WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW (660) January 9, 2006 - Hershey, PAAfter a brief video highlights package for New Year's Revolution, the announce team of just JOEY STYLES and JONATHAN COACHMAN welcomes viewers to Monday Night RAW. A verbal confrontation between WWE Champion JOHN CENA, CARLITO, CHRIS MASTERS and MR. MCMAHON began the night. Carlito questioned whether John Cena deserved to still be champion after using the desperate tactic of a roll-up to beat him and win the WWE's most punishing bout, the Elimination Chamber, last night at New Year's Revolution, but this was a statement which brought out Chris Masters, who was quick to remind Carlito he used the same move to eliminate him! With this, WWE Champion John Cena entered the fray, saying that it doesn't matter how, all that matters is he survived, he is still the champ, and the champ is here and ready to dispel any doubts! Then, Mr. McMahon made arrived, making the decision to force Cena into a must-win handicap match as tonight's main event - with the warning that should he lose, both Carlito and Chris Masters will be his challengers in a Triple Threat Match at the Royal Rumble! 1) GREGORY HELMS def. JERRY LAWLER via pinfall [05:40, 2/5] Helms demanded the match on WWE Unlimited, embarrassed by a loss to 'The King' last night on Pay-Per-View - he amends his record with a shining wizard. Helms also cuts a promo post-match, saying its time to be out with the old and in with the new... he claims 2006 will be his year and he will be a 'real hero' for the WWE fans, not one in a costume, and a real champion - a real 21st Century Star, remember the name, Gregory Helms!MARIA is standing by with SHELTON BENJAMIN and his 'sister', who is in fact MOMMA BENJAMIN. Momma giggles at Maria, fawning over the ditzy diva. Asked about his opponent tonight, Triple H, Shelton says there ain't no stopping him when it comes to Triple H - he always finds a way to play the game! 2) WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS KANE & THE BIG SHOW def. GENE SNITSKY & TYSON TOMKO via pinfall [04:35, 2/5]Non-title match. Kane & Show hit the double chokeslam on Tomko for the win. Snitsky tries a sneak attack after the bell, but gets dumped over the top rope with his partner! A Royal Rumble statement made by the half-tonne champions?A hype video plays for the return of a popular Superstar at the Royal Rumble - ROB VAN DAM! The Cutting Edge is set up in the ring, and the 'Rated R Superstar' EDGE emerges alongside LITA to host his own personal soapbox. Edge says last night, he had an epiphany - call it a late Christmas miracle. He realised he was wasting his time toiling with the likes of washed-up Superstars like Ric Flair. He realised he had to make 2006 his year, and he knows just how he's going to do it - but before we find out, the WWE Intercontinental Champion, RIC FLAIR, makes an appearance! He tells Edge he isn't washed up - he's the man, the stylin' and profilin, limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin', son of a gun they call the 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, and he was in 2005, he is in 2006, and he will be in 2007, and if Edge reckons he is so ready to be a star, why not prove it by beating him in a match? Edge says he has nothing to prove, but he'll never pass up a chance to embarrass Ric Flair! Flair laughs, telling Edge he never asked the stipulation... the Intercontinental Champion telling him it's going to be a Steel Cage Match, next week! A video package plays hyping the Royal Rumble match and it's history. Order the event, live on Pay-Per-View January 29! 3) TRIPLE H def. SHELTON BENJAMIN (managed by MOMMA BENJAMIN) via pinfall [10:28 3/5]Momma wasn't impressed with her son's performance and it showed on her face as she watched Triple H hit Benjamin with the Pedigree for only his second victory over his long-term rival. KURT ANGLE served as guest commentator and engaged in a tense staredown with 'The Game' post bell. Surely they are two favourites for the biggest match of the year? A conference call is taking place in MR. MCMAHON's office between himself and THEODORE LONG, Smackdown's General Manager. He asks him to send some of his top superstars to RAW next week for a battle royal. The prize? The coveted #30 spot in the Royal Rumble! 