WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN (339) February 3, 2006 - ORLANDO, FL
MICHAEL COLE and TAZZ welcome the WWE fans to an exciting edition of Friday Night Smackdown, where we'll see Randy Orton host a 'Championship Celebration' later tonight and the return of The Undertaker, but now, Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long.
THEODORE LONG stands by in the ring, telling all the Smackdown fans that following an unconventional Royal Rumble, we have no number one contender for Wrestlemania in place... He says as a result, he has decided to host a 'Road to Wrestlemania' tournament, featuring eight of Smackdown's top Superstars competing for the chance to be Randy Orton's number one contender at Wrestlemania, and No Way Out will play host to the two semi-final matches and the final!! The Superstars he has chosen to have the chance to main event Wrestlemania then flash up on the screen one by one... THE BOOGEYMAN, CHRIS BENOIT, FINLAY, JOEY MERCURY, JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD, JOHNNY NITRO, MARK HENRY and REY MYSTERIO! He then has good news for the WWE fans in attendance; the tournament starts right now!
1) MARK HENRY def. THE BOOGEYMAN via pinfall to advance in the 'ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA' TOURNAMENT [06:20, 2/5] The Boogeyman puts up a fair fight, and whilst Henry was always going to be the victor, the theme of JBL ringing out distracts Boogeyman enough to bring the contest to an abrupt end; Henry capitalises on the distraction and nails a World's Strongest Slam.
In the office of THEODORE LONG stands REY MYSTERIO -the 'Masked Marvel' reminds the Smackdown General Manager he never cashed in his rematch clause for the WWE Tag Team Championships because of Batista's injury. He says he wants his rematch tonight! Long grants the request, as long as Mysterio can find a partner, but Rey is one step ahead and introduces BOBBY LASHLEY as his partner! A blockbuster main event here on Smackdown!
2) 'THE STONE TWINS' (accompanied by SIMON DEAN) def. PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK via pinfall [02:49, 2/5] The former 'Gymini' Jake and Jesse get a new name and a new reinvigorated attitude here - now dubbed the Stone Twins, Simon Dean sat on commentary notes it's an appropriate name given the chiselled physique of his Simon System followers. They defeat their smaller opponents when Jesse nails London with an Exploder Suplex.
JOSH MATTHEWS is standing by with the 'Rabid Wolverine' CHRIS BENOIT. Asked about his part in the Road to Wrestlemania tournament, Benoit says he'll be scouting his first round opponent, Finlay, closely tonight as he'll have to be well prepared to beat the wily veteran next week!
A hype video plays for NO WAY OUT - order it on Pay-Per-View February 19!
3) WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPION BOOKER T (accompanied by SHARMELL) def. MATT HARDY via pinfall [05:58, 3/5] Not the result Matt Hardy would have hoped for. He looked in control until Sharmell distracted the ref and in turn Hardy, allowing Booker to nail 'The Man Who Will Not Die' with a low-blow and roll him up for a cheap win.
Sharmell shrieks as she climbs in the ring to celebrate her husband's victory, but the celebrations are short-lived: the arena falls dark, and the crowd cheers... Gold glitter is dumped from the ceiling onto the WWE United States Champion and his wife, and a familiar phrase appears on screen 'a SHATTERED DREAMS PRODUCTION' and GOLDUST appears at the head of the ramp! The 'Bizarre One' blows a kiss to his former partner - what does he want with Booker T?!
A 'Don't Try This At Home' video plays now.
KRISTAL is standing by with BOBBY LASHLEY and REY MYSTERIO - she asks what they think of their chances of becoming champions tonight! Lashley says he's never had a title match in WWE, and it's an honour to compete with a Superstar like Rey Mysterio as his partner. Rey Mysterio says those titles mean a lot to him - last year, he won them with two of his best friends, Batista and Eddie Guerrero, and tonight he wants them back!
As we return from the commercial break, JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD is stood in the ring. He says earlier tonight, he started his revenge on The Boogeyman, but it isn't just him he wants to deliver payback to; it's Roddy Piper as well! He invites Piper to Smackdown next week - telling him to be a man and confront him face to face, not attack him when his back is turned! He then says the real reason he is out here is that Smackdown has to welcome back a not so familiar face; the 'new and improved' Jillian Hall! Jillian enters, with her face in a mask one would wear with a broken nose; Jillian says that JBL has been her 'rock', but personal matters aside, she's glad to be back doing what she does best - helping the world recognise a 'Wrestling God', Smackdown's longest reigning WWE Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield! Then, the arena fills with smoke and goes dark - the crowd cheers again but it's THE BOOGEYMAN this time, the brawler from under the bed appearing on the screen reciting 'Hickory Dickory Dock', replacing the mouse with 'John' - he finishes by saying 'tick, tock, tick, tock, JBL, Jillian, your time is up!!!' and smashing the clock over his head - he bellows "I'M THE BOOGEYMAN, AND IM COMIN' TO GET YA!" at the two who are really unsettled by the supernatural Superstar - has he got in their heads?!
4) FINLAY def. ORLANDO JORDAN via pinfall [05:58, 2/5] With Chris Benoit looking on, Finlay was on his best behaviour and actually proved he can win a match fair and square - he put away Jordan with a Celtic Cross after going through the match without cheating! A wasted scouting mission by Benoit perhaps?
PALMER CANNON is standing by with WILLIAM REGAL and PAUL BURCHILL - Cannon tells Regal that Burchill has decided to advance his career, he wants to create a new identity for himself - he then introduces 'Buccaneer' Burchill; Regal asks WHAT THE DEVIL ARE YOU DOING?, obviously less than impressed with his partner's new image!
