So I have decided to get back into hockey this upcoming season. I watched when I was much younger but didn't really have a team. After doing some research I've decided to become a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Any advice to a new fan? Any advice? Sure. When the Leafs start crapping down their leg, you are suppose to post that you don't want to talk about it It doesn't sound like Rozsival will be back next year, and theres been a lot of talk about Sharp and/or Seabrook leaving Chicago via trade. As popular as Sharp is here, he's in his mid 30s and expensive. Seabrook is a great defender and much more valuable to the Hawks. Also, new contract talks have started with Ben Smith, which I'm happy about.

Detroit is already making some moves with Jordin Tootoo being bought out. Wonder what big move they're planning to make...? We're probably going to try to upgrade the defense, Quincey is gone. I know were looking for a right handed guy, plenty of them on free agency. Upfront I doubt we make any big signings unless Alfredsson retires.

Rangers buyout Richards, Kings don't buyout Richards and there's small rumors that the Flyers might make a move for P.K.
Free Agency Deadline is shaping up nicely.

I'm pretty sure it was just a hypothetical possibility CSN Philly covered.

The buzz right now is that Florida will move the 1st overall pick, and all rumours seem to point to Vancouver as most likely. Benning has publicly said he wants Reinhart, and Florida didn't even interview Bennett, Ekblad or Reinhart. Tallon wants Ehlers or Nylander.. and they'll be available at 6th.

I'm pretty sure it was just a hypothetical possibility CSN Philly covered. Like the one they played up with Bobby Ryan for the last couple years? Sorry, CSN Philly always comes off as just a pot-stirrer to me. Provided PK Subban isn't expecting a huge increase and possibly unloading some players, it may be a stronger possibility than I thought.

Saw the Stanley Cup in person today. It was kind of a religious experience.

As much as I liked Hartsie, he was far too over valued. I'm not jumping for joy for RJ either, but it's relieving that that ridiculous contract will no longer hamstring their salary cap for the next 5 years (if only they can do something about Vinny's too). Plus it's a safe bet that Umberger will stay on his damn skates when approaching the net.

I'd talk about it, but between Facebook, texts and work... I'm tired of discussing it.
I'll just say that I'm glad to see R.J. Umberger back in orange and black... especially since I'm not getting Carter and/or Richards back.

If they put RJ on the wing, I feel as if Giroux and RJ could be a treat to watch. But I've always kind of overrated RJ. Thoughts on the Schenn contract?

Umberger is slowing down a lot, Hartnell is a better player right now, but Hartnell has a longer contract, hence the move

Saw the Stanley Cup in person today. It was kind of a religious experience. My sister & I got our pictures taken with the cup last year & that ended up being our Christmas card. I kissed it, & know I'm "not suppose to because I'm not a player." But I didn't give a . I waited all summer to see it! Side note, the Hawks open their home schedule on October 11th, my birthday, against Buffalo. I've already been informed by my sister that going to that game will be my birthday present. So, happy birthday to me!

Talking about in his tier. Crosby is in the top tier. RJ is in a low tier. But he is one of the best players in said tier. Get it now? Haha.

Like I said, it's not a jaw dropping acquisition, but it should benefit them in the long run. It's just mind boggling how short term (some) Philly fans think. Were you seriously expecting the equivalent of a future Hart Trophy candidate in exchange for Scott Hartnell? Not you specifically, of course. Schenn's contract is nowhere near as rough as I anticipated. Forgive me, I'm still used to Homer's "trophy wife at Tiffany's" spending. I personally think Schenn has only scratched the surface as far as potential goes. The kid is only 22, so more time is needed to develop.
