I really have kept thinking about this movie most of the day.. It made 25 million last night, if it holds strong this weekend, I look forward to the sequel. I also think people are hating on this movie for the wrong reasons.. If you're going to hate on this movie.. Please come up with a better reason than "Michael Bay"... That's a lazy excuse to dislike this movie. I didn't dislike this movie, but it had plenty to dislike.. There's a difference. isn't that always the way though man? The moment Bay was attached to this in any fashion it was: "WAHHHHHHHHHAHHHH BAY RAPED MY CHILDHOOD...........NOW HES GONNA DESTROY TMNT!!!!!!!" without even having seen an effin trailer. As I have said many times here the statement "Bay raped my childhood" is absolutely ridiculous. Even if I hated this(or the TF movies) It would NOT destroy my enjoyment of childhood memories with both properties...... People also seem to forget Bay injected HUGE life into the TF franchise with his "crap movies" All the great TF stuff we have gotten outside the movies probably wouldn't have happened without them...... The same will likely be true of TMNT if its Box office numbers hold. I'm also very glad to say I was wrong about GOTG really hurting it. Just goes to show with even more space it could been huge(might still be)

I saw this movie last night. For my perception, I thought the movie was good. I actually really enjoyed it. Shredder was bad ass.

I loved this movie even more than guardians. I understand it is nothing like the original turtles and it has its flawsbut people need to realize that now a days for movies to be a success copying the exact same stuff from your childhood is not going to do it. We got a good representation for the most part that a new generation of kids can enjoy and we will get a lot of great merch from this as well. I go into movies with no expectations especially with remakes. I have never been disappointed...

i don't like the movie because:
most of the characters look ridiculous: the Turtles look like Shrek rejects, the Footsoldiers look bland, Splinter is uh...., the only one (that i know of) Shredder actually looks pretty dang good
and
some of the casting choices: Johnny Knoxville as the voice Leanardo

I just going to wait to Netflix for this one. If you've seen a few Bay movies, you know exactly what it is going to be going in. Over the top big budget action loosely held together with explosions, bad dialogue and bad acting. And some of the spoilers I read are face palm worthy.

BEBOP AND ROCKSTEADY!!True story. SPBD has JoMo as Casey Jones in their upcoming ep against Kick-Ass -- if he does well, I wouldn't be against them using him in the movie. He's been getting into acting more, in fact I have a makeup artist friend on my next flick who worked on a movie with him, and she said he did well, and was really easy to work with/nice. Maybe he found his calling on screen. Bebop and Rocksteady ALMOST have me more stoked than Casey Jones...

He had the self control to drop all that weight -- I don't see much stopping him from putting muscle on.

Calling it: Taylor Kitsch as Casey Jones I'd be alright with that, actually. Poor guy catches a bad rep. He's better than the projects they've stuck him in.

I've said my peace with John Carter because I think it's a massively under rated film but he was great in Savages, Lone Survivor and especially the Normal Heart as his rebound act. Casey Jones is tied with Michelangelo for my favorite character, and getting one of my favorite actors to fill the role would be sensational. I'm not sure it's something he is willing to do though. After Battleship he was fairly vocal about wanting to stay away from those kind of films, and Turtles fits that bill. If he locks up that role for True Detective Season 2 I think he's going to be right back to being an extremely hot Hollywood commodity.

I thought he was good in John Carter, great in Friday Night Lights and The Normal Heart, and I never saw Battleship. I think he's a big enough name to bring buzz to TMNT2.

It'd be cool to see Krang & The Technodrome in the sequel too.

Maybe I can get Josh Peck as Casey Jones! He had the self control to drop all that weight -- I don't see much stopping him from putting muscle on. He's also the voice of Casey Jones in the new nickelodeon TMNT series. And the dude not only dropped weight, he got pretty beefy. He's in tip top shape.

Saw the movie Saturday. There was good and bad, but overall I didn't really like it.
The good: I felt like the CGI was seamless. The turtles looked like they really exist in real life. The voice acting for the turtles was well done. The voices for the characters. The personalities for each of the turtles were spot-on. They nailed that, which I did like. Meagan Fox is hot, and that's always good.
The bad: I was not a fan of the overall story. I don't wanna get specific because I don't wanna spoil anything, but the story is where the movie fell apart for me. Villains were poorly done, in my opinion. The Foot Soldiers were not ninjas, which I absolutely hate. The Foot Soldiers are supposed the be the evil ninjas the turtles beat up on. Also, Shredder's gear was overly complicated. In my opinion, less is more with Shredder. I didn't need Silver Samurai, I needed Shredder. I didn't really like April as a character. She came off kinda dumb to me in this movie. The movie also had a few spots where there were some really unnecessary explosions and you get that slow-mo, twisting metal sound effect.
The story and the villains were what really ruined the movie for me. I was even able to get past the look of the turtles. I still don't like it, but it doesn't really bother me that much anymore. Anyway, I went home and watched Secret of the Ooze. As cheese yay it was, it was my favorite Turtles movie.