4) ASHLEY MASSARO def. WWE WOMENS CHAMPION TRISH STRATUS via disqualification [02:39, 1/5]TITLE MATCH! Ashley was yanked out of the ring by MICKIE JAMES, causing the disqualification - no title change! Trish showed concern for her protege after the bell, upsetting the unstable Mickie James. How long before relations turn truly sour between the champ and her super-fan?!Three Divas look on - CANDICE MICHELLE, TORRIE WILSON and VICTORIA - interested in the developments they see. They are in the office of MR. MCMAHON and he flirts with them, saying Charlie had his angels, but Vince has his devils, and he likes it! He then makes an announcement - one of them will be the Playboy cover star for April! But who will it be? MAIN EVENT - CARLITO & CHRIS MASTERS def. WWE CHAMPION JOHN CENA [13:48, 3/5]Non-title match. Carlito nails Cena with the Backcracker, Masters follows up with the Masterlock - Cena submits and we have new #1 contenders! The two looked to carry on their attack after the bell, but SHAWN MICHAELS appears and makes the save! VINCE McMAHON looks on via television backstage and he won't be happy with Michaels' actions, but will he take action against the 'Showstopper'? Find out next week, as RAW now draws to a close!WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT 2006

We're doing near-identical diaries so it'll be interesting to see how different they go. Good RAW to follow up New Year's Revolution, bit bummed you aren't letting Edge run with the gold yet. Will keep reading, good luck!

Welcome back Shifty. I like this time period so I'm interesting in seeing what you do with this. Right off the bat, I really like this layout. It's simple but nice. Instantly see that Edge is not Champion. Intriguing for sure. He only has two more months before he can cash it in. The handicap match main event is cool and I honestly really like the idea of a Triple Threat at Royal Rumble. Gregory Helms getting his win back is smart and I'm interesting in a mid-card push for him. His Cruiserweight Title run was great. Took me a minutes to figure out the "sister" comment but Maria being dumb is something I just remembered. Kane and Big Show winning is fine. Rob Van Dam returning is good, wonder if One Night Stand is going to happen again. I like Edge saying that battling Ric Flair is wasting his time as he should be aiming higher, hopefully next week's Steel Cage match is the end of it. Triple H and Shelton Benjamin always had a good chemistry, so good first hour main event. I easily see Kurt Angle and Triple H as top contenders for the Royal Rumble, but I'm really pulling for Kurt. A battle royal for the 30th spot should be fun. Ashley winning via disqualification is good, as it continues Mickie James' ascent into craziness. Having one of Vince's Devils chosen to be on the cover of Playboy is interesting, though I expect it to be Candice. John Cena submitting to the Masterlock is my only issue with the main event. Don't get me wrong, it makes Chris Masters look super legit, but Cena would never submit. It's totally against his character. The Triple Threat at the Royal Rumble should be awesome and I look forward to more. Maybe Cena & HBK vs. Carlito & Masters next week?

WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN (336) January 13, 2006 - Philadelphia, PA
Friday Night Smackdown is jam packed with action tonight and Michael Cole and Tazz are quick to let us all know! Tonight, a blockbuster announcement from Batista, the return of Piper's Pit, and right now, the finale of the Best of Seven series for the WWE United States Championship!
1) RANDY ORTON (sub.) def. CHRIS BENOIT via pinfall to WIN the WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP (series ends 4-3) [23:07, 4/5] TITLE MATCH. Orton substitute for BOOKER T... DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!!! A two part classic arguably too good for TV, in a word it was eventful! Benoit almost looked a winner after hitting his Fying Headbutt; but Booker T had other ideas. He takes out the ref before joining Orton in a 2-on-1 beatdown. However, ORLANDO JORDAN emerged to even the odds; he clobbers Booker with a chair taking him out, before aiming at the 'Legend Killer' - but it was a swing and a miss as he nails Benoit! Orton RKOs Jordan and covers Benoit as the ref comes round and makes a controversial count to give Orton the win and Booker the title.
