The end of Summer Vacation was awesome! My dad and I took the 5 hour drive from Toronto to Michigan to go figure hunting. We normally don’t wait until the very end of Summer Vacation, but due to a health issue, we thought we wouldn’t even have gotten the opportunity to actually go, but we were fortunate enough to actually do so. With lots of money saved, I was ready. WARNING! LONG POST AHEAD!
Day 1 – August 26, 2014
Our trip starts. Three thrift stores in Canada on the way had nothing. No luck yet. To make things worse, at the border, I feel this sharp pain on the side of my body. My dad notices a bee! I had just gotten my first ever bee sting.
We checked into our hotel, rested, then went back out to do some figure hunting within a few miles radius. I had set myself limits of how much I could spend each day. Today, I went over.. way over.
Wal-Mart on Ford Rd.
Picked those two up. I want to get all three members of The Wyatt Family in Elite form, so that’s 1/3. The Funko looked pretty cool, so I got that too.
Meijer on Ford Rd.
I had seen this figure in Toronto only at an expensive Toy Store, which they were asking $35. Obviously, I didn’t get it then, but got it now and for only $16.97!
Target in Canton
I like getting the Flashbacks, and Andre looks awesome!
Big Lots on Ford Rd.
These two sets didn’t get released in Canada, so I was happy to find them, especially at just $3 each!
K-Mart on Wayne Rd.
I really wanted the Flair DM, so I was happy to find it here. I got Los Matadores as well. I didn’t even know they were at retail already.
Toys R Us in Westland.
Another member of the Wyatt Family has arrived in my collection. Just need Luke!
Family Video
I was already past my limit, but couldn’t resist getting the Payback DVD for only $4.99 (nope, not $9.99)
Phew… what a day! It was only the first day, and I got all that stuff. We didn’t even have the venture off far for all that. Farthest store was like 5 miles from the hotel.
I will also include a “Store Count”, which will refer to the number of stores I go to each day, including stores I don’t get something at.
Day 1 Store Count: 9 (not including the three thrift stores on the way)
Day 2 – August 27, 2014 ~ Determined to find Luke Harper Elite!
K-Mart on Telegraph Rd.
This particular K-Mart was closing down. They even had this selection of Elites:
I didn’t get any Elites, but got the Sin Cara set for $11 and the Sheamus Thumb thing for $1.50. I also got a WWE poster with the bigger superstars from 2013 for $1.40
Toys R Us in Southfield
I had wanted to get 5 from the Summerslam Heritage set. They had 4 that I wanted, but only Triple H and Undertaker had good enough cards as I’m a MOC collector.
Target in Southfield
Elite Series 26 was released in Canada, but I didn’t want to pay $25 plus 13% tax for it, so I was happy to find it during my trip.
FYE in Troy
I don’t have a Blu-Ray player yet, but I got the WM 24 Blu-Ray anyway because as far as I know, it’s discontinued. I bought the Jake DVD because it has the mini book and was brand new for only $4
Target in Madison Heights
Big fan of RVD, so I picked up his basic figure.
K-Mart on John R. Road
Finally found the other three from the Summerslam set I’ve been looking for. The bobble heads also look pretty neat, so I got those too.
End of Day 2! Still no Luke Harper! Again, went a little over my daily limit!
Day 2 Store Count: 15
Total Store Count: 24
Day 3 – August 28, 2014 ~ Still looking for Luke!
Meijer on Fort. St.
Technically, I did find Luke, but I wanted his Elite! Still picked up the Battle Pack anyway.
K-Mart on Fort St.
This K-Mart was also closing down. I picked up both for about $7 total.
TaylorTown Trade Center
Picked up this rare DVD. It was in a glass cabinet. I asked the lady to open the cabinet so I could see it. I inspected the disc for any scratches. It was beautiful. Paid for it right away. No questions asked.
Family Video on Ecorse Rd.
Got MITB for only $4.99. Another decent deal.
Big Lots on Eureka Rd.
Picked up another set of these Rumblers. Might open it up for my loose collection.
Wal-Mart on Dix Toledo Rd.
This Wal-Mart had a mini display set up in a random toy aisle that I walked by. Fresh set was just put out. Picked up Edge and Khali.
Wal-Mart on Telegraph Rd.
I like the Superstar Entrances Series. No Macho Mans at this location, but picked up Sheamus
End of Day 3! Stayed under my daily limit!
Day 3 Store Count: 17
Total Store Count: 41
Oh Luke… come out, come out wherever you are!
Day 4 – August 29, 2014 ~ Just give me my damn Luke Harper Elite already!
Wal-Mart on Lyon Center Dr.
Finally!
Target in Fenton
This set of cards didn’t come out in Canada. Pulled a Sheamus Royal Rumble mat relic.
Wal-Mart on Owen Rd.
Ooooohhh yeah! A mint Randy Savage figure! A Wal-Mart a few days ago had four of them all bent up!
K-Mart on Miller Rd.
Please don’t laugh at me.
City Market
This was the same city market I went to back in March. The vendor gave me an awesome deal the last time, but someone else was filling in for him, so all prices were firm. He wouldn’t even give me 50 cents off! Oh well.. I’m still happy with what I got!
Wal-Mart on Highland Rd.
I like the accessories this came with. Also a big Sandow fan, so I picked it up.
Toys R Us in Novi
Hey.. it was only $2.98!
End of Day 4! Again, under my daily limit!
Day 4 Store Count: 18
Total Store Count: 59
Day 5 – August 30, 2014 ~ The last day of hunting!
Kmart on Ann Arbor Rd.
After picked two up before, I really like the bobbleheads, so I picked up Daniel Bryan.
Meijer on Middlebelt Rd.
I like the design on Kofi’s tights so I got him as well.
Toys R Us on 7 Mile Rd.
I now have a security guard for my room.
K-Mart on Orchard Lake Rd.
We don’t have K-Marts in Canada, so we can’t get this at local stores. It’s a relatively older set, but I still wanted to have it.
Dixieland Flea Market
We had just stumbled upon this Flea Market as it just happened to be on our route, but had no idea. Walked in and scored some great deals. The tall Orton was $3 from one vendor, from another, the Tom Zenk and Mattel Orton were $1.50 combined and the two Hasbros were $3 combined. Spend $7.50 for those. Great deal!
2nd and Charles in Auburn Hills
It was only $3 and I have never seen the game before, so I bought it.
FYE in Auburn Hills
Picked up the Blu-Ray for only $6.99. Thought it was a good deal considering how expensive Blu-Rays are in Canada.
Target on Browns Rd.
They had the whole set minus Drew McIntyre. I like Bray’s headscan. I’ve also met Santino quite a few times (he lives 30 minutes from me), so I can probably get it signed, which is why I bought it. The last time I met him, he actually recognized me and my dad!
And that’s my trip to Michigan!
Day 5 Store Count: 17
Total Store Count: 76
Thanks for looking and reading my post!
A group shot minus the posters:
Thanks again!
