Ive collected many figure lines for years. But wrestling lines have always made me nervous. So many to choose from! Ive lurked these boards for about a year and decided to ween my collection to just TMNT and to start my WWE figure collection. I'm excited, nervous, and anxious all at once. I've considered many things. MOC? Loose? Jakks? Mattel? And decided to go with a mix of loose and more expensive MOC Mattel. Now... it was just pay day and I have an empty detolf in my game room... and im wondering where to start?
I think, with the news of a soon to be released x-pac, to start with my childhood favourites and build the DX faction as my first center peice.
Heres the catch. I dont have yhe money to collect every figure with a slight variation in face sculpt or attire. Im going to initially be looking for one of each wrestler. Then branch out to different eras of same wrestler. So I would like suggestions from you on the best looking figures that I should consider picking up.
HHH, HBK, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, Chyna, and im sure the new x-pac will win here. Thoughts?

I too am new to collecting so based on what I have learned in the last 6 months here is what I suggest...
If you are going to collect MOC, only stick with Mattel for now. I spent a lot of money getting some MOC flashbacks that are old like Big Boss Man, Diesel, Nash, Exclusive macho man etc, got them all on ebay for like $40-$60 each, but I HAD to have them so I got them. Any time a new figure comes out you want, make sure you get it asap either through a RSC preorder, retail, or amazon, otherwise you will have to pay more through resellers on ebays especially when they get harder to find.
I don't suggest collecting Jakks MOC for several reasons, for one, there are way too many to catch up with, I was interested in collecting the "Classic Superstars" line but there are WAY too many and you can't get them new for even an average price, they are all so expensive. So if you collect Jakks, I would just collect loose on those. But I think we all have confidence Mattel in the long run will release everyone we want, although I don't see them releasing more obscure characters like Jakks has in the past.
I too have a little DX collection, I have the Attitude Era DX Versions MOC of HHH, Billy Gunn and Road Dogg. Ready for Xpac to come out. I need a Shawn with DX attire though.

Welcome! It's a great idea to start getting one of each superstar, that's how I started , eventually branched out and now I have 5 different stone colds haha but starting with DX is a great start . I'd suggest WMXXX Shawn Michaels, E23 Triple H, E26 Road Dogg and E27 Billy Gunn, after that, you'll get hooked and go from there. good luck!

Well if you only want legends figures in would buy some defining moments, entrance greats and flashbacks from the elite line. The wrestlemania 30 exclusive bret hart and hbk are the best flashback figures i have, so i would recommend those aswell
if you want current guys i would buy some battle packs, new guys like bray wyatt, and guys you like and want AND WELCOME! Wwe figures are awesome and i hope you have a fun time collecting them

I lied. Went to get dinner at the grocery store and figured id atleast see what they had. They tend to always have some out dated or hard to find stuff because no one thinks to shop for toys at HEB. So here are my first three figures. Ordered E23 Trips today as well. Going to go hunting this weekend at other HEBs to see what I can find.

those are some great first gets in the shield. I'd throw in the elites of the wyatt family.

I would suggest any CM Punk elite you can get. Especially the Ringside exclusive figures. I have both the SES and ECW CM Punk figures and they are incredible. The SES Punk can be pricey, but if you have the opportunity to get it, don't hesitate. And with Trent Barreta being my favorite wrestler, I'm inclined to suggest his figure to you. It's a very sexy figure. There are so many punks, and trying to get just 1 of each superstar first - ive had a hard time figuring out which head scan/tattoo combo I liked the best. I will check out the SES one. That ECW one is my fave currently.

The attitude era dx is my big goal. It was my faveorite as a kid. I just missed the hulk/andre era and caught thetail end of the 80s. So my passion lies in the attitude era, even though I love some of the older stars like earthquake, IRS, jake the Snake, and old school bossman. I think im going to focus soley on Mattel and go loose on figures unless they are exclusives/limited runs. Those will stiay MOC.My wife gives me limited room to display my collections, so loose means more!

I got back into collecting pretty hot and heavy this year after only get a figure here and there since 2008. I have tried to get all of the Savages. Of course, I stupidly passed on defining moments at retail and can't find the t-shirt figure. But other than that, my collection has no focus. If it looks particularly good, it's someone I like, or I think it's going to be tough to get, I'll buy it. The pics of the Wyatt figs look great, but I've had them pre-ordered from Ringside since April and have yet to get them. In fact, I have over $500 in preorders over there. Made the mistake of ordering stuff that had different preorder dates and now they're all backorders I think. Anyway, I trailed off. I would suggest not driving yourself crazy by saying "I have to have all of these!" Just get what you like and you won't go nuts if you only have 472 of the 475 Cenas they've made.

Thats why my goal is quality, not quantity. Ive collected other line of figures before and driven myself crazy trying to get variants and re-paints. Im not doing that this time around. Ive been a fan of wrestling since I was 5 and I just want this one to be a hobby I enjoy and not one I feel the need to own every single possible figure on.

You're limited for attitude DX options with Road Dogg, Billy and X-Pac, but I'd go with the SummerSlam Heritage Triple H and for sure the WrestleMania 30 (well, WrestleMania 14) Shawn Michaels.
For CM Punk, if you're sticking to one figure, I'd say go with Elite 16. The head isn't great, but it's the iconic outfit.
For Undertaker, I think the SDCC WrestleMania 15 one is the single best. But one of the coat and hat ones from 2010/2011 is also very iconic.
If you want an attitude Rock, the Defining Moments is probably the best. But Survivor Series Heritage or the new Ringside Exclusive also do the job great.
For Stone Cold, I like the basic 29 one in the Austin 3:16 shirt.

If you can find this on the cheap I'd suggest Allstars two pack of SCSA v. Cm Punk. Two very iconic looking figures in one neat package.

SDCC Undertaker is a brilliant looking figure, expensive, but uber accurate. Would be great for a ministry set. But correct me if im wrong, not many ministry roster stars were made by mattel, if any?

Most of them don't have much merchandising value now. They didn't at the time, either. The Ministry was basically "Undertaker + lackeys" -- but the figure works well as a standalone piece in an attitude era display.

But I cant imagine Mideon or Viscera being hot comodities.

nice gets.
6 of the best figures made this year imo are the shield elites and the wyatt family elites.
I love the dbry elite just wasn't much of a fan of them using that attire on the basic too.