In the back, REY MYSTERIO is being standing by JOSH MATTHEWS. Mysterio makes his feelings clear - he blames MARK HENRY for his title loss, and wants a piece of him TONIGHT!!
JILLIAN HALL and JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD step out JBL's limosuine. Jillian tells JBL she's booked him a great gig for tonight - a slot as guest on Piper's Pit! JBL gushes about the great job Jillian is doing managing his career as he adjusts his suit and tie and enters the arena.
2) MATT HARDY def. FINLAY via disqualification [05:39, 2/5] Finlay certainly is an interesting proposition - he can physically match his opponent Hardy, and he is also technically sound. But most importantly, he loves to fight - and chooses instead to take pleasure in the pain of Hardy, using the ring as a weapon, and eventually getting disqualified for using his shillelagh as a weapon!
In the locker room, the celebrations continue for BOOKER T and SHARMELL, but they come crashing to a halt when RANDY ORTON appears. Orton reminds Booker that now he's champion, Booker owes him a favour, whatever, whenever, and wherever he pleases. Booker promises Orton anything that he wants he can have!
3) PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK def. THE MEXICOOLS via pinfall [4:27, 2/5] Standard cruiserweight fare here with the division's champion KID KASH watching as guest commentator. Sliced Bread #2 and a Shooting Star Press on Psicosis gave the exciting London and Kendrick the victory. Are they potential challengers to Kid Kash's gold?!
We then see RODDY PIPER walking to the ring - Piper's Pit is NEXT!
Piper's Pit time! 'ROWDY' RODDY PIPER talks up his guest - a true individual, a fierce competitor, a unique superstar! The wrong man makes his way out, however, as JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD mistakenly assumes that he is the guest and enters with JILLIAN HALL. JBL thanks Piper for gushing about him and continues to talk about how great he is until Piper tells him he wasn't talking about him but another man... a BOOGEYMAN! Initially JBL is unfazed, laughing at the Boogeyman, but he soon finds their is nothing funny about this alternative superstar - he rushes JBL and tries worm him, but JBL makes a hasty exit... leaving Jillian Hall behind! She becomes the freaky fighter's target, and he grabs her face as if to kiss her - but instead eats the grotesque mole on her face! The fans are horrified and Jillian shrieks and squeals, before being silenced by a mouthful of worms! JBL is disgusted as he grabs his image consultants legs and drags her to safety after standing by idly too long!
A hype video for the Royal Rumble now - order it live on Pay-Per-View, January 29!
In the back, MNM are with Mark Henry in the locker room. Henry says that he's done what they PAID him to do - now he's out for himself, not them!!
4) BOBBY LASHLEY def. THE FBI via pinfall in a HANDICAP MATCH [3:13, 1/5] The rookie Lashley seems truly unstoppable! Despite the numbers game being against him and equally sizeable opponent in Vito, Lashley tore through them both, Nunzio with a spear and nailed Vito with the Dominator for another win!
At this point, a "Don't Try This At Home" video plays.
JOSH MATTHEWS catches up with JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD as he leaves the medical room of the arena. Asked for an update on Jillian's condition, JBL says this is exactly why he never liked Matthews, always in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's none anyone's damn business how she is! Matthews dares to probe further, asking his feelings on Boogeyman and Roddy Piper. JBL is irate, and tosses a coffee in his face, and then storms back in the medical room and slams the door!
MAIN EVENT - MARK HENRY def. REY MYSTERIO via pinfall [13:48, 3/5] Mysterio showed real moxie, but it wasn't to be tonight for the Masked Marvel. Mark Henry, who entered solo tonight after shirking his allies MNM, caught Mysterio as he springboarded off the ropes, and shook the ring with a massive World's Strongest Slam to squash his underdog opponent. Silverback indeed!
World Heavyweight Champion BATISTA is shown walking towards the ring - his announcement is NEXT!
