonna snitch on their best player in the finals? LeBron has had the most help of any superstar of the last 20 years. If you take the time to read the names and don't just follow the narrative he wants written. I like you man. You keep me interested in this board. Haha I like you too. Not too often on this site do people like each other but always disagree lol It’s all in fun anyway

Off topic but with the mention of Kobe and Shaq, anyone else annoyed that people try to rewrite NBA history by trying to act like Shaq was Kobe’s sidekick?
Those were Shaq’s teams that won three titles. There’s a reason he won three finals MVP awards. He was Batman and Kobe was his Robin. That’s one of the reasons why Kobe wanted him out of LA so bad. I’m a fan of Kobe but it drives me nuts when people act like he led those first three teams to titles.
If I were to rank Kobe against Laker greats based on their impact on the team and NBA overall, at this moment I’d rank em...
1) Kareem 2) Magic 3) Shaq 4) Kobe

BUT...these warriors are stephs team and most everyone says kd is better. Shaq only won with Kobe or wade. I think Kobe winning with gasol was more impressive and I think he beat a better team (Boston) than Miami did (dallas). Kobe is the better player overall and because he won without Shaq in LA, he is the better Laker by a decent margin. It's all debatable though. I'd rank magic over Kareem too. Magic is the GOAT point guard. Kareem wouldn't hold up. Wilt, Shaq and hakeem would put in work on that boy imo.

Agreed 100% that Kobe was the more talented player, but I look at it as to who was more dominant. I believe that if you replaced Kobe with another high scoring guard from that time (T-Mac, Iverson), the Lakers still win 2-3 titles. But if you replace Shaq, I feel that they’d be lucky to win one.

Wade is more than a small step down from Kobe and Lebron.
Shaq at his best was better than Wade and Bosh combined.

The Orlando Magic wouldve won at least 2 championships if Shaq had stayed there and had Penny Hardaway or Tracy McGrady as his guard.

Had Iverson been in Kobe’s position, they probably would’ve had 4-5 titles, maybe more assuming Shaq/AI weren’t at each other’s throats the same way Shaq/Kobe were. The Lakers dynasty could have easily gone 3-4 more years.

If there was a center in the league now comparable to Shaq he’d dominate the game. Just like Shaq did.

Absolutely blows my mind that people actually think Los Angeles would have won more titles with Alan Iverson instead of Kobe.

I mean look at the guys he took to the finals and got a win with, that shows how good that guy was.

Pretty sure Taker is way past his prime to help the Warriors.

Wade is more than a small step down from Kobe and Lebron. Shaq at his best was better than Wade and Bosh combined. 2008 Dwayne wade: 30.2 pts 5 rebs 7.5 asts 2.2 steals 1.3 blocks 49% fgs No way shaq is better than that plus another all-star. Wade is the 3rd best sg of all time. It isn't like Shaq was untouchable. They wouldn't have been beat badly by the starless pistons if he was.
