www.ign.com/articles/2014/06/17/boardwalk-empires-final-season-to-jump-yearsThanks to a massive time jump, when Boardwalk Empire returns to HBO for its fifth and final season, we're likely to see the characters in a very different place. Given how things left off last season, it was probably safe to assume that Michael K. Williams' character, Chalky White, would be still looking for revenge against Dr. Narcisse, but as the actor told Den of Geek during a press day for The Purge: Anarchy, the show will have jumped seven years into the future. "The storyline has jumped seven years," he said, "which is why I have the beard now. The Depression has set in. The days of the shiny shoes and fancy suits are long gone." So with The Great Depression now taking center stage, it's possible that we'll see the show's familiar characters struggling with all new economic problems. With Season 4 ending in 1924, the seven year jump would take us past the Stock Market crash of 1929 and into the Depression. Prohibition, however, didn't end until 1933, so booze will still be outlawed and the bootlegging industry should still be in play. -------------------------Who still watches this? I figured there were some fellow fans so what do you think of this news?

I love Boardwalk but I'm not so sure about this.
I really want to see Masseria getting his from Lucky & Bugsy.....and I was hoping the war in Chicago would get some time too. Bugs Moran etc etc.
But I will of course still be watching.

I watch the show and it is great but it isn't one of my favorite shows on tv. I'm interested in how they are going to do this. There is a lot of stuff that happened historically in that seven years so maybe they can do some flashbacks for the major moments they skipped over..?

I love the show & at first, the thought of a time jump worried me. But the fact that they are playing the depression into the mix has me very intrigued. The Chicago story can still play out nicely with Capone.

Very promising first episode.
made me very curious about what actually happened to Chalky to end up where he did...