The end of the night is now here, and its time for BATISTA's announcement. The World Heavyweight Champion is welcomed down to the ring by Smackdown General Manager THEODORE LONG. After playing to the crowd and saying how proud he is to be the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista breaks the devastating news that he has suffered a serious injury, a torn triceps muscle, and will require surgery as soon as possible. He goes on to explain that as a result, he will be unable to defend the World Heavyweight Championship, and therefore must give up his precious title. The crowd boos as Batista, visibly emotional, hands over the championship to Theodore Long. As 'The Animal' departs, he promises he will be back - and champion - again before 2006 ends. His music hits and he leaves the ring, with Theodore Long left standing alone. Smackdown's General Manager has made an immediate decision on the future of the World Heavyweight Championship. He informs the Smackdown superstars that they will all have a chance to be champion in two weeks time at the Royal Rumble because, for the first time in history, the winner of the Royal Rumble match will be crowned World Heavyweight Champion! On this bombshell of an announcement Smackdown ends!

'WWE-EK' NEWSLETTER - WEEK ENDING 15/1
Despite his claiming otherwise, Batista could well miss the rest of 2006 with his injury, a severe triceps tear. 'The Animal', 35, could be out for as little as six months or as long as eleven depending on how well the former World Heavyweight Champion responds to surgery and subsequent rehabilitation. Batista underwent surgery on January 12, though there is no word as yet on how successful it was.
Expect a RAW Superstar to jump to Smackdown, as officials feel the brand requires 'star-power' in the absence of Batista. Names floated backstage include Rob Van Dam, who officials feel could finally be ready for a long-awaited main event push after returning from a lengthy lay-off, or either one of the World Tag Team Champions Kane or The Big Show, who are thought to be a 'safe pair of hands' who are both over and capable of playing either a face or heel role. These two are thought to be preferred options as their ring work and characters, Show especially, are more similar to the absent 'Animal'.
No word as yet on how the WWE plans to book the title matches for Wrestlemania 22. Original plans slated Batista and John Cena to engage in inter-promotional rivalries to boost ratings on both programs, however, with Batista shelved and certainly out of Wrestlemania, these plans have been nixed.
Another name expected to miss Wrestlemania include Ric Flair, who is still thought to be in the doghouse backstage regarding his 'road-rage' incident in November. 'The Nature Boy', 56, was pencilled in as defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Shelton Benjamin, but now is expected to be removed from TV as soon as February.
One name expected to receive more attention from WWE is the former Hurricane, Gregory Helms. The North Carolina native, 30, is thought to have a place on the Wrestlemania card nailed down in a singles bout against a top star. Another star in the making is Smackdown's Bobby Lashley, who has impressed officials with his fitness levels, ring work and look; there are, however, long term concerns about his promo work.
Officials are thought to be concerned with the flagging tag team divisions on both shows. Expect an injection of new talent or re-shuffle of current superstars to revitalise a tired format.
In results from WWE Velocity (192 - Saturday, 14/1) -
1) The Gymini defeated Billy Baxx and Lee Great 2) Paul Burchill defeated Nick Berk 3) Jamie Noble defeated Scotty Too Hotty
And in results from WWE Sunday Night Heat (381 - Sunday, 15/1) -
1) Val Venis def. Justin Pencano 2) Tyson Tomko def. Antonio (w/Romeo) 3) Lance Cade def. Nick Berk 4) Viscera def. Trevor Murdoch CURRENT CARD: ROYAL RUMBLE
1) 30 Man Royal Rumble Match for the World Heavyweight Championship 2) WWE Championship Triple Threat Match - John Cena (C) vs. Carlito vs. Chris Masters
That's all for this week!

Great to see you back Shifty. This is a great time to be doing a diary. Interesting that the belt didn't go on Edge, but I like it, it's unique. Write ups are great, layout is clean too. Lots of interesting feuds emerging but I'd be most interested with what you do with Edge. Tista being injured also opens up new possibilities. Looking forward to see how this continues.

