Im probably going to get bashed to hell for this and catch a lot of flack but I never was overly impressed with Hennig in WCW or WWF. I thought he had some decent matches in WWF but for the majority of them I think he is way overrated sometimes. It might just be the fact that I grew up with him being in WCW and backtracked watching his matches in WWF over the past few years. The Flair/Hennig match from World War III in 97 wasnt bad, probably my suggestion, but also for the majority Hennig was selling a knee injury and at times was slow.

There must have been something in the water in WCW because everyone who went there in the mid-late 90s performed far worse than they had in the WWF. In Hennigs case it was less "something in the water" and more "something in a bottle"......Beer, Somas, Painkillers and going back to wrestle when his back really wasn't up to it. That was a case with a lot of ex-WWF guys who entered WCW in the mid-90s. They were mostly 40-somethings with prematurely aged bodies from the grind and trauma of 15-20 years in the biz. Part of Mr. Perfect's appeal was that he was a bump machine in the WWF, and it's not shocking that his back couldn't keep that up forever.

Hennig should have told Russo to kiss his a** I'm not a cowboy.
The WW3 match with flair was decent. There was 706 chest slaps. I love Perfect's snap mare-summersault thing. Even at that stage of his career he executed it, well, perfectly. Both were winded in the last 3rd of the match. Finish was decent.

Yup most were well past their sell by date going to WCW.....basically trading on name/gimmick recognition.

he had a good feud with malenko that finished at fall brawl 98, and i've heard his match at malice at the palace 98 with flair was good as well. i personally liked his run in wcw, it obviously was hindered, but he still could go and did so under numerous occasions. his whole rebranding as the cowboy was russo being an idiot i believe. for the fact that his back was completely done, it's amazing what he did and how fast he could still move. he also put people over nonstop throughout his wcw run. Not trying to defend him, because it seems like it would fit, but the West Texas Rednecks was pre Russo thing and was actually a Bischoff thing. Russo came in in October of 99 and the Rednecks were around 6 months before that.