Outgrew the Turtles, so it made no difference to me how the new movie turned out. Saw it due to morbid curiosity...
- Neat little twist on the origin story
- I kept hearing Splinter's voice actor, and couldn't get "Mickey from Seinfeld" out of my head.
- Megan Fox was a surprisingly decent April
- My one gripe was Will Arnett was miscast. The Vernon Fenwick I remember was from the 80s cartoon. Arnett was too "cool" to be that character.

Before I get to my thoughts on the film, I want to talk about some arguments people have had defending it. 1) Being made to sell toys is not an excuse to forget how to tell a good story 2) Yes, movies can just be fun without being anything deeper. But they still have to be able tell a story and, you know, actually be fun. 3) It's not about details being changed. Every version of TMNT has been different, and while I think this movie took it too far, the fact that they did it is not the problem. the problem is what those specific changes are. Also, while there has been argument that Bay was just the producer, this film still clearly had many of his hallmarks, and many of the very worst ones. Onto the movie: I don't even know where to begin. They added all these new links to the characters, while taking more important ones away. The Splinter/Shredder connection being gone was incredibly sad, especially since they barely even explained how Splinter knw who Shredder was.
Shredder was a nothing character. Barely even a presence. And why did his magnets only attract his blades? That's not how magnets work!
Though he was still better used than Karai, who litterally could have been anyone and the role would not have changed. As a fan of Karai, that bugged me.
Vernon Fintwick embodied everything I hate about frat culture. He continuously hit on a girl that clearly wasn't interested, thought she wanted sex when she called him, and almost killed them staring at her ass. Mickey wasn't much better in his infatuation. But at least he has the excuse of not having socialized with anyone but Splinter and his brothers before. It also bugged me everytime he pointed out how ridiculous the situation was. I'm so tired of that winking mentality in telling stories. Yes, I know it's a crazy premise, I don't need to be told several times throughout the film.
April was ambitious which is good, but it was stupid ambition. After they threatened her (also that chain pull would have seriously hurt her, yet it magically didn't), she took another picture of them. On top of that, the picture wasn't even one of the things she showed her boss in that insane rant.
The Turtles barely had personalities. Raph suffered least from this, but his whole thing at the end wasn't really built up. Donnie being a nerd meant broken glasses, tech gear and techno babble, and the fact that he name dropped TNG. Apparently he was still in the 80s. Or maybe 2004, since he said he had pimped out the turtle van. And Splinter turned out to be a Weeaboo. H had no actual connection to Japanese culture or ninjitsu, but was still turned into a walking stereotype.
Fichtner went from bland to insane the second he was revealed as evil. Given how much I like him, his role is really a shame. Also the "Like stupid rich" was awful. And why did April have a "He killed my father" voice over right after he flat out said that's what happened.
Not to mention how stupid the plan he and shredder had was. A secret plan to dump poisonous gas from the TOP OF YOUR BUILDING!!! Did they not think that people might see where it came from? Not to mention they moved forward with said plan before knowing if they could actually separate the mutagen from the blood. You would think that would be an important thing to know, given it was the point of their plan.
And then there's the foot. A secret ninja street gang is crazy enough, but at least secrecy is part of the point for ninjas. How in the world do you maintain a secret paramilitary force that size? There's no possible way that wouldn't have been found out long before the plan could be implemented.
My biggest complaint is that not only were the turtles massive, which was bad enough, but they were also strong enough to throw shipping containers, could crash into the side of a Humvee and destroy it without being hurt, and were bulletproof. What real danger where they ever in?
If you enjoyed it, I'm glad for you. But I just can't understand. It wasn't a well told, or even a fun, story. The jokes fell flat, the action was sub par aside from couple of scenes, and there was no sense of actual danger. All of these problems are just highlighted by the fact that the current cartoon is telling some of the best stories of the entire 30 year franchise history. This was the exact opposite of that. Thanks for giving me a place to rant.