might I say this was my favorite kind of year, we had Edge as the WWE Champion, we had ECW. we even had D-Generation X. This was a fun year in the WWE 2006. Now with your diary, it's going to get great, Smackdown has a chance in the Royal Rumble Match to win the World Heavyweight Championship, I wonder if RAW is still going to get a shot at winning the Royal Rumble and go on to WrestleMania to face the Champion, I'd be likely surprised if we saw Edge cash in if someone won the World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble in the match. Meaning we could see a Edge/Taker or Edge/Mysterio match at WrestleMania 22. I'd love to see a buildup feud between HHH and Angle with HHH as a face and Angle as a heel. I'd also like to see Angle badmouth Triple H's wife cause Stephanie was pregnant at the time, I'd like to see him do that as well, that would be an epic story, Carlito and Masters are the #1 Contenders as long as I'm okay with it, I'm looking forward to see more from your diary.
Note: WWF Summerslam 1994 is up on the WWF 1993-1994 Diary.

Smackdown, January 13th 2006. Welcome back, Shifty Eyes Crazy Dan biotch yesterday. Let's get to it. Randy Orton winning in a substitute situation for Booker T over Chris Benoit was fine, sets the stage for Benoit versus Booker one more time I'd assume. Interesting situation with Orlando Jordan practically costing Benoit the match, though. Finlay getting disqualified is fine, as long as we don't see a drug out feud between him and Hardy I'm fine with it. Orton is owed a favor, maybe he wants to sniff Sharmell's feet! Oh wait, that's Kurt Angle. Anyway. Decent tag match with Londrick beating The Mexicools here, nothing special other than promoting up the tag division. Aoh, the thing on Jillian's face. I completely forgot about that... thanks for the reminder. Bobby Lashley defeating The FBI is good to see, Lashley was actually a guy I didn't mind (unlike some others) and hopefully you treat him right. Mark Henry versus Rey Mysterio was a decent main event. Glad to see the World's Strongest Man get the win as he could be a serious threat for the Royal Rumble... which turns out to be for the World Heavyweight Championship!? I'm really surprised to see you pull that, honestly. I would have assumed you would have done what was actually done with the battle royal or maybe do a tournament or something. Nonetheless, I dig it. Welcome back, Shifty bitch.

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW (661) January 16, 2006 - Raleigh, NC
JOEY STYLES, JERRY LAWLER and JONATHAN COACHMAN welcome viewers at home to another edition of Monday Night RAW full of action: a tag team main event of WWE Champion John Cena & Shawn Michaels against Carlito & Chris Masters, a Street Fight between Edge and Ric Flair, and now - a 10-man battle royal!
1) WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPION BOOKER T WON 10-MAN BATTLE ROYAL for entry #30 in the Royal Rumble [17:00, 3/5] Other entrants: CHRIS BENOIT, GENE SNITSKY, JOHNNY NITRO, JOEY MERCURY, REY MYSTERIO, KURT ANGLE, SHELTON BENJAMIN, TYSON TOMKO, TRIPLE H. Booker T would tell you it was an impressive victory but it was far from it. After being chased under the bottom rope by Chris Benoit early on and thrown over the stairs, Booker claimed his groin had flared up and sat the match out! He was never eliminated, snuck back in and threw Benoit, the last man after an unsteady alliance of rivals Angle and Triple H imploded and eliminated each other, up and over the closest rope, sending him out of the match and winning the coveted number for himself!
In the locker room, MR. MCMAHON is with SHAWN MICHAELS - he tells Michaels to tow the line, and do as he says. No more pandering to the crowd, do his bidding - and he wants another 'barber shop moment' tonight, and tells Michaels to turn on his partner Cena and weaken him for the Royal Rumble or face the consequences! Michaels tells Vince he's wasting his time - he's a changed man! A video package hypes the return of ROB VAN DAM in two weeks at the Royal Rumble! SHELTON BENJAMIN is with his MOMMA in the locker room. She tells him nothing would make her prouder than him winning the Royal Rumble match, and Shelton vows to do his best. KURT ANGLE steps out of the shower and laughs, telling Momma that Shelton hasn't done anything since he stopped being his mentor! Shelton fires back, telling Kurt he's held gold longer out of the two of them since Team Angle ended! TRIPLE H then enters the fray, saying none of them are number 30, but one of them will be the winner of the Royal Rumble - ME! A tense three way staredown ensues as Momma looks on with concern. 2) WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS KANE & THE BIG SHOW def. VAL VENIS & VISCERA via pinfall [01:57, 1/5] The World Tag Team Champions make quick work of this, winning with a double chokeslam to Venis. Viscera tried to take the half-tonne tandem down after the bell, but only suceeding in knocking Kane down, with Big Show making the save; Kane then joins his partner in clotheslining Viscera over the top rope! Another Royal Rumble statement made.