MAIN EVENT - WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS MNM (accomp. by MELINA) def. BOBBY LASHLEY & REY MYSTERIO via pinfall [12:13, 3/5] TITLE MATCH!! MNM retains. A two part, back and forth Main Event here to close Smackdown! Surprisingly, it's Lashley that struggles and is isolated through this match, the crowd willing the red-hot rookie into the match with claps and chants. Lashley eventually makes the hot tag to Mysterio who flies in and manages to get Nitro in place for a 619; he nails it but Mercury makes a blind tag, sneaks in, nails the Swinging Neckbreaker on Mysterio and steals away the win!
RANDY ORTON is shown arriving at the arena, swigging from a champagne glass as he steps out of a limosuine; he brings his 'Championship Celebration' to Smackdown next!
Finally, it's time for the 'Championship Celebration' of NEW World Heavyweight Champion RANDY ORTON. Orton enters to a stream of confetti, fireworks, and gold balloons as he holds up the World Heavyweight Championship for the second time in his career! He begins to speak, saying that everybody better get a look at greatness and get used to it; Randy Orton is the World Heavyweight Champion, and it isn't going to change any time soon. He describes his title win; he says it took guile, it took guts, but most of all, it took greatness - he was born for this, a 3rd Generation Superstar, he has legendary pedigree and he wants everybody in the back to come out and personally shake his hand and congratulate him on his victory! However, the only person to enter the arena is THEODORE LONG, Smackdown's General Manager! The GM quickly tells Orton that he may be champion, but he makes no decisions around here - and he certainly doesn't demand respect, he'll have to earn it! He says that he can start at No Way Out, when he goes one on one with - and Long is cut off here by PALMER CANNON! Cannon says that in the interest of good ratings and good television, he went over Theodore Long's head and made a massive signing for Smackdown, and he's decided that he will be the number one contender at No Way Out... that man is KURT ANGLE! Angle enters, and immediately charges to the ring to go nose to nose with Randy Orton, a stand-off only being prevented by his manager DAIVARI. Long tells the 'gentlemen' to calm down, and welcomes Angle to Smackdown but reminds Cannon he isn't the only one who can make decisions and his choice of contender will also stand - the arena then falls dark, and we hear the GONG!!! as the crowd explodes - THE UNDERTAKER then appears in the ring, punches Angle to the ground and grabs Daivari by the neck whilst booting Orton to the ground. He nails Daivari with a ring shaking chokeslam! Angle pulls his personal referee out of the ring and Orton backs up the ramp staring between his two challengers; in three weeks time, will there be No Way Out for Randy Orton?!

WWE-EK NEWSLETTER - WEEK ENDING 5/2
We are hearing a SHOCKING rumour coming out of WWE this week; KURT ANGLE was set to be left out of Wrestlemania until his move to Smackdown. There would have been no place for Angle but THE UNDERTAKER has reportedly requested to work a match with Angle at the showcase in Chicago. Original plans had 'the Deadman' set against Mark Henry, but after he clumsily injured Batista last month, he caught heat with Undertaker and like last year, the 15 year veteran refused to work a Wrestlemania program. There is a rumour swirling that this could be Undertaker's final appearance at the event; his schedule has slowed considerably in the past three years, and he wants to put Angle over and revitalise his career as his own winds down.
The WWE's 'only Olympic Gold Medalist' KURT ANGLE was featured on UPN33 in an interview this week following Smackdown. Angle discussed how he felt that the WWE lost faith in him and no longer trusts him as a top champion; he claims he has had to change people’s perspectives of him by working harder than he ever has in the last two and a half years. Angle said that he plans on wrestling for another five years and would like to start a career in acting. Angle's comments were initially divisive amongst top officials, but they eventually allowed them them to air, feeling the comments put Angle over as a blue collar hero always working hard for his spot.
In an interesting note, SHAWN MICHAELS confirmed in a recent IGN interview that his request to wrestle THE ROCK at Wrestlemania was declined. The Rock still carries a great deal of resentment towards Michaels, and as he is now arguably the bigger star, he has the power to belittle the 'Heartbreak Kid' in a similar manner to how he did ten years ago. The comment coming from Rock's camp is that Michaels is not a 'big enough star' to sell the match as 'Icon vs. Icon'.
Officials are increasingly frustrated with RANDY ORTON, particularly as several veterans, including Chris Benoit and The Undertaker, feel he has the raw talent to be one of the greatest of all time, but his temperment is just too volatile. After the release of Mark Jindrak and the injury of Mr. Kennedy, Orton has few real friends on the Smackdown roster and is increasingly isolated which is only proving detrimental to his demeanour. One official was quoted by me as saying 'he is so much trouble that we wish we could release him tomorrow' but his mammoth ten year deal means the pay off is too great; additionally, the WWE is reluctant to let any more top Superstars go without a genuine fight to hold onto them following Christian Cage's jump to TNA Wrestling.
Speaking of TNA Wrestling, they made waves last week when STING debuted on their 'iMPACT!' program. This marked Sting's first televised appearance in just under five years. The appearance of Sting came up on WWE's radar, as they feel it is a 'major' acquisition.
The WWE is interested in signing SAMOA JOE from TNA Wrestling; this would be the second potential star poached by WWE following the jump of Sonny Siaki in December. The 'Samoan Submission Machine' is recommended by WWE Champion John Cena, who maintains a close friendship dating back to their UPW days. They are also interested in re-siging JEFF HARDY; despite his substance abuse problems, at only 29 he is still young enough to turn it around and maintains support from influential figures backstage. Another name popping up on the radar of officials is NIGEL McGUINNESS, who has staunch support from PAUL HEYMAN who is desperate to sign the Brit.
