I highly enjoyed it myself. Jason Clarke did well enough in a lead role which I wasn't expecting. The visual effects were insane. The story flowed nicely. And the ending nicely set up the next film.

I don't think it was quite as good as 'Rise' but it's head and shoulders above all the older movies...
Within the next decade, someone will be nominated for an Oscar, for a CG performance.
Caesar, and Koba, were some of the best acted characters in the film.
Definitely worth checking out -- but I'd wait for BD if I had the choice, again.

I haven't seen it yet, I really want to though. Maybe go next weekend. Does James Franco have a cameo in it?

I had a choice between the new Transformers and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I didn't want to see either, but my friend agreed he didn't want to see DOTPOTA as well, so that's the one we didn't see. Bleh.

There was also the deleted scene from Rise, Cesar found the camera and it's a video of Cesar learning words with James Franco.

I saw it last night, I absolutely loved Rise of the Planet of the Apes so went in with huge expectations.
It didn't disappoint. While I felt some parts of the movie were a little drawn out there is no doubt that this movie is am absolute cinematic masterpiece for the ages. Spectacular.

After watching all of the originals and Rise before going to see Dawn, I can easily say that Dawn is the best Apes film yet. One of the best films I've seen this year, recommend to anyone who is thinking about seeing it.

2 hours and 10 minutes and it just FLEW by.. I literally looked at my brother when it was over and said "no way".
I'm not ready to declare a winner between 'Rise' and 'Dawn'.. But they're currently tied until I get in my 2nd viewing. I was in absolute AW while watching 'Dawn'.. It exceeded my expectations and then some.
'Rise' was a surprise hit for me in 2011. I loved it. And I was terrified that the sequel to 'Rise' would suck once they lost Rupert Wyatt. But I was wrong.. I was wrong, wrong, man was I ever wrong. This movie was just on a whole 'nother level.. You could absolutely feel the presence of Caesar. Every single time he was on screen, you were engaged.
I'm willing to argue the brilliance of both movies with anyone.. These two movies hold a special place in my heart.

I really enjoyed it, though it took a bit of a difference approach/direction than I was expecting. I honestly think I preferred Rise overall, but that doesn't take anything away from this one.
It doesn't feel much like a sequel at all, though. It can very much stand on its own.

It was very good in my opinion, I much preferred it to 'Rise' although that was great too. Just action packed and it flew by.

It still gives me chills today.

Only part I didn't like was Gary Oldmans death. Wish his character got some more development and could have been in the next movie