MARIA is standing by with EDGE and his girlfriend, 'lighter'. LITA then corrects Maria on the pronunciation of her name, berating her by saying they give anyone a job now here. Edge then makes a statement, saying that after tonight he's done with the likes of Flair - he's got bigger fish to fry and soon the world will see what! 3) EDGE (ACCOMPANIED BY LITA) def. WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION RIC FLAIR IN A STEEL CAGE MATCH VIA ESCAPE [11:13, 3/5]Many in the arena expected Edge to come out with the win and he did - though not through the means anyone would have expected. Ric Flair had truly dealt out the punishment on Edge, making the 'Rated R Superstar' seem helpless, but that wasn't the case as help was on the way from an unexpected ally - GREGORY HELMS! As he Flair attempted to walk out of the door, he hit the ring and whacked Flair with a chair to the ribs that took him to his knees, before following up with one to the head! Edge took the unexpected assist and closed the book on the rivalry by walking out of the cage door!
Edge got straight out of the ring with Lita, happy to be out of the match as Helms unfolded the chair and grabbed a mic. He said he is the '21st Century Star' and Flair should have stayed where he belongs - the 20th century, the last millenium, away from the WWE! He says being the Intercontinental Championship was once a sign you were the next big thing, and it's time for Flair to accept he's had his day and let a 'real hero' bring honour back to the title - and challenges him to a title match at the Royal Rumble! TODD GRISHAM is standing by with WWE Women's Champion TRISH STRATUS. He asks Trish if she can trust her partners to get along tonight - Trish says that she can't answer that, but she hopes they can hold it together for her sake! 4) VINCE'S DEVILS def. ASHLEY MASSARO, MICKIE JAMES & WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPION TRISH STRATUS via pinfall [04:04, 2/5]The uneasy alliance finally imploded tonight! Ashley looked set to pick up the win, but Mickie was determined to be the one to claim the fall - an argument ensued and Mickie kicked Ashley in the head!! A stunned Trish flew into a rage screaming at Mickie, who smirked and walked off as Torrie pinned Ashley. As "Vince's Devils" - CANDICE MICHELLE, TORRIE WILSON and VICTORIA - return backstage, MR. MCMAHON himself is waiting. He says he has good news for them, he just got off the phone with Playboy, and WWE has yet another cover girl! Torrie Wilson gets ready to thank Vince for getting her on the cover again, but she and Victoria are both shocked to find out it's Candice on the cover! MAIN EVENT - CARLITO & CHRIS MASTERS def. WWE CHAMPION JOHN CENA & SHAWN MICHAELS via pinfall [12:47, 3/5] Shawn Michaels defied Mr. McMahon and he made sure that he paid for it! He entered the arena as Michaels had the win almost sealed, distracting him and leaving him open to a Backcracker from Carlito. With Michaels down, Cena was left prone to a vicious two-on-one attack! Masters locked him in the Masterlock yet again, and Carlito attacked his ribs with a steel chair! Meanwhile, Vince McMahon had come closer to the ring. He stands over the champion, saying good luck sarcastically, before turning to his real target - Shawn Michaels. He says Carlito and Masters are men who know their job - and if he had, maybe he wouldn't be having to try to win the Royal Rumble from #1 all over again!! On this bombshell, RAW ends for another week. WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT 2006

nice show man, Booker as the #30 entry seems okay and now HBK as the #1 entry, hmmm. It's going to be an interesting rumble to say the least, Helms and Flair at the Royal Rumble should be fine with Helms winning the Intercontinental Title, hopefully. I'd like to see Edge win the World Heavyweight Title at the Royal Rumble, maybe someone could win the World Title at the Royal Rumble and then Edge will cash it in and win the championship at the Rumble, great show man, now leave a reply to my WWF 1993-1994 Diary.