We can now confirm the following Superstars and Divas have entered the final year of their current deals; THE BIG SHOW, CHRIS BENOIT, KURT ANGLE, LITA, MARK HENRY, REY MYSERTIO and TRISH STRATUS. We can also confirm that only three of these superstars are expected to re-sign with the company on new deals; and two have already has confirmed their intention to depart.
In results from WWE Velocity (195 - Saturday, 4/2) -
1) Jamie Noble defeated Super Crazy 2) Scotty-Too-Hotty defeated Simon Dean 3) Road Warrior Animal defeated Vito
And in results from WWE Heat (384 - Sunday, 5/2) -
1) Stevie Richards defeated Jimmy Yang 2) Rob Conway defeated Scotty Colton 3) Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch defeated V-Squared to become #1 contenders to the World Tag Team Championsjhips

Alright, Smackdown! A Road to WrestleMania tournament sounds good to me and out of all of the guys involved in the tournament, it seems like it'll be either Chris Benoit or Rey Mysterio with the latter more likely. Although I'd like to see it come full circle and be Benoit vs Orton, that'd be great. Mark Henry winning against The Boogeyman, thank the lord, to start things off with JBL distracting Boogeyman. I hate Boogeyman, man. Really do. Rey Mysterio and Bobby Lashley as partners, eh? I don't see them winning the belts, though, with Rey being in the tournament on the Road to WrestleMania. The Stone Twins beating Londrick is fine, I suppose, as it helps build up the tag division even though I don't believe in the former Gymini being too legitimate. Booker T defeating Matt Hardy doesn't surprise me here but what does suprise me is Goldust! Ah, he's targeting his former partner and friend in Booker T! A good return for him and I see them battling at WrestleMania for the United States Championship. God, I hate The Boogeyman. Finlay beating Orlando Jordan was quite obvious having to face Benoit soon. Buccaneer Burchill. Oh lord, here we go with the pirates! ARR! MNM defeating Lashley and Mysterio was for the best and expected as Rey can now go back to focusing on the World Title tournament that he has a good opportunity to win. Finally, an explosive promo to end the show with Kurt Angle and The Undertaker attacking Randy Orton and bringing an end to the show with a triple threat match set. I could see Undertaker facing Angle at WrestleMania - which would be awesome - while Orton retains and faces the winner of the tournament. A good show overall, liking the stage set for WrestleMania so far even though we still have No Way Out to go.

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW (663) February 6, 2006 - Atlanta, GAJOEY STYLES, JONATHAN COACHMAN AND JERRY LAWLER welcome us to another edition of MONDAY NIGHT RAW with TWO title matches set for tonight; Cade & Murdoch challenging Kane & The Big Show in World Tag Team title action, and Ric Flair's return match against Gregory Helms for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. JOHN CENA opens the show, talking about Wrestlemania 22 and how it will be the biggest moment of both his own career and Edge's. He tells Edge that they are two sides of the same coin; everyone said neither could make it to the top. He acknowledges people still boo him every week despite him being WWE Champion. And he reminds Edge of all the slander he has had to handle.. they told him he was too goofy to make it, a 'a tag team guy', people called for your head last year and you know why; and yet he's here, and now he is number one contender to the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. He says they both have dreamed about this moment since they were kids; Edge in the stands for the 'Ultimate Challenge' at Wrestlemania VI, and he grew up making his own title belts and wrestling his brothers in the backyard - and now it all comes down to one match in 57 days at Wrestlemania 22. EDGE then arrives with LITA on his arm; the 'Rated R Superstar' sarcastically applauds Cena's speech, saying it made him feel sick to hear Cena compare himself and Edge. Edge reminds everyone that he is nothing like Cena; he's broken his neck for the dream of being WWE Champion, he's fought harder and longer than Cena, and he'll do WHATEVER is necessary to win; unlike Cena, he isn't just some hairless ape in jean-shorts; he was trained by some of the best in the business, damn near froze to death in the Canadian tundra all in the hopes of one day making it to WWE to have that gold John Cena is holding right now. He admits he was watching the 'Ultimate Challenge' sixteen years ago but now he is the 'Ultimate Opportunist' with the 'Ultimate Opportunity; to end the longest and most boring WWE title reign since in 10 years at Wrestlemania, begin the 'Rated R Era' and become the greatest WWE Superstar of all time! Cena says Edge was one of his best friends starting out in the WWE, but he can see that he's changed, and only wishes that at Wrestlemania, the best man wins; he offers his hand but Edge slaps it away and Cena squares up to him nose-to-nose, but whilst his back is turned Lita nails him with a low-blow!! Cena collapses in a heap, and as he struggles to his feet, Edge nails him with a Spear! Edge hoists the WWE Championship up in the air as his theme plays, a message sent! As we return to the air, JOEY STYLES runs us through what happened at the weekend on HEAT; Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch beat Val Venis & Viscera and Gene Snitsky & Tomko to become number one contenders to the World Tag Team Championships. 1) WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS KANE & THE BIG SHOW def. LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH via disqualification [06:06, 2/5]TITLE MATCH!! Kane & Big Show retain. A massive opening contest here as Cade & Murdoch had their first chance following a reunion to be champs once more; however, neither side expected CARLITO and CHRIS MASTERS again to interfere, with a replica of their attack from last week - Big Show pulled from the apron, and Kane nailed with the Bearhug/Backcracker combo! Carlito and Masters make it clear to Kane and Big Show that they want a shot at the gold, signalling for the titles by rubbing their waists but they forget about Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, who jump them from behind! Masters rolled out of the ring, and Carlito gets hit with the clothesline and chop block combo! The southern boys are pissed and now their rivals know about it! In the back, MR. McMAHON is coming out of a doorway with a coffee when he bumps into RIC FLAIR; the coffee spills all down McMahon's suit, and the WWE Chairman is furious with his one time co-owner; he booms at Flair that he better win tonight, cos it's not just the Intercontinental Championship on the line, it's his WWE career too!! In the ring, we see ROSEY standing by; the 'Streetwise Superhero' speaks to the 'citizens' in attendance, and tries to give them some friendly parenting advice about curfews in a dangerous city like Atlanta; he says crime may be down but there's still danger on the streets, so keep your kids on a curfew and get them inside early! Atlanta boos Rosey for inadvertantly slamming their town and cheer the arrival of SHELTON BENJAMIN! 