I get the appeal of that match and always liked the idea. However, I feel that the perfect booking idea for the WWE would've been to have Punk enter WrestleMania 29 as Champion and defend against The Rock and John Cena in a Triple Threat match. 1. The WWE gets to have Rock/Cena and their money making ability main event WrestleMania. 2. They don't tarnish the "Once in a Lifetime" tag from the year before. 3. CM Punk gets to main event WrestleMania like he wanted to. 4. John Cena would be able to win the WWE Title by beating the two guys that had his number throughout his career, thus overcoming the biggest odds of his career. Tell me number four doesn't sound like a WWE wet dream? Keep Punk vs Taker with the billing of 500+ day champion vs 20-0 Streak vs streak Taker could've retired with the belt Don't get me wrong, I would've been ALL for Punk/Taker. I'm just saying the best course for the WWE to take as it keeps Rock/Cena, keeps Punk happy and Cena overcomes the odds.

Being as everyone knew Cena was going to win, they could've just had their rematch without the belt and furthered Punks reign until mania going against Taker with the championship streak vs WrestleMania streak with the Paul Bearer tribute and even more theatrics and I think you've got possibly one of the greatest WrestleMania main events ever then Taker could've retired with the belt, Punk would've got his main event, and then they could've had a great tournament to crown a new champion culminating in another great Cena vs Punk match and maybe Punk would still be around for us fans.

Yeah then the match with Rock/Punk doesn't mean anything because the long reign goes away. Ryback hadn't even had a real match at that point, he definitely wasn't ready to even touch the WWE title. If it were up to me I'd have had Punk keep it till Mania and face Taker, streak vs 500+ day title in the main event. I get the appeal of that match and always liked the idea. Tell me number four doesn't sound like a WWE wet dream? Yeah and if Punk got his main event he would probably still be here, and I'd actually enjoy the show a lot more. WWE gets Cena winning and I get my favorite star ever still on TV. Win win. I get the appeal of that match and always liked the idea. And Brock would have never beat Taker at 30.

A huge tournament though, not one that ends on the WM blowoff PPV. All superstars involved, but I do like your idea about Punk/Cena

Ryback shouldn't have won at HIAC......BUT he could have been booked a LOT better than he was. If the booking had been astute & forward thinking both Punk AND Ryback would have been enhanced.
But Vince has TOTALLY forgotten how to do this.

Even if he goes into the feud with the Shield, he should've won the Royal Rumble and faced a World Champion Big Show at WrestleMania 29. The road to twice in a lifetime could've happened in another way. Ryback ShellShocking Show to win the World Title would've been his WrestleMania moment. Boom, star created. Then, he could drop the belt to Dolph Ziggler cashing in Money in the Bank shortly before Dolph's year with the briefcase was up. So Ryback loses the belt but still looks strong since it would be a cheap cash in after an attack or something.

Always loved the name and potential for excellent set design. Plus it would stand out from other vents. Come to think of it... I miss set design in general. Stupid big screen.
