TMMLP2 is probably my third favorite Eminem album ever. I thought it was as good as the stuff he was doing from 99-02, some of it is better. I stood in the front row for Eminem on the Anger Management tour back in 2000 and that pretty much solidified me as a fan for life. I do think he went through a creative slump of sorts for a period of time, or at least he got to the point where he was just kind of mailing it in, but I was wildly impressed with his new album.

Eninem is one of those guys you either love or hate. For a lot of true very oldschool Hip-Hop heads, we can't get into him. I have incredible respect for his lyrical and emcee abilities, but I will always hate his style. And his beats, for that matter.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd bump it to share his cypher. I don't mean to jump on the Eminem bandwagon, but it's crazy how people think he fell off or isn't as great as he was before. In his Shady days, he was always drugged up. He's a lot more mature now, and if anything, his lyrics have gotten even more fire. In fact, Relapse may be my favorite lyrical album of his. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but its almost a given FACT that Eminem is still lyrically superior over 90% of the rap game, especially for being 42 years old. Slaughterhouse also ripped this cypher, but Em straight up killed it, and there's no doubt he still has it. I've been a fan since I was 7 though so I'll admit that I may have a personal bias toward him haha

Plain, and simple. At this point, it's hard for me to find any justification for disagreeing that Eminem IS one of the GOAT, without there being some sort of prejudice at play. The dude delivers. And in this particular cypher, he's a monster. Far better than the majority of rap, today. In fact, I'd put it up between he and Tech as who's running the game, at the moment, and they're two of the oldest still working.

Not as a rapper. As a rapper I always appreciated that he was a beast, but as a man, he used to be scum. I don't even think he'd argue that, honestly. Dude had a lot of demons, and while music may have helped him stay alive, it certainly never helped him deal with them completely. But everyone deserves a second chance. And he has grown, and matured, both as a musician and as a person, over the years. I have respect for people who grow in what they do, and who work to fight their demons and change themselves.

While I've always been a fan, both as a musician and a person, I understand where you're coming from. And I think that's where he garnered all the hate from people, because he probably seemed like a stereotypical, young punk ass. But yes, Em has definitely come a long way in 15 years, and he's still going strong. I understand if people may not (have) like(d) him, whether it's because of his persona or his explicit/vulgar language, but people MUST at least respect how far he's come and his lyrical ability. You don't have to like the guy, and this may sound a bit shallow (going back to what I said before), but if you don't at least respect his lyrical creativity, then I believe your opinion is wrong and irrelevant lol

as far as him as an artist i love his work especially his really early work , you could tell how hungry he was i have promo copies of Infinite , the Slim Shady EP and D12 The Underground Ep to me after The Eminem show you could tell that there was something going on and the hunger wasnt there anymore but then again that happens with alot of artists and musicians especially after becoming really successful IMO the best song he ever wrote as far as Lyracism in his early Career is The Title track Of Infinite it to this day blows my mind everytime i hear it , if you hear it often people are like meh but if you read the lyrics while listening to it its insane its by far one of the most creative songs in underground hip hop as far as writing you gotta think how much time did he put into this one song alone

I have a black friend that told me he listens to Eminem only with me or by himself.. Never around other people, and that he can't admit to other black people that Eminem is probably the greatest rapper to ever step foot into the industry.. It was kind of funny but eye opening at the same time.. Because while I was aware that race was still a big factor in hip-hop/rap, I had no idea that black people actually frown upon Eminem.. I just love the idea that there are probably a TON of black people that have to listen to Eminem in secrecy though.. Because liking him might make you an uncle tom. He's like forbidden fruit or something.. One of the greatest of all time, "but we can't admit it to the black community" because white devil, white devil.

Has anyone listened to Shady XV yet?
The album is absolute fire. His best since Encore (and I've actually enjoyed his recent work)
