I The story was flat.. The human characters seemed unenthusiastic.. Megan Fox was fun to look at, she was really hot as April O'Neil.. The Turtles origin would have been fitting for me if....(in white) Splinter hadn't found a martial arts book in the sewer and thought "I could learn this, we should learn this". And that's how they became NINJAS.. Lame. I really, really liked the Turtles themselves.. I think they worked great, they did justice to their personalities. The action sequences, the fight scenes, and almost everything involving the TMNT was a positive for me.. Shredder had some kick ass moves and Splinter was kicking major ass aswell. So because my main 6 characters were represented well for a Michael Bay produced Nickelodeon film, I wasn't completely let down. I mean I had low expectations anyway.. So I wouldn't have had far to fall. I have more complaints obviously.. Like how incredibly far they went from the source material.. I mean, I have more to say.. But that's the just of it from me right now. I've said pretty much all the positives. Oh yeah.. BIGGEST COMPLAINT OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE (in white): NO F**KING CASEY JONES!!! Seriously! That was very disappointing. If they do a sequel, I fully expect that to happen! And not once did I hear the line "man I love being a turtle"... All in all 2.5/5 stars (the point .5 is nostalgia)

Seeing the trailer again last night in 3D for it whilst waiting for GOTG reaffirmed my belief that the movie serves a purpose; just not for me. ..I appreciate your insight punksnotdead...my brother, who I saw GOTG with, hadn't seen the trailer for TMNT for whatever reason and said he'd like to see it - I imagine I'll go with him, as you did with the entourage you did; a sense of fun and camaraderie will help to lessen thoughts of disappointment, if only for a bit.

One of the best movies of the Summer. Everything I hoped for in a Turtles movie. There were some corny lines -- and audio issues -- other then that...one of the most enjoyable films of the Summer. Had a blast. GotG was the better movie -- TMNT was more fun. A lot more. Worst part was the talking kids throughout, in the audience. All the Turtles got their turn in the spotlight; Splinter did, as well. I actually dug Shredder. A good time, as a life-long Turtles fan, I'm more than happy with what we got here. The most important aspect was intact, and that's what I was most concerned about -- the heart of the Turtles. The FAMILY. The bond. It's there, in spades. Everything else that was changed -- was 'whatever'. Mikey and Raph were easily my favorite parts. Hell, the movie made me LIKE Megan Fox. Leo was under-utilized, but -- how many decades has he had the spotlight, now? One movie can let the others shine a bit more. I can't wrap my head around all the negativity these days. You're allowed to go sit in a theater, and enjoy a movie for what it is, without it being Oscar-worthy; A movie can be fun -- and have a positive message -- and that be it. Jesus.Oh -- and the effects for the Turtles, and Splinter, we're pretty damn on point. Gorgeous at times, even. People absolutely love Guardians and it's also a "fun" summer film. The negativity is coming from the movie not being very good. When people spend money to go see this stuff they have every right to complain imo. I think Word hit it, as I voted the film a 5/10 on IMDB, but there were tons of problems with this film that you didn't even have to look hard to find. I've been positive all summer about stuff, Cap, Guardians, 22 Jumpstreet, Planet of the Apes, Edge of Tomorrow was brilliant, X-men, Spidey, Neighbors, we've gotten some really good and great stuff, but I'm not going to be apologetic for not liking a movie that didn't seem to try very hard for me, who has dedicated thousands of dollars to being a Turtles fan for more than 25 years.

Just finished seeing it. The Turtles really did their stuff in the movie. I liked it....could've been a whole lot better. The Eric Sacks character was a waste of space. Vern Fenwick was ok...but unnecessary.
6.5/10

Michael Bay is a toy selling monster.. He might make sub-par action flicks.. But by god, the amount of merchandise that guy helps sell is ridiculous. There wasn't too many new Transformers toys for the new movie.

Speaking of toys, I actually quite dig the figures for this movie, particularly Raph and Shredder. I may pick those two up, at least...

Whether there will be sequels or not depends on its Box Office IMO.......and that wont be too hot IMO because GOTG is PIPIN still. TMNT could end up in the same boat as Battleship when it was ignored in favour of Avengers. I will be going to see this with the younger squad in my family but man.....I'm disheartened now. Especially seeing that folks who were willing to give it a chance didn't like it. a few comments: 1. Michael Bay lost my respect when he said Armageddon was one of his worsts because blah blah blah....I actually enjoyed it more than 10 times any of his other works 2. The clip of the turtles in the elevator actually made me interested in the film when I saw a tv spot, because it was the first time they've advertised the true humor of the characters (big mistake in waiting so long in the process to show the FUN side of ninja turtles 3. Megan Fox was the wrong choice for April...not that she's bad, but you have to distance yourself from Transformers universe & to me, a big mistake....should've gotten Nina Dobrev (younger, similar look, but more of an "enjoyable personality/peppy when playing that way, but could've done well as freaked out by the situation" & I'm not a fan of hers, but she is the right choice. In the previews, Fox seems disinterested & lacking the enthusiasm in acting shocked. 4. I agree that this won't do as well as they hope & it's a shame that the turtles will prob flounder 5. Sometimes I look at the turtle designs & they're cool/fresh/interesting...shredder definitely is, but you know how you can look at a preview with too much CGI (sliding down a snow mountain & crashing into a car with no consequences) & you're just not excited about overuse of unrealistic CGI & rehash of the transformers blueprint 6. the voices needed to be people that were witty/quick/had good chemistry with unique voices....oh & Mikey needs to look less like Russel Westbrook

