I don't know what everyone thought about the release of the recent debut Mankind but I saw it as a small wrestling figure miracle. It was rumored to be a TRU exclusive but the promotion never saw the light of day. Then out of no where he pops up on Amazon and later in our mailboxes.
After Mick left the company and reading online that the figure was unlikely to hit retail I was pleasantly surprised.
Can anyone else think of a figure with a similar story?
The only other example I can think of was when the Spike Dudley figure was released with the hardcore title. When that first popped up on the forums I thought it was a hoax.

E29 as a whole Not because of the unlikelyhood of the figs being released but the fact that B39 hasn't even hit around here yet

I never thought we'd see the return of Defining Moments, let alone in retail again. Ric Flair and Mattel changed that. With big names like Sting, and Hogan coming later on in the series, Defining Moments is here to stay for a while.

I saw one carded version of this unmentionable figure and that's it. I remember there being a rumor that one case shipped to a mattel store in Texas but you'd think that more than one moc version would have surfaced. I don't think that constitutes "hitting retail".

Im amazed that trent barretta got a figure. Thought for sure he would suffer the same fate as tyler reks.
Still really cool that jakks released terry taylor in the tna line.

For me it would have to be getting Demolition Crush. I figured we would never get it after 4 years passed since we got ax and smash. But thankfully mattel let us complete the team

I've seen two, and apparently there's at least one more. At least two or three cases did hit "retail", but I think it was just the Mattel store, same as how those Toys R Us Mankinds turned up at a Mattel store a year ago. As for a figure that did see official release ie was available worldwide without the secondary market, then I'd go with the RSC Exclusive CM Punk. When we first saw it on a display and were told it had been scrapped for the Nexus Punk, we didn't think we'd ever be able to own it.

Just because of Vince's hatred for Macho Man I never thought we'd see him. But after he passed away, WWE jumped aboard and has been making a killing in Macho Man merchandise.

Where'd you get your info from and do you know the whereabouts of the second moc one (not the one that the guy got signed). Where would I see a pic? What makes you think there's a third?

A couple that will soon be at retail, Doink I wanted badly and even though Mattel said they might do him I had my doubts, kinda a believe it when I see it deal and I was shocked we got Crush and JYD as well. It's so awesome that I ended up getting all 5 of my Matty poll selections. Bundy, Liz, Crush, JYD and Doink.

I was surprised when we got a Mattel Randy Savage. Jakks had a long run and never was able to come out with his figure.

I never thought Andy Kaufman would get a figure. Think about it: Andy F'N Kaufman has an action figure. That in and of itself proves that old saying of "Never say never"