2) SHELTON BENJAMIN (accompanied by MRS. B) def. ROSEY via pinfall [05:11, 2/5]Rosey is looking like a formidable opponent, but he was no match for Shelton Benjamin, who couldn't quite get him up for a T-Bone Suplex and instead knocked him down with a big Flying Clothesline.A car pulls up and a man in a suit steps out. He moves around the car and opens the other door, and WWE Women's Champion TRISH STRATUS steps out! Who is the man she is with? We'll find out NEXT! As we return from the break, we see TRISH STRATUS already standing in the ring with the mysterious, suited man. She says that she takes her life in her hands in the ring every time she competes; but she can't live her life looking over her shoulder once she gets out of it. And that over the past few months, she has had to stand by and watch as someone she considered a protege, but more importantly a friend, change into something that she is admittedly a little scared of. She doesn't quite know what to make of Mickie James anymore, but she has something to tell her; she doesn't love her, and she never will. She says she's scared of what this 'love' Mickie claims to has for her has done; she had suspicions about her intentions ever since the kiss at Christmas. And seeing as Mickie is behaving more and more erratically, for her own safety, she, along with her LAWYER, has drawn up a restraining order meaning Mickie must keep a minimum 50 yard distance at all times! Trish says she is only doing this as she worries just what Mickie would try to do to her having been rejected, and she wants to know that she is safe! Trish then shows the audience the contract, and says she will personally keep hold of it so that Mickie can't try to take it and rip it up. Trish then exits, a bombshell of an announcement made! MARIA is standing by with Mr. 'Tuesday' Night, ROB VAN DAM. RVD quickly corrects her and reminds her that it's actually Monday, not Tuesday, and Maria blushes. She asks RVD her question; just what are his targets in 2006 having missed a year of in ring action to injury? Van Dam compliments Maria on the question, and says he wants to do what he's never done; become WWE Champion! Then, MRS. B and SHELTON BENJAMIN walk by; Mrs. B smirks and says RVD ain't got no chance when her son Shelton is gonna do exactly the same! Shelton quickly apologises for his Mother, and wishes RVD the best of luck on his quest. Are the two future WWE Championship rivals? Backstage in the locker room, we see TRIPLE H sat sipping water when SHAWN MICHAELS enters. Michaels says he knows what McMahon has asked him to do, and he knows they haven't exactly been the best of friends since he came back. But Michaels pleads with 'The Game' not to abide by what McMahon is asking him to do; he tells him to be his own man like he always has been, not a stooge of Mr. McMahon. We see a quick "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME VIDEO" now. 3) ROB VAN DAM def. GENE SNITSKY (accompanied by TYSON TOMKO) via pinfall [03:59, 2/5] RVD continues to build momentum as he continues his impressive return. He takes down an interfering Tomko along the way with a jumping side kick and nails Snitsky with the Five Star Frog Splash for the win.In the office of MR. McMAHON, we see LANCE CADE and TREVOR MURDOCH. They are still angry about their match earlier in the evening, and demand another shot at the gold. McMahon says they can have another shot, but they'll have to share it this time with another team; CARLITO and CHRIS MASTERS! Backstage, we see various members of WWE's security team dragging MICKIE JAMES out of the arena; she is literally kicking and screaming as she resists it, but it's to no avail as they throw her out of the arena! 4) ASHLEY MASSARO (accomp. by TRISH STRATUS) def. CANDICE MICHELLE (accomp. by TORRIE WILSON & VICTORIA) [02:23, 1/5] With Mickie James definitely ejected from the arena, Ashley could concentrate on the match up; and she took full advantage by beating Candice with a Diving Crossbody!Trish and Ashley exit the arena celebrating as Candice struggles to her feet, asking her friends Torrie and Victoria for help; Torrie, however, walks away, leaving Victoria in the ring with Candice! What does this mean for "Vince's Devils"? TODD GRISHAM was standing by with RIC FLAIR, as the 'Nature Boy' was asked by Grisham in 'what could be his last RAW interview ever' his thoughts on the upcoming contest. Flair snaps at Grisham, saying this is not his last RAW interview; he's been the man for 34 years, and he still will be after tonight! MR. McMAHON is skulking around backstage, but we hear through a crack in the door him telling someone to 'do the right thing'. Who is he talking to? MAIN EVENT - WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION GREGORY HELMS (accompanied by MR. McMAHON) def. RIC FLAIR [13:26, 3/5]TITLE MATCH!! A fantastic main event which spanned two parts, everyone behind the 'Nature Boy' as he battled for the title and his career. All was square in the match, until Gregory Helms flew off the top attempting a crossbody only to miss and catch the referee! McMahon got on the apron and distracted Flair long enough for Helms to grab his WWE Intercontinental Championship; as he readied the weapon, SHAWN MICHAELS began to bound down to the ring to assist Flair but as he was half way down the ramp TRIPLE H chased him down and smashed a sledgehammer into his back!! Flair was stunned by what he had seen, and was distracted just enough to be unaware of Helms having the weapon ready. Helms whacked the title into Flair's face and pinned the 'Naitch', ending his WWE career and retaining the gold!Helms and McMahon quickly exit, McMahon grinning ear to ear as he looks down at Shawn Michaels who is motionless on the stage but for a hand on his back. They head up the ramp as Triple H smirks; The Game has made it perfectly clear just who he is backing, and it's not Shawn Michaels! Meanwhile in the ring, Ric Flair has got to his feet. He soaks up the applause of the Atlanta fans; a fitting end to his WWE career in the city where he spent many magical nights in the prime of his career. A few tears fill up the eyes of Flair as this memorable edition of Monday Night RAW ends. WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT 2006

WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN (339) February 10, 2006 - COLUMBUS, GA
MICHAEL COLE and TAZZ welcome the WWE Fans to another edition of Smackdown - where we'll see JBL call out 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, and Chris Benoit battle Finlay in the 'Road To Wrestlemania' Tournament. Now, the World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton has something to say!