Seen it last night, and am honestly pretty upset at how bad it was. The action sequences were great, mainly the avalanche battle. I just thought it was a bit too boring. The origin of how they came to be ninjas was TERRIBLE, and the tie-in to April O' Neal was all too convenient. I mean, it took like 40 MINUTES to get into actual in-depth turtle stuff and that was a DRAG.
I think this is my lowest rated movie of the year so far. Which sucks because I've loved the Turtles since I was smaller, watched the cartoons, movies, and even watch the Nick series now. Oh well.

I really have kept thinking about this movie most of the day..
It made 25 million last night, if it holds strong this weekend, I look forward to the sequel.
I also think people are hating on this movie for the wrong reasons.. If you're going to hate on this movie.. Please come up with a better reason than "Michael Bay"... That's a lazy excuse to dislike this movie.
I didn't dislike this movie, but it had plenty to dislike.. There's a difference.

It DID have issues, and I really loved it for what it was. I mentioned the audio, I'm curious -- whenever a character spoke OFF screen, did they sound very hollow and have an echo to their voice, to anyone else? This is a SUPER poor sign of poor sound mixing/ADR work (when people record their dialog in a room after the movie's done shooting) -- I mean, it was bad in some spots like my very first movie I shot for less than 10 grand was bad in this regard -- so that irked me quite a bit. The first time we legit get to see the Turtles at all, in the Subway -- you can shoot that entire sequence to show them moving so quickly, and strongly, in the shadows -- without using that gut-wrenching camera shake on top of it. Not only could you not follow literally anything but Megan Fox's face -- but it was near sickening, and I don't get motion sickness. I'm very curious about something. The movie had reshoots late in the game. For forever and a day, Fichtner was known to be Shredder, and then suddenly a month or so ago, they're like "No, he's not Shredder." -- I'm curious if the back lash about certain things had them ultimately make adjustments (meaning they reshot basically the Dojo stuff with Shredder, since that was the only stuff really needing an actor, and that scene with Fichtner against Fox/Arnett)...WAS Fichtner going to be Shredder until late in the game? We will probably never know, but -- it really wouldn't have been THAT difficult to make the changes they did... Whoopi as the J. Jonah type character had me stoked, and still does, but -- she didn't get much to do, sadly. They REALLY need to hire someone to at least help write the script, who knows dialog a bit better. The scribe here clearly did their research and got the Turtles right -- but some of the lines, and some of the stuff to work with -- was just clunky. The movie isn't without it's faults. Those are the bigger ones to me...but I still stand by what I said. It's a damn fun movie. It wasn't made for those of us who grew up fans. It was made for the kids in the theater. As I told a friend earlier on FB -- the 6 yr old kid right in front of me with his family, who was cheering, and jumping up doing his kicks and punches with the Turtles each time they fought -- that warmed the hell out of my heart as a fan, and a filmmaker -- because that was me when I was six at home, wearing out the VHS. I probably went through 3 Secret of the Ooze tapes, and those first 2 movies had a hand in setting me on my career path. So -- when I see these kids cheering, and mimicking it, and talking about how awesome it was at the end -- I can't be mad at it's faults. It's not for me. It's for them.

Won't see this until it's released on DVD. But glad to see it's not as bad as people thought it was going to be.
Not a bit surprised that people are saying that Megan Fox was wrong for the April character though, either.

I went with a few friends last night, one of which is a die hard turtles fan. Whether or not the movie was good or terrible, he was going to love it. Even if Splinter molested a bunch of orphans, it wouldn't sway him.
With that being said, I had very low expectations. While I didn't think it was very good, I didn't think it was as terrible as I expected. I definitely think there will be sequels, but I don't have any desire to see them.
On the plus side, at AMC, I got a sweet Michaelangelo orange eye band with the purchase of my ticket.

I enjoy the fact that everyone's major concern was the representation of the Ninja Turtles themselves.. And now everyone (including myself) that have seen the movie think the best part of this movie was the classic personality and interaction of the Turtles. That was seriously my MAJOR concern when this was first announced.. Buy I loved them.. I love this new representation of the Ninja Turtles, and I love they didn't break formula for them.
Didn't like Raphael's dew rag though.. He should have had his classic look like the other 3.. HOWEVER, I did enjoy the updated Donatello. I thought the gear he wore really fit his personality.
