I'm worried about some of our UFA. I hope we keep Stralman and Boyle.
I also heard they will buy out Richards which probably be a smart move
Edit- And they're leaning toward making Mcdonagh the captain which is what they should have done during the playoffs because he was awesome

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the buyouts only last season? Hence the buyouts of both Danny and Bryz from Philadelphia and Vinny from Tampa Bay...?

I had no idea the buyouts had a "use'em or lose'em" implication

Ah. I was under the impression they were doing the one offseason, to allow franchises to buyout the big contracts they didn't want.

So I have decided to get back into hockey this upcoming season. I watched when I was much younger but didn't really have a team. After doing some research I've decided to become a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Any advice to a new fan?

Ugh please can we not bring back Richards. Today his agent gut feeling is he will stay but I hope he's wrong
We also need to keep Boyle. He was solid all season and he says he's seeking a "bigger role"

After doing some research I've decided to become a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Any advice to a new fan? Ha yeah I know they have done much since like the 60s. But thats one of the reasons I picked them. Gives me the chance to appreciate the team without jumping on a bandwagon. It'll make it mean much more when they do something big, if that happens.

We also need to keep Boyle. He was solid all season and he says he's seeking a "bigger role" If that's the case I would make Pouliot a higher priority. No disrespect to Boyle, or the house on skates as I refer to him.

I want Boyle and Pouilot back but we NEED Stralman back. Especially how bad our defense looked in the finals.
Because Giradi blows
Also the daily report on Richards is more than like hell be bought out. Then we sign Stralman and hopefully the others

Though I'm sure the likes of Stralman and Niskanen are on the radar instead.

"Dan Girardi blows."
Ugh. By that statement alone, it's clear you only watched the postseason.

You let Stralman go to free agency, let him come to Team Swede.... I mean the Detroit Red Wings Holland confirmed Bertuzzi and Samuelsson wont be back. Tootoo is being bought out. Hopefully we actually get some upgrades this year.

Detroit is already making some moves with Jordin Tootoo being bought out. Wonder what big move they're planning to make...?

Vancouver buying out Booth tells me that they plan on using that cap space. He was still serviceable, and will do great on a 3rd/4th line on a deep team. Less pressure from a big contract. The other situation is Kesler. Still not convinced they're gonna move him, but if they do, i expect it'll be for 2 , young forwards, or 10th overall + someone like Bonino or Etem. I would love to see Callahan in Vancouver, and i have a feeling we'll be getting Shawn Thornton. This team isn't tanking with this management. This is how i'd like to see the roster look..
Sedin-Sedin-Callahan Higgins-Kesler-Jensen Burrows-Horvat-Kassian Thornton-Richardson-Matthias
Still got lots of cap room, so i wouldn't be opposed to either chasing Callahan or Stastny. Should be a very interesting summer.