I never liked that Randy Orton was able to win the United States Title for Booker and never asked for a title shot or anything, but that's a real life gripe. This got a lot of time but I loved their SummerSlam '04 match so I'm okay with this. Big challenge from Rey Mysterio, I hope he doesn't win the Royal Rumble though. Never a big Finlay fan but having him decide to use the shillelagh makes him seem vicious. And here goes Orton saying he's owed a favor. That works just as well. Interesting to have a tag team, Paul London and Brian Kendrick, noted as potential challengers for a singles title. Keeping the Boogeyman eating Jillian's mole is a fun but gross way to get rid of that. Bobby Lashley dominating makes sense, hope he has a big role in the Rumble. Mark Henry winning is a good move, he was getting a bit of a push again. Batista relinquishing the title opens up a lot of opportunities but I hope it doesn't lead to Kurt Angle vs. Mark Henry at the Rumble. Overall, another solid show.
You have your first Raw noted as episode 661 and the second one as 660. Smart to open with the battle royal and interesting to have Booker T earn the #30 spot. I remember him getting eliminated quickly in this Rumble. Weird that Momma Benjamin would be in the shower with the guys. Another win for Big Show and Kane is fine, I wonder what they're going to do at WrestleMania. I would've put Edge/Flair on last since it's a Steel Cage match and it's in North Carolina. Gregory Helms assisting Edge is seriously something I did not see coming so kudos there. Helms challenging Flair for the belt is interesting. Vince's Devils winning because of Mickie kicking Ashley is great, love the continued dissension there. Candice being chosen for Playboy will lead to something at WrestleMania I believe. Masters made Cena submit and Carlito has pinned Shawn Michaels. Big weeks for them, well done. HBK as number 1 is interesting but I hope you don't announce any other people's numbers. Another good show. This diary is off to a strong start.

WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN (337) January 20, 2006 - Florence, SC
MICHAEL COLE & TAZZ welcome us to another blockbuster Smackdown this week with a huge main event - new WWE United States Champion Booker T defending vs Chris Benoit!
REY MYSTERIO opens the show with a promo. He says that he knows nobody believes him when he says this, but he's certain he has it in him to WIN the Royal Rumble match and bring home the World Heavyweight Championship. He says he has had his moments in his career where he questioned his abilities, but he always had one man - Eddie Guerrero - to reassure him he was capable of making it, and seeing Eddie himself reach the very top of the business will fire up the Latino Heat in himself and drive him onto a Royal Rumble championship victory! It looks like being a happy moment for Mysterio until a shocking theme song rings out - that of KURT ANGLE!! Angle says he asked Theodore Long to be allowed on Smackdown to scout competition and Long obliged, but if this is the best Smackdown has to offer there is nothing to worry about: Kurt Angle will win the Royal Rumble, it's true, it's damn true! Rey challenges Angle to back up his words and beat him in a match right here, right now! Angle says that he won't wrestle without his personal referee, Daivari, being in charge - but THEODORE LONG, Smackdown's GM now appears. He says Kurt is on Smackdown under his jurisdiction, and he's making the match - Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio, and since he's on Smackdown, it'll be a Smackdown official in charge!
1) REY MYSTERIO def. KURT ANGLE (accompanied by DAVAIRI) via pinfall [10:33, 3/5] An unexpected, yet excellent opener! Back and forth action between these two former frequent rivals. Rey rolled through the Ankle Lock and hung Angle up on the middle rope for the 619, before dropping the dime for a monumentous victory!
Angle complains, saying he wanted Daivari as ref but it's no good - the decision stands, Mysterio beats Angle!!
