At the request of my brother, I just finished watching ASM2... Let's just say that I was like this the entire time:

I don't think IMDB would be the first to break news like that.

As far as I'm concerned Peter Parker is Spiderman and visa versa. End of.

What the are they talking about? Marvel is working with Sony yeah? So why is Sony racing Marvel to do anything? If this was just a Sony project then Andrew Garfield is still Spider-man, but it's not. Also, nobody knows who Miles Morales is because Spider-man has been Peter Parker for 50 years. Give me a break. "Our movie may suck but look how politically correct we are!!!!" Seems like nonsense to stir people up.

The way to do it, if they're determined to have Miles Morales, is to give the new Spider-Man actor at least two solo movies, and then make him pass the torch. I understand why Sony wants to do it.

Now that is surprising....but I don't really see it myself. I guess Marvel/Disney COULD want MM to be Spidey but I just don't see it personally.
I guess we will just have to wait and see!!

You know what would be really cool, guys?
Peter Parker. Looking like he did in the comics, doing what he did in the comics. Just sayin.

Seems like nonsense to stir people up. Nobody that reads the comics knows him. But in the comic world Miles Morales is pretty popular amongst the readers that's why it's been said after the Secret Wars arc Miles is gonna be the main Spider-Man. Which I get. However, there are only roughly half a million active comic book readers out there. So Wednesday warriors. I would say roughly 5-6 million people went to see ASM2 at the theater, without doing too much math or research. So assume every single comic reader, who presumably knows about MM, went to see that movie, they only account for 20% of the viewing audience. Then even if they know who Morales is, we are also assuming they like Morales more than Peter Parker. I've been reading Peter Parker as Spider-man since 91. So 20 years of reading, 3 or 4 animated shows, multiple video games, and 5 movies with Peter as my Spider-man. I'm not alone here. Now, if they go the Cap/Winter Soldier route where we see the transition, maybe? I guess. But why? Morales is literally bitten by a spider and becomes Spider-man virtually the exact same way, obviously with the Peter's blood/dna torch passing. Bendis is fantastic. So he's given that character life, but he also crushed Ultimate Spider-man when he was writing Spider-man as Peter. Again though, we're talking about the hardcore demographic, niche, within a movie going audience. If this was Deadpool, a following built almost primarily off that hardcore fandom, I could see it. However, this is Spider-man, one of the most beloved characters of all time and largely by people who have never even read a comic book. Financially it doesn't make sense. If Sony really wants to present their first go-round with Marvel/Disney as this huge politically correct move in what will largely be viewed in a negative way by the fanbase, they're stupid. I had zero issue with it, but we saw people FREAK OUT over a black dude in a Stormtrooper outfit, without even having any context haha. This is going to piss people off way worse because there is more than 50 years of context for Spider-man. Hey, I'm dying to see Wally West or Kyle Rayner get spots as Flash and GL in a movie adaption. I don't really ever expect that to happen though. Barry Allen and Hal are those characters. This to me is about the equivalent of making a Catwoman movie and not using Selina Kyle. Pretty sure that didn't work out.

I say if they want racial equality then just give War Machine & Falcon bigger key roles. Both Don Cheadle & Anthony Mackie are fine actors and I would have no problem with one of them be the one to finally defeat Ultron or even Thanos. This isn't about race as much as it's about staying true to the characters we all know and love. If Matt Damon was War Machine I'd be here bitching bout that too.
I say cast some younger kid (Lets say Logan or Dylan) as Peter Parker. Let him do the Marvel & Sony films. After the Thanos, symbiote, & Sinister Six stories have ran their coarse you can have him pass the torch to a younger kid to play Miles. And then they can introduce Agent Venom and some of the other newer characters. But you have to lay the groundwork first IMO. And to me that starts with a dorky little white kid from New York.

Please god, don't let that be true. Having Spider-Man without Peter Parker would be ing moronic. What the hell is with Sony's hard-on for changing character's races constantly? I'm all for racial diversity... but there's just no need for this, at all.

I'm all for racial diversity... but there's just no need for this, at all. Because Sony had a few racially insensitive e-mails leak during the hacking between Amy Pascal and other executives at Sony. Got quite a bit of media attention and black rights leaders.. Right now they have a "new" partnership and platform to debut a black Spider-Man.. They get to show they're back on track because their working with Marvel Studios and they get to make the final casting decision of one of the largest superhero characters of all time. If Sony makes Spider-Man black they are going to have their cake and eat it too. It's kinda ridiculous.. This is one of the reasons I wasn't happy with the Marvel/Sony deal.. Sony comes out looking great when in all reality they ing suck.

A black spider-man? Come on, no need to change what's not broken. People want to see Peter Parker with the Avengers. Damn it!

Why can't there be two Spider-Mans? Give the majority what they want with Peter Parker while at the same time letting us ease into Miles Morales. They don't need to replace anyone with anyone.

This would work for me.. Have Tobey Maguire come back as an established Spider-Man to hand the mantel over to a young black actor playing Miles Morales.. Or maybe Marvel has their own version of Spider-Man for The Avenger films and Sony has their own Spider-Man for the solo Spidey films.. Which would be a terrible idea.

If they want Miles Morales it'd be a good idea to firstly reintroduce Tobey as Spiderman in the Avengers, then do a work up to like a Spiderman alternate Dimensions thing where they have to team up to take down a huge threat (like the Spider Carnage story in TAS). Have Garfield, Tobey and Miles. Then move from there.