RANDY ORTON makes his way out as another edition of Smackdown begins, and the World Heavyweight Champion does not look happy. He says that the main event set for No Way Out is 'disgusting' - a World Heavyweight Champion should not be subjected to such blatant disrespect! He says everyone is jealous of him - he's 26, a two time World Heavyweight Champion in the prime of his career, he has the world at his feet - and everyone is just jealous of him and what he's achieving! He says he DEMANDS respect from the Smackdown locker room and the WWE fans - he is the World Heavyweight Champion, he is the best this brand has to offer. He holds up his title and tells the locker room to 'get a look at greatness' - in four years in the WWE he has achieved more than most men could manage in a lifetime. He's defeated legend after legend, won two World Championships despite not yet being 30 and STILL he is placed in positions like he is being placed in at No Way Out; what kind of General Manager thinks it's a good idea to have his champion in a Triple Threat Match 42 days before he main events Wrestlemania? Then, THEODORE LONG makes his way out! The Smackdown General Manager tells Randy Orton that he may be a top 'playa' in status on this brand, but he isn't respected by the boys in the back or the WWE fans - respect has to be earned and he simply hasn't earned it! He says, however, Orton has the chance to earn some respect tonight, when he goes one on one with THE UNDERTAKER!! The crowd cheers as Theodore Long does his little shuffle on the stage, Randy Orton fuming at yet more 'disrespect'.
1) CHRIS BENOIT def. FINLAY via disqualification to advance in the 'ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA' TOURNAMENT[10:13, 3/5] A great contest to open up Smackdown! Benoit fought tooth and nail to advance into the next round at No Way Out, but in the end Finlay made the job relatively easy for him; the 'Man Who Loves To Fight' lost patience with the resilient Benoit, and smashed him in the skull with the shillelagh.
Finlay wasn't done there, however, as he continued his attack on Benoit; the Irishman laid into Benoit by nailing him with some heavy blows to the ribs of Benoit with the shillelagh; Benoit writhed in agony as Finlay walked away, seemingly pleased with his handiwork; a truly Machiavellian individual is the 'Belfast Bruiser'. How much damage has been done to the 'Rabid Wolverine', just 9 days away from No Way Out?!
MNM are interviewed now by KRISTAL; Kristal asks MNM how they feel about having to face each other in the 'Road To Wrestlemania' tournament next week live on Smackdown; before either has the chance to respond, however, MELINA pie-faces Kristal with her hand, and tells her "dumb bitches asking dumb questions don't deserve answers!". Then, BOBBY LASHLEY arrives on the scene, helping Kristal up - he offers to take her for a cup of coffee and she accepts!
2) PAUL LONDON, BRIAN KENDRICK AND SUPER CRAZY (accompanied by PSICOSIS) def. JAMIE NOBLE, NUNZIO and VITO [03:58, 2/5] A great little preview of what is to come at No Way Out, a Cruiserweight Open for the now vacant WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Vito looked out of place, and took the fall after a Sliced Bread #2 from Kendrick, followed up by a Shooting Star Press and Moonsault from London and Crazy respectively.
London and Kendrick celebrated with Crazy and Psicosis and looked over at the vacant title, which sat beside the ring. Then, THE STONE TWINS and SIMON DEAN made their way out to the ring; Simon Dean on his Dean Machine with a microphone in hand, announcing his intention to enter the open and win his first WWE gold!
JOSH MATTHEWS arrives at the Trainer's Room to ask a WWE DOCTOR about the condition of CHRIS BENOIT following Finlay's attack. The doctor says they haven't had an x-ray back just yet, but an initial examination suggests Benoit suffered broken ribs in the attack! How will this affect the 'Rabid Wolverine' in his quest to return to the top of the mountain?
JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD and JILLIAN HALL make their way out to the ring, the 'Wrestling God' and his personal assistant (who is still wearing the protective face mask). JBL says last week, he told somebody to be a man and face him face to face in this ring tonight - and that man is 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper! He says he knows Piper hasn't got the balls to come out and face him, and he doesn't expect he's even in Orlando - he's probably at home in Glasgow, stuffing his face with haggis! He offers Piper the chance to make his way out, but no reaction on stage. JBL offers Piper another chance, imploring him to face him, but still no reaction. JBL says that Piper is a 'washed up waste of space', and finally, we get a reaction - and 'ROWDY' RODDY PIPER emerges from the back! The 'Rowdy One' is ready to go, and makes his way down to the ring, but as he gets close MARK HENRY charges into him and takes him down! The 'Silverback' rolls Piper into the ring, and extends a hand to JBL - the 'Wrestling God' paying Henry handsomely for his help! Henry heads to the back, and JBL soaks up the moment - revelling in the chance to finish a legend! As JBL gets Piper in place for the Clothesline From Hell, the theme of THE BOOGEYMAN hits, and distracts JBL - but the 'Brawler from the Bottomless Pit' was nowhere to be seen! JBL looked around, searching under the ring, but he was nowhere to be seen; the momentary distraction giving Roddy Piper enough time to make an escape! Piper escaped relatively unscathed, but where is the Boogeyman?!
A "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME" video now plays.
3) REY MYSTERIO def. WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPION BOOKER T (accompanied by SHARMELL) via pinfall [08:49, 3/5] An excellent back and forth battle in the middle of Smackdown, as Rey Mysterio looked to build momentum before his 'Road to Wrestlemania' Tournament battle with JBL next week; he won after Booker T, distracted by the theme of GOLDUST playing and his former tag team partner entering the arena, was rolled up by the WWE's 'Masked Marvel'.
Mysterio celebrated the victory, making a quick exit, passing the 'Bizarre One' on the ramp; Goldust had a microphone - he says that all that all that glitters is gold, and Goldust has d-d-d-d-desires for g-g-g-g-gold and he wants Booker's crown jewels! Typical humour from the returning Superstar as he takes an interest in the WWE United States Championship!
In the back, we see PALMER CANNON standing alongside WILLIAM REGAL. The two are waiting for the arrival of Regal's tag team partner, Paul Burchill. Then, the 'Buccaneer' arrives, decked out in pirate gear with ornate jewels and a flowing robes and a filthy looking bandana. Regal shakes his head, telling his partner that he looks 'bloody ridiculous', and it doesn't get any better - Cannon breaks the news that they BOTH will make their pirate debut next week on Smackdown!
Meanwhile, we see THEODORE LONG on the phone with a Superstar; he tells this him he's glad he's 'coming home' to Smackdown - but who is he talking to?
4) WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS MNM def. COLIN & JIMMY OLSEN via pinfall [01:36, 1/5] MNM quickly despatched the young pair of wannabe WWE Superstars, nailing the smaller of the two, Colin, with the Snapshot.
MNM celebrated the victory but there seemed to be some tensions between the WWE Tag Team Champions ahead of their 'Road to Wrestlemania' Tournament clash next week!
BOBBY LASHLEY is seated with KRISTAL in the locker room, the diva drinking a coffee whilst Lashley holds an ice pack on the back of her head. Lashley says he hopes she's okay after what Melina did - Kristal replies that she is now that Lashley is here. Then she tries to take the ice pack from Lashley but he holds her hand, and moves in for a kiss! A budding romance on Smackdown between him and Kristal?
In the back, FUNAKI, back from injury after an attack a month ago, introduced himself as Smackdown's 'Number One Announcer' and introduced his guest at this time; REY MYSTERIO! He asked Mysterio how he feels to be one step closer to the main event of Wrestlemania 22. Mysterio says last year, he opened the show with Eddie Guerrero, and when they came through the curtain Eddie told Rey he was good enough to be World Champion, to main event Wrestlemania, and he's determined to prove his late friend right and win this tournament and title in his honour!
RANDY ORTON is walking down a hallway, the World Heavyweight Champion is in action in the main event next!
MAIN EVENT - THE UNDERTAKER def. WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION RANDY ORTON via countout [12:54, 3/5] Orton gave it a good go against possibly his greatest rival, The Undertaker, but in the end the World Heavyweight Champion ran out of patience in this non-title contest; as he looked in trouble and was locked in the Tombstone Piledriver, the 'Legend Killer' managed to wriggle out and rolled out of the ring, choosing to take a count out loss and keep himself fresh!
Orton looks happy to have got out of the dodge, but he doesn't count on KURT ANGLE rushing him from behind and bundling him straight back into the ring; Orton is thrown straight into the path of 'The Phenom', who's hand is waiting outstretched, grips the 'Legend Killer' by the throat and chokeslams him into the mat! The World Heavyweight Champion is laid out, and Angle steps into the ring to stare down his fellow contender; will we see a new champion in nine days in Baltimore?!
The show closes with JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD and JILLIAN HALL in the parking lot. JBL opens the door of his limosuine and lets Jillian in when his mobile phone rings and he takes the call, telling Jillian he'll be a minute. However, we hear an ear piercing scream and a familiar manic laugh as the car pulls away at high speed! We cut to a camera in the car; THE BOOGEYMAN was waiting in the back and has hijacked JBL's limo and kidnapped Jillian! A shocking moment to close Smackdown.

Randy Orton demanding respect and complaining was a good way to open and tonight's main event sounds huge. The Road to WrestleMania Tournament is a really good idea and I'm happy to see Chris Benoit advance. Interesting to have Finlay continue to attack him. Johnny Nitro vs. Joey Mercury next week should be fun. Bobby Lashley trying to get in on Teddy Long's future fiance? Decent six man to highlight the Cruiserweights before the Open at No Way Out. Stone Twins? I did think Simon Dean was pretty funny though. Broken ribs? Oh no Benoit. Good segment to further the Boogeyman/JBL angle. I like the inclusion of people like Roddy Piper and Mark Henry to make it interesting. Rey Mysterio beating the United States Champion is something I would usually not be a big fan of, but the return of Goldust and his history with Booker T makes for an interesting angle. Pirate Paul Burchill was a character that I didn't hate. MNM winning the squash was fine. The budding romance is okay, but I hope it leads to something storyline wise. Figured the main event would end in a DQ or countout to protect both guys. I look forward to the Triple Threat match at No Way Out and the Jillian being kidnapped was a nice twist on the JBL/Boogeyman story. Another interesting episode.