In the interview area, MARK HENRY is being interviewed by JOSH MATTHEWS. Matthews questions Henry on whether he really is the strongest, most dominant, superstar on Smackdown now that Batista is injured. Henry says has had enough of Matthews questioning his ability, and threatens to demonstrate just how powerful he is on him! Then, BOBBY LASHLEY appears - he says he thinks that he is the most dominant superstar on Smackdown, undefeated since his debut, and equally as strong as Henry - he's a better superstar today than Henry has been in 10 years! Shots fired by the young upstart!
MNM are interviewed by JOSH MATTHEWS. Matthews asks about their Royal Rumble strategy, wondering whether they'll turn on each other in the case where one man may be able to win the title. MELINA answers that the only thing that matters is that one brings home the gold - it doesn't matter who! MERCURY and NITRO, however, don't look as sure.
2) WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS MNM (accompanied by MELINA) def. THE MEXICOOLS via pinfall [04:37, 2/5] Non-title match. Basic victory for MNM - they nail Psicosis with a Snapshot behind the ref's back off a Melina distraction. Interesting developments post match, as both Nitro and Mercruy signal they want the World title and their is some tension - though it is quickly defused by Melina.
ORLANDO JORDAN is backstage in the locker room, when he spots CHRIS BENOIT warming up! Jordan apologises profusely for his inadvertent blunder last week - and offers to be Benoit's cornerman to defuse the threat of Sharmell. Benoit warns Jordan to stay away this time - or he won't have time to tap, cos he'll jump straight to the snap!!
In the back, PALMER CANNON is standing by with THEODORE LONG, telling him he's doing an adequate job as Smackdown General Manager, and the network is impressed with the success of the 'new talent initiative' over the past few months. Long seems bemused by the backhanded compliment... only adequate?!
3) THE BOOGEYMAN def. WILLIAM REGAL (accompanied by PAUL BURCHILL) via pinfall [02:03, 1/5] Boogeyman made quick work of the wily veteran Regal, hitting him with the BoogeyBomb to take the victory.
Boogeyman is about to worm Regal, when Burchill pulls him out of the ring and to safety! Boogey instead feasts on the worms himself, enjoying them until JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD appears on the big screen and tells Boogey that he isn't at Smackdown this week because he's comforting Jillian as she recovers from plastic surgery made necessary by him eating her growth - but he'll make him pay in two weeks time at the Royal Rumble when they go toe-to-toe!
MATT HARDY is being interviewed by JOSH MATTHEWS backstage. He says Finlay embarrassed him last week, and this week, it's his turn!!
4) FINLAY def. MATT HARDY via countout [5:12, 2/5] Last week it was a disqualification, this time a countout! Hardy is trapped between the ring and the apron by Finlay and can't escape - giving Finlay his first victory.
A Royal Rumble hype video plays. Order it, live on Pay-Per-View, January 29!
5) PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK def. JAMIE NOBLE & WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION KID KASH via pinfall [03:26, 2/5] London and Kendrick picked up another victory en-route to perhaps contention for the Cruiserweight title after the Sliced Bread #2 / Shooting Star Press combo on Jamie Noble. Kid Kash made a quick getaway - is he afraid of the threat to his title?!
A "Don't Try This At Home" video plays now, before it's time for the main event.
MAIN EVENT - WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPION BOOKER T (accompanied by SHARMELL) def. CHRIS BENOIT via pinfall [20:14, 3/5] TITLE MATCH! Booker retains. An excellent back and forth encounter to close out this week's edition of Smackdown. Booker, for once, lost the advantage that is Sharmell early on, and had to go it alone for the most part! He still cheated his way to a victory, however - he crotched Benoit on the rope as he went up high for the headbutt, and hit him with a Scissor Kick as he tried to to escape his entaglement
Booker stood, somewhat in shock that he had somehow beaten Chris Benoit yet again, as the referee handed him his United States gold!
Smackdown closes on a somewhat ominous note, as SHARMELL, watching backstage on a television, is stalked by RANDY ORTON, who creeps up on her and tells her to remind her husband of their arrangement - and he knows what he wants him to do for him! On this, Smackdown ends!
