I don't really remember although I too didn't understand that Hardy's/MNM match being there.
Holly taking Sabus spot even though I liked Holly on ECW.
Lastly, Heyman wanted Punk to go over or have an extremely strong showing if I remember correctly. Basically it could have been great but Vince clearly didn't want Heyman making the decisions.

Lack of build, more than anything. The entire card was just thrown together poorly, when they could have spent six months building stuff up so that they had a few matches that meant a lot by then. Was there any other one time PPV's? Yup. Tuesday in Texas... Breaking Point... Not counting UK one offs; The Wrestling Classic The Big Event This Tuesday in Texas Pretty much every In Your House had a "one off" sub name Breakdown St. Valentine's Day Massacre Invasion The Bash Fatal 4-Way Capitol Punishment

Yeah, he planned to have Big Show and Punk start out the match, and with in 5 minutes Punk would have made Big Show tap. It would have had a big shock value, been a big boost to Punk, and gotten the fans pumped through the rest of the match for the title to change hands. Everyone loved it, including Big Show, with the exception of one person: Vince. He wanted the belt put on Lashley, and Heyman told him several times, it would fall flat, which Vince would hear none of.

Even Big Show was a better representation of ECW.

I'm not a Punk fan, but Heyman's plan of having him make Big Show tap early doors would've given the match so much more interest. Honestly I would've had that happen, then Punk lose in the final two to a heel (I honestly forget the heels in the match other than Show) and then have him chase the title going into WM23. Lashley didn't need the belt for his match with Umaga. I know Punk won the MITB that year, but this would've given him an equal if not bigger boost.

basically fans were conned.
1)It was a bad show ruined by interference from Stephanie & Vince.
2)when it failed? She used it to propel her hatred of Heyman skyward towards convincing Vince he was a hack.
That's the story of the night.....

I was there, had 4th row seats or so, and it was terrible to me.
Regardless, I heard about the show, I loved ECW as a kid, thought it would be cool to go to. I thought it would be Extreme or something near that. I always liked the Chamber too.
I was pissed that Sabu was replaced especially for Holly. The Crowd loved Punk, I had no idea who he was. At one point someone yells at Big Show that this sucks and he nodded in agreement. I went there knowing about the Chamber match and nothing else. I was just wanting to get home, so I could sleep and go to work come morning.
What I most remember is a guy yelling "nothing says extreme like ramming a guys head into the turnbuckle".
*** I admittedly never watched ECW at this time and watched little wrestling period around this time. I rarely watch Raw during football season anyway. I loved wrestling from about 87 to 2001 or so, but have always followed online and watch occasionally (Rumble through Mania)

it didn't have any big names to help it get buyers really
the biggest name on the show was The Hardy Boyz, and ECW's biggest Sabu was replaced on the night for someone who I only remember doing in WWECW was landing on a table weird

Was Sandman on the show? I noticed on wikipedia it showed Sandman on the poster but not on the match card. I've never seen this before is why I'm asking.

One of the worst things I've ever seen in wrestling. No redeeming qualities and a total slap in the face to ANYONE that supported ECW, WWE or just wrestling in general.

Not until 2008. Wierd choice, he floundered there. Heyman knew how to book him on ECW, on Raw? I have no idea what the logic was...
