I've been thinking of getting the new ASR after seeing a few shots of it here and there but I can't decide. I currently own the Jakks Real Scale Blue Cage Ring and so that's why I've never thought of picking up another but I have the money and really want to create an Attitude Era styled arena..I think Jakks rings look a little more old school especially in pictures due to the materials used as opposed to the more modern looking turnbuckles and skirts on the ASR but I've never owned a Mattel ring so I can't say for sure. So should I just fix up my RSR with new skirts and ropes or go ahead and get the ASR and fix that one up? Hopefully someone who owns both can give me some insight on which they prefer and why. Thanks!

A friend got one and from what I saw the quality is poor compared to the Jakks one.
The posts aren't metal and the ring mat can get messed up easily and his Raw skirts snapped.

Pretty sure you can get a new "Jakks" one, somewhere else for about the same price as the ASR. Cheaper even. So if you're looking for one that fits the cage, that's your best bet.
I like both rings. My Mattel ESR is one of my more favorites though. Even though the rubber turnbuckles are a bit hokey, there's some uniformity there that helps.

The main advantages of the Mattel ring over the Jakks one are that the turnbuckles are much better than the giant foam pillow things on the Jakks ones... And the top rope is higher. The Jakks top rope was barely above crotch level for some reason. Apart from that, I don't think there's much between them (I haven't paid much attention to ringposts bending in, though).

Not at that price. I will gladly wait 6 months to buy it at Big Lots for 30, just like the last one that actually cost LESS at retail.

Yeah the turnbuckles do look ridiculous on the RSR so I looked at just getting Mattel ones to put on my Jakks ring but it would cost around $40 for a complete set so I figured it wasn't worth it and might as well buy the entire ring to switch back and forth with if necessary. Leaning towards getting the ASR..I really do love the darker blue mat.

If it was 40$ I would absolutely get it. But, 80$ is a lot so, idk yet.
I'd probably get it though, it looks pretty good

The one and only thing Jakks did better than Mattel is their ring.
And the price is more reasonable. $59.99 vs $79.99.

In my opinion, it is definitely worth getting. The ring looks fantastic when set up. The only real problems I faced with the new ring is that I was missing one of the turnbuckles (got one from the ESR, not problem with everyone), the ropes were a bit loose (easy cut and fix) and that the ringmat wasn't long enough on one side, which I fixed by cutting off the shorter one at the seam. It's the best looking ring I've ever seen/owned and I think it would be worth the $80. Leaning towards getting the ASR..I really do love the darker blue mat. The darker blue mat is one of the best features of the new ASR. The whole get up looks fantastic together.
