don't get me wrong. I love the product Mattel is putting out. But I'm getting very confused as to why the sets (mainly the basic series) are taking so damn long to come out retail!!
I thought each basic series was supposed to come out 1 per month. Technically B35 was mattels " first set of the year " even though we were finding it in November. But if we were to go by their calendar it would be
B35- Jan B36 - Feb B37- Mar B38 - April B39 - May B40 - June B41 - July B42 - August
And so on..
So that brings me to ask here in mid July .. Why have I not seen anyone past Basic 38 at retail? Aprils series. ? Shouldn't we be seeing B41 in full by now? Even maybe B42 starting to pop up in certain places? And For the record I still haven't seen BP28 anywhere either. And do I need to start on BAF Bearer?
Am I off here? Am I wrong? What's going on here?
Edit**
I'm strictly talking retail here

I'm just like
Elite 29 back order or nah? I'm so impatient :/ my store has Basic 36 and BP 27. It's quite ridiculous to see basic 36 still there as that set was pretty weak.

Never saw the basic bray/slater series, but I did see Summerslam heritage yesterday at TRU. And I've seen plenty of e28 and the latest battle packs with Usos and Wyatt's . I can't wait for e29 to hit, need Andre, Goldust, and Sandow to complete the set

Stores just aren't stocking stuff.
My Wal Mart is still stocked with B36 - it's been that way since about March.... before that the shelves were empty.
There are two other Wal Marts near me and they are the same.
My Target still has B37 - just put more out the other day.
K Mart? Don't even get me started... they're still working through stuff from last year.
It's been a terrible year for retail, at least in my area. Toys R Us is finally catching up, I saw Summerslam Heritage (minus Dibiase) there this past weekend.

Because stores don't get new product from their warehouses until they reach a certain number on hand. And then the warehouse will usually send them the older stock before they ship the newer product. F.I.F.O (First in...First out) Unless it is the holiday season where they'll ship it to their stores as soon as it comes in.
Mattel is still producing/shipping new series every month to the stores distribution centers.

One of my local Targets got a case of the Uso wave a week before my Grandmother passed. But the past week and a half they restocked with 2 or 3 cases of HHH/Axel and The Shield. Another Target has 2 pegs of those 2 sets and another case of them in the stockroom. And the third store has a few Punk vs Taker's along with the Shield with and Triple H/Axel.

Last Thursday I found B39 for the first time at retail(TRU)so I bought Gabriel. Ironically enough it was the first time I've found Curtis Axel so I got him too. They had a bunch of Wyatts, Usos, aj/big e packs as well and a ton of e28.
I think that was the best stocking of wrestling figures I've seen in years. Maybe ever.

I can relate, the only basics I've seen for months are the the bad half of 38 and oodles of Orton from 37 at Walmart/Target/etc., Walmart only seems to replenish BP 27 lately, and my local Targets will probably never overcome the crappy Bella-less revision cases of BP26 they're all jampacked witn. YMMV of course.
TRU did get SSH and BP 28 last week though, and some retailers are doing resets so I suppose they're just starving the shelves until they're ready.

I have seen B39 in stores. Have not seen B40 yet, but I'm usually the last to see things anyway. I think the problem is too many peg warmers. My Walmart is chock full of white-carded basics, and my Target was overloaded with B35-36.

I've never even seen b39 yet. But I'm fine waiting. My money is happy in it's home (my wallet)

Yeah, I'm tired of waiting on my confirmation email for E29 too. Definitely not "mid-July" anymore so hopefully we're not waiting until August. If I remember correctly E28 back orders apparently took forever too

What is going on this year? Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio figures have been warming shelves and Summerslam Heritage Million Dollar Man is the hottest figure of the year.

You're right about Sheamus and Del rio but I'm going to disagree with you on M$M. He's hot right now but so was Zeb when his figure was released. And the BAF Axel is up there somewhere in the race for hottest figure. Besides as soon as DM 80s Hogan hits retail we all know he will be the hottest figure of the year.

Too many stupid sets beginning with the BOPPV basics clogging at TRU as well as those TLC figures. Now to the local K-mart clogged with Survivor series, champions, Scooby Dumb, and basic 31 still. Now to the targets. Conspicuously empty in basic singles. A million elite 28, as well as elite 25 Sheamus and 26 Mark Henry. Millions of triple H and Axel sets every f'ing where. Then Walmart has a garbizillion-dillion Superstar entrance Cena and WM XXX basics.
The answer is clear. The junk filler sets have taken precious real estate from basics. So long as the price point is the same, what do these stores care if they've got basic 40 or best of 2013?

Basic distribution has been wacky this year. Smyths is pretty much the standard for regular, reliable WWE Mattel retail, and even there the basics have been odd. Basic 37 and 38 came out on the same day, then nothing for months, then basic 39 came out, then both elite 28 and 29 come out before basic 40. Similar thing happened last year when Elite 23 and 24 came out super fast, so they came out between two basic sets.