WWE Monday Night RAW: Monday 30th January 2006...Good work on the layout here, it's all very fluid. I don't think that you should have star ratings for television shows though, as matches on television are very time-formatted and angle-based, which both effect the quality of matches. Additionally you could use the match rating setup for when there is a big main event to further add to the prestige of the program. Onto the show, a decent opening segment with Mr McMahon in the ring with...Gregory Helms? That's a strange combination, but nevertheless. A decent segment with Shawn Michaels, and we have the stipulation that Ric Flair would be pegged with some year and a half later. It makes a lot of Michaels' upcoming matches predictable with WrestleMania 22 coming up at the beginning of April, so I'm slightly skeptical of the angle. I think something else could have been done with it. It's strange to see you not go with Kurt Angle being drafted over to SmackDown! after Batista's injury. More on that later...Hmm, I'm not sure about Rosey facing Rob Van Dam in the opening contest. I think a slightly bigger match could have been used, but nevermind. The match may have gone a minute or two too long, as I understand you're trying to repackage Rosey, but this effort makes RVD with his momentum appear weak. I hope you can find something for Van Dam to truly sink his teeth into. Good call with Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch reuniting, as RAW desperately needs more tag teams - particularly face tag teams. I see that you're jumpstarting the feud between the Big Show and Kane & Carlito and Chris Masters - let's see how you handle this one. I would like to see more mystique to Tyson Tomko and Gene Snitsky's team - I always enjoyed that pairing, honestly. I hope that Carlito and Masters can win the World Tag Team Championships, as a side note. I guess that a four-way tag team match is on the horizon. Some slow build for Torrie Wilson and Candice Michelle's imminent feud. I'm just curious how Victoria will do with this situation, or what she will do in general whilst her fellow Angels feud. Trish Stratus' promo with Mickie James was pretty decent, and I like how it turned out. The question now is how you plan on stretching this situation out across the next two months. Man, WrestleMania 22 is a long way away for the RAW brand. I don't like that Ric Flair wasn't here on RAW tonight, in the year 2006 most of the roster should be around really. Stars like the Undertaker having advertisements for their return makes sense because of the mystique factor. Shelton Benjamin with a win against Antonio of the Heart Throbs makes sense - but isn't Benjamin a heel as well as Antonio? Strange pairing, I would have had someone else take on Shelton, honestly.A decent main event with Triple H defeating Kurt Angle, but nothing new really. I'm curious what the direction is here. The alliance with Angle and Daivari always baffled me, I just didn't understand it. Is Triple H now a face? I think I'm missing something here. Uhm, very strange final segment with the 2006 Royal Rumble winner and SmackDown! brand World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton appearing - I'm not sure why, there could have been some background behind this. A nice showdown with John Cena opposing him, for sure. Very strange segment, and I found Orton's involvement completely pointless. Edge planning to cash in for WrestleMania 22 sets up RAW's main event for the biggest show of the year - but again, how do you plan to pace this rivalry? I look forward to how you do it. Overall, you have a lot to work on with the RAW roster I feel. Lots of moving parts, with no proper substance. I would have added one more match to RAW, as even though it was a promo-heavy show back in 2006, it still seemed incredibly short for a one-hour-and-forty-minute episode. Your undercard could use with some definition, additionally. More dimension would aid you greatly. There just doesn't seem to be too much special going on apart from the top stars appearing and rotating.
WWE Friday Night SmackDown!: Friday 3rd February 2006...It's sad to see you let go of Heidenreich and Kid Kash, as they have been mildly important to the SmackDown! brand for the past several months. Theodore Long discussing the Royal Rumble to kick off the show made most sense, as the situation at the Royal Rumble was very confusing. Alright, so we have the Road to WrestleMania tournament taking place on SmackDown! instead - I like that. It's quite a strange line-up for the tournament though, particularly Joey Mercury, the Boogeyman and Johnny Nitro's involvement. Of all of the talents you have on SmackDown! these are contenders to the World Heavyweight Championship? A bit of a strange one, but I see this coming down to Chris Benoit or Rey Mysterio going on to face Randy Orton. Where has Booker T gone? Strange that he was ommitted from this...unless it's to do with his injury he suffered around this time? Mark Henry beating the Boogeyman was best, never could you imagine Boogeyman on his way to WrestleMania. Six minutes of seeing these two fight would be horrendous to see, I'm not going to lie. Shame that John Bradshaw Layfield distracted the Boogeyman, but I guess JBL needs his heat back. Unfortunately this feud appears to be continuing. I just hope it has some interesting segments. Rey Mysterio and Bobby Lashley after the WWE Tag Team Championships? No complaints with this decision. Nice to see Gymini get repackaged, I was always disappointed at how short lived their run on SmackDown! was. An obvious win against Paul London and Brian Kendrick, who I hope get built up progressively in the year 2006. Booker T and Matt Hardy made for a good match, Booker with the momentum as WWE United States Champion building up. I wish this match would have gone on longer. Hardy's another "top" star on SmackDown! ommitted from the Road to WrestleMania tournament. Whilst I'm glad to see Goldust make a return, I can't help but feel that the Boogeyman will now be out of place - two oddball comedy characters coming in and all. There's just a bit of a collision here waiting to happen. John Bradshaw Layfield's promo was good, and the Boogeyman was always going to make his way out to get retribution on JBL. A nice segment, but I'm still not too keen on this angle continuing. Finlay beating Orlando Jordan was expected, it's a shame that Jordan's character was ruined by losing to Chris Benoit so many times in such short time. Hah, Buccaneer Burchill? Amusing skit here, hopefully it leads to something with potential. And lastly, a solid rub for MNM defeating upcoming stars Bobby Lashley and Rey Mysterio. The loss may have hurt Mysterio's chances for winning the Road to WrestleMania tournament credibly, but it gave Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro a good shot in the main event retaining the WWE Tag Team Championships. I would have maybe positioned this in the first-hour main event. And finally, a great final segment with World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton ironing out his upcoming opposition. Palmer Cannon could be an excellent character here if he is used like this. Kurt Angle challenging Randy Orton at No Way Out should be interesting, but I'm not digging Daivari coming with him. Huh, the Undertaker's return, almost forgot about him. I guess that we will be seeing a triple threat match at No Way Out. Overall, a decent edition of SmackDown!. SmackDown! is the better brand right now, and there is a lot of strange twists and turns on the road to WrestleMania 22 - but there is a lot of character development to tend to, I believe. I'm looking forward to seeing what you produce in the coming weeks.

