I was watching Survivor Series 99 on the WWE Network and started thinking about all the matches that either were supposed to happen or rumored to happne over the years and Im curious to see if anyone out there has any gems that either I or people on here may not have heard rumored.
A few that come to mind
HHH vs. Rock vs. Austin @ Survivor Series 1999
Obviously Austin needed to have neck surgery and thus they went with the car running over Austin angle, but Im curious if anyone knows how far in advance WWE knew Austin couldnt wrestle before the PPV. It would seem silly to announce him as a participant than pull him last second like that.
Randy Orton vs. Undertaker - Buried Alive Match @ Survivor Series 2005
Due to Eddie's death they decided to put Orton on Team Smackdown and save Taker's return for the actual PPV itself.
Randy Orton vs. John Cena - Hell In A Cell @ Cyber Sunday 2007
I recall it being rumored that following No Mercy, Cena would be chasing Orton for the title and this match would be one of the options (obviously trying to sway the audience vote that way) for fan voting. As we all know Cena got injured before No Mercy, jumpstarted HBK's return to Raw the next night and Taker/Batista went on to wrestle Hell In A Cell at Survivor Series.
HBK vs. Bret @ Wrestlemania 13
This was the heavily rumored main event for Mania 13, obviously Shawn got questionably hurt, forfeited the title and Bret went on to wrestle Austin.
Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan @ Wrestlemania 8
This one was a little before my time as a fan but I recall people on here saying it was because they didnt want Flair to lose to Hogan who was leaving after Wrestlemania, but also wanted Hogan in the main event.
HBK vs. Eddie @ Wrestlemania 22
Obviously scrapped due to Eddie's untimely death. HBK went on to wrestle McMahon instead.
HBK vs. King Booker @ Wrestlemania 23
Was scheduled to happen until Triple H got injured and HBK got put into the main event of Mania 23. Booker went on to compete in MITB.
Hogan vs. HBK II @ Unforgiven 2005
I remember the rumor at the time was Hogan was supposed to return the favor to HBK at Unforgiven but he backed out after Summerslam and HBK went on to wrestle Chris Masters.
Anyone have any other good rumored matches that never took place?

Wow that site is pretty cool, good find, didn't know HBK was supposed to face Bret at KOTR in 97, I guess it makes sense given the Raw's that were leading up to it. Didn't mention Benoit for obvious reasons.

The Hardy Boyz vs Beer Money at BFG 2011 was the 'original plan'...

For some reason, I recall a comment being made that (before WCW went out) that they had plans to turn Hulk Hogan face against NWO and then have him face Scott Hall.
Another one is Benoit/CM Punk. I honestly think they could've put on a good show.

Orton vs Edge at WM 23? Or was that too early for them to feud? I definitely heard that was a possibility. Would have made more sense than to put them in the MITB.

Didn't mention Benoit for obvious reasons. Yeah there was supposed to be a stipulation where Bret guaranteed to beat HBK in 10 minutes or less. The real reason for this was because Bret had a legit knee injury which actually led to him pulling out of the match.

About 5 or 6 of those matches on that website did in fact happen though! So I am not sure why the person felt they never did take place.

About 5 or 6 of those matches on that website did in fact happen though! So I am not sure why the person felt they never did take place. Some of the participants changed. For instance, one graphic shows the Six Pack Challenge with Vince McMahon instead of Bulldog and the Alliance vs. Team WWF Survivor Series match also shows Vince competing for Team WWF.

Starrcade 1993 - WCW World Champion Big Van Vader vs Sid Vicious.
they were on the road to this match, first teaming them together as the "Masters of the Power Bomb", then teasing cracks in the team later, eventually leading to this match. but then Sid met Arn Anderson in a hotel room, and scissors appeared, and that was the end of it.

The real reason for this was because Bret had a legit knee injury which actually led to him pulling out of the match. That makes sense, I remember the Bret in a wheelchair angle. Kinda crazy how HBK and Bret danced around each other for the majority of 1997. Orton vs Edge at WM 23? Or was that too early for them to feud? I definitely heard that was a possibility. Would have made more sense than to put them in the MITB. No I remember this being a heavily rumored match at the time as well. I was very upset when they were thrown into MITB instead of getting a one on one match at Mania that could have stole the show next to HBK/Cena. There was no point in them being in MITB, when clearly neither had a great chance of winning it.

Anyone remember around the time of the build up to WrestleMania 29, there was suppose to be a Intercontinental Championship Cup on Main Event that got cancelled? Stone Cold and Brock Lesnar got cancelled in 2002 and, Big E was suppose to face Curtis Axel on one edition of Main Event. And there's these

Stone Cold and Brock Lesnar got cancelled in 2002 and, Big E was suppose to face Curtis Axel on one edition of Main Event. And there's these I thought I heard that Edge & Christian were gonna get a Tag Title run in 2011 too. Is there any truth to that?? Or was it just a speculated hopeful rumor that started because they had a shot at the Tag Champions??

On Austin's podcast with Dreamer, Dreamer said that they basically had Abyss signed for a match against Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Forgot which Mania though. I believe 22.
