The only way he could have any real character in the WWE is if he's a REAL heel. Pun intended. His time in New Japan as a face was terribly boring and he was just a generic Gaijin over there. He needs to be able to showcase his character of "Real Rock N Rolla" like he has for the end of his time in New Japan.
Now with all that said, I'm super excited for him to be debuting on NXT. He is one of the best Super Junior wrestlers in the world and I think if built up well could be a serious threat on the main roster. Great signings from WWE recently. To those claiming he wouldn't know the "American style" of wrestling because of his time in Japan, I would disagree because the people in Japan which he largely faced were either wrestling a Super Junior like style or American style with guys like Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi and more. The Japanese style is no longer completely different to the American style as they're slowly becoming closer in Japan. In conclusion, happy Devitt's signed. That is all.

Great news......I'm excited & nervous for him.
Excited that he has made it to the big time......
Nervous that WWE will saddle him with some god awful gimmick or restrain his moveset to the point he doesn't stand out.
I wonder how they will intro him? my friend Rob has a bet on in our local bookie that he will be Sheamus "lil buddy".....I hope he isn't right.

Having him being introduced as 'Sheamus lil buddy' might not be a bad thing at all to be honest. It will give Sheamus a chance to turn Heel on him, which will instantly give him a great rub as a babyface and make him instantly relevant. There's already so many guys coming through from NXT who week in week out have to have quick, irrelevant singles matches just to gradually ease them in.

I think if anything Devitt should just start out bashing Sheamus and they feud. Good way to establish credibility from the start and 100 times better than squash matches.

I've never watched him, but he is one of those Indy names that always pop up, so I'm sure he will be great. I look forward to seeing him debut.
I'm going to try to watch a few of his matches on youtube. Any recommendations?

Don't know who he is.
Don't care either.
Wish him luck anyway.
Probably be awhile before I ever see him wrestle because I don't watch developmental.

Development Live Specials have been better than most WWE Pay-Per-Views this year. And I've enjoyed WWE Pay-Per-Views this year.

Minus nxt And I'm okay with that
