Haven't watched it since Chris Rock hosted.
Do bands even still make music videos anymore? Serious question.

the last one I watched in full was when Fallon hosted and wow...what a surprise performance at the end! (even though Pink kinda ruined it on the red carpet)

I guess I'll be giving my Aunt a call to tell her that Christina Perri's video for Burning Gold was not nominated

Too much Iggy Azalea.
In all seriousness though, I won't be watching. I usually skim through it in case something crazy happens or for some impressive performances. Justin Timberlake's performance last year was a fantastic 15 or so minutes.

So I'm seeing reports Suge Knight was shot at Chris Browns VMA party? Any truth to this? Yes. Suge Knight has been hospitalized after being shot by an unidentified assailant at a packed nightclub in West Hollywood early on Sunday. The 49-year-old former CEO of Death Row Records, whose real name is Marion Knight Jr., was attending a party Chris Brown had hosted at the 1OAK club ahead of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, which take place later in the day. Several shots were heard and Knight and two other people were hit, police told E! News, adding that an investigation has been opened. "You could hear the gunshots very clearly," a witness told E! News. "The entire club hit the ground and people were being escorted out with their hands up. Chris' entourage covered him up pretty quickly and were pushing him out the door to get out. I did not see the gunshots but saw Suge Knight walking out and getting into the police car. Obviously the whole place was pretty shaken up." Knight was treated for his injury at a hospital, where he underwent surgery. As of Sunday morning, he is in stable condition, authorities told E! News. Knight's injures are "non-life-threatening," NBC Los Angeles quoted officials as saying. The outlet also reported that the other two people who were shot are a man and a woman. It is unclear if Knight was the target of the shooter, who is still at large. No arrests have been made. "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes," tweeted Brown, who performed at the club and was seen leaving and getting into his car after the shooting. The singer is nominated for one VMA this year and had hosted the party to celebrate the release of his upcoming sixth studio album, X, as seen in a photo he posted on Instagram . While he touted the gala as a "pre-VMA party," it was not unaffiliated with MTV, a network rep said. Why does MTV still have this?

So did anyone watch?
I thought the show was pretty solid IMO beyonce was easily the best performance of the night.Iggy Azalea was actually pretty good as well.Miley Cyrus had a nice moment as well.Overall I give this a 3/5 wish we had more good performances though.

Every single goddamn artist lip-synched. What the hell is the point of this terrible "music" awards show?

Lorde wins Best Rock Video with Royals, what a joke. Granted the other nominees are crap but Royals certainly isn't rock.

It's all mainstream music that is for the most part terrible. I wish there was a music awards for good music and under-appreciated artists and bands that are actually good. I'm not saying all the music today in mainstream is bad but 80% of it is. To some maybe even more. But I'll never understand who decides who gets nominated. When it comes to movies it's easy to understand because of it's categories but for songs I don't get how someone can possibly decide that because you can admit why a movie may have won an award even if you don't like it but that's not really possible to do with a song unless it's between a song that's say from lil Wayne and the other is Elton John, of course Elton is gonna get nominated instead of Wayne. But it's whatever
