Well... I didn't say nor think that. I was just stating with the way technology is nowadays, do you think that figures will go up in price in the future. If that's not what you're implying, then how would this technology raise the prices? The only way the price increases on anything is if it becomes harder to get, such as gas prices rising because we're at war with an OPEC nation. I don't see how an influx of 3d printers would make it harder to get Mattels or any other action figure. Your implication as I understood it was that it would be EASIER to get the figs, not harder, because you could print them yourself. Which is why I said, "I think you'd be surprised . . . " Therefore, I don't see any connection between an increase in 3D printing and an increase in the cost of action figs. Yeah I can see where you would see that. I'm just wondering if in the future could customizers eventually "corner" the market. Take the Elite Billy Gunn for example... his boots are all wrong. Now say Mattel releases something like that and a customizer comes along and makes a better mold via his computer. And let's just say he decides to sell his mold to tremendous success and then starts creating other molds to even more success and then other customizers follow suit. Can there be a possibility of a future where you or myself would rather buy something from John Doe Jersey for half the price than rather something from Mattel because John Doe makes better molds. I know this thread is a bit confusing. But is it wrong to worry that 3D printing could eventually cause figures to become more expensive? I'm not saying it'll happen today or tomorrow or even 5 years from now. But it could happen. I'm just wondering if it would happen. I appreciate your feedback, man. I appreciate everyone's feedback and difference of opinion. It helps me see what other ppl are thinking. I don't write sad poems to kittens everytime my opinion differs from anyone else's. Its welcomed IMO.

That's why it's illegal to have a monopoly. If you're the only store in town that sells milk, then that means you can charge whatever you want for it. If some farmer comes along and sells better milk than your store, how would that do ANYthing but force you to lower your price to compete? If your response, as the only store that sells milk, is to raise your price. You'll be out of business in a week.

I think you'd be surprised just how crappy a job a 3D printer would do for an action figure. Maybe if you wanted to print old WCW galoob style figures it would work, but however Mattel casts their plastic and then assembles it (and paints it) is a very special process designed specifically for making toys. If you think 3D printers can do anything and everything as good as multi-million dollar companies who specialize? Well . . . This is already possible as we speak. Crappy? I don't think so!