WWE-EK NEWSLETTER - WEEK ENDING 12/2
Despite backlash from the Internet Wrestling Community, the WWE remains behind THE BOOGEYMAN. Despite the man behind the paint, Marty Wright, being no spring chicken at age 42, he has staunch support from MR. McMAHON, who feels that his pure dedication to the character and his work ethic in constantly trying to better himself in the ring justifies the push he is receiving. We are even hearing reports that Marty would love to take the character's eerie eating habits further by eating maggots, cockroaches and other creepy crawlies; and it is only that most arenas health and safety policies would be violated by the risk of infestation that the WWE haven't taken this route. It was also Wright's idea to play the character as a face; despite his villainous tendencies suggesting the character would be better suited as a heel.
The comeback of GOLDUST was reportedly the idea of DUSTY RHODES, who has been working as a creative consultant since late last year. The father and son had fallen out massively during the 1990s, but the feud has apparently been put to the bed, and Dusty used his position as consultant to extend an olive branch to his son. Officials are also keen to sign Dusty's other son, CODY RHODES, to a professional contract, and perhaps this is another reason for his re-signing and push. At only 21, they feel he could be 'the next Randy Orton - without all the problems that come with him', and as a keen (and successful) high school wrestler, they feel he could pick up the ring work quick enough to debut by 2007.
RANDY ORTON reportedly has been placed on a suspended suspension for violating WWE's policy on classified substances; he was seen smoking marijuana by a fellow Superstar, named by my source as SIMON DEAN, and MR. McMAHON came down heavy on his World Champ, warning him one more foot out of line and he'll be suspended INDEFINTELY!
RIC FLAIR was quietly put on leave today to deal with his mounting personal issues; the 'Nature Boy' has yet another wedding coming up, as well as court dates in the coming month, and requested personal time from MR. McMAHON, who was keen to grant it as he is not keen on Ric Flair at the moment. He has laughed down any suggestions Flair has had in recent months; from winning a 17th World Championship, to facing Ricky Steamboat at Wrestlemania, and Flair's morale is at an all time low as a result.
Discussions are on going in regards to the return of the MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH. The match was deemed a huge success and has the potential to be a 'staple' of Wrestlemania. RAW writers are currently working on what stars to place in the match, and who to pull the trigger on - with the rumoured favourites to be CHRIS MASTERS, ROB VAN DAM, and SHELTON BENJAMIN, who creative feel has been reinvigorated by the addition of MRS. B and a face turn. MASTERS and VAN DAM are less likely as both lack the support of TRIPLE H, who detests both men as he feels they are both 'unsafe' workers.
One Superstar it won't be, however, is CARLITO; officials are sick and tired of pushing him only to hear complaints and he generally has a negative attitude towards most of the creative team that doesn't stand him in good stead.
TNA officials have 'tapped up' CHRIS BENOIT regarding a jump to their company when his current contract expires in October; the 'Rabid Wolverine' signed a one year extension last October, and TNA are already planning for the future, keen on a marquee signing to mark a year of 'iMPACT!'. THE BIG SHOW has recieved a similar approach but declined.
The WWE is high on LANCE CADE and are looking to push him as a top babyface in the coming year; expect him to turn and feud with partner TREVOR MURDOCH on the way to a push.
TRIPLE H's reunion with SHAWN MICHAELS is set to happen; it is expected that he will regret his actions and rejoin his partner as D-GENERATION X in the build to Wrestlemania.
The following superstars are thought to be in line for call ups from OVW and DSW; Elijah Burke, Johnny Jeter, Ken Doane, Mike Knox and Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin. There is rumblings that WWE wants to put together a five man stable of rookies, but whether these five will feature is unsure. We are also hearing that re-signed talent Eddie Fatu will re-debut following Wrestlemania in a feud with his former partner, Rosey. In other re-signing news, Andrew Martin, better known as Test, has returned to the company and will spend two months in developmental before a television return.
HARDCORE HOLLY's career is in jeopardy after the tough veteran reportedly contracted MRSA whilst hospitalised with an arm injury; more on that as it comes.
Finally, we are hearing rumours that the WWE has reached an agreement with NBCUniversal to air a new weekly program for one hour on a channel of their choosing. Additionally, we are hearing that the WWE could be ready to resurrect a former favourite - SATURDAY NIGHT's MAIN EVENT.
