WWE's website has a new article up on John Cena's 10 biggest rivals. Below is the list and what they wrote about CM Punk's departure:
10. Kurt Angle
9. Triple H
8. JBL
7. The WWE Universe
6. CM Punk
5. The Rock
4. Batista
3. Brock Lesnar
2. Edge
1. Randy Orton
"It takes a bold, bold man to call himself The Best in the World without any hint of showmanship to it. CM Punk was nothing if not bold. The self-appointed heir apparent to Cena as the face of professional wrestling, Punk's agitation over being passed over festered into an earth-shattering "pipe bomb" that took Cena, the McMahons, and the institution of sports-entertainment itself to task. He then promptly won Cena's WWE Title and gallivanted off into retirement, but you probably don't need Wikipedia to know The Straight Edge Superstar couldn't stay away for long. He eventually came back to further challenge Cena's dominance and beat him more often than not. These two were having classic matches for years after that initial clash. Perhaps the greatest disappointment in Punk's untimely departure is knowing they definitely had a few more in them."

All I know is that the list is wrong.
1. Edge 2. CM Punk 3. Randy Orton 4. The Rock 5. Brock Lesnar 6. Batista 7. JBL 8. Tripe H 9. Kurt Angle 10. The WWE Universe
I put the Universe last because it's obviously not an actual wrestler, but an argument could be made that the fans are indeed his biggest rival and it could go number one.

Edge should be #1, Lesnar should be lower.
Not even gonna comment on the Punk snippet because this thread's gonna go down the sh*tter fast because of it.

Top three should be Edge, Punk and Rock. Orton being at #1 on a WWE list doesn't surprise me though, since they like to pretend that Cena vs Orton is the Austin vs Rock of this generation.

Edge should be number one, that feud was off the chain.

Well they aren't wrong. I kinda liked it cause it doesn't attempt to bury Punk, just states that his departure was untimely. And that Cena vs Punk feud still had legs.

How is Punk number 2.. Their feud was literally like 2 months with a match a MITB and SS. Orton vs. Cena had countless matches in tons of different stips. He's way before Punk. But its a tie between him and Edge

if you're going by number of matches....
Orton is easily #1. because they have faced of at least 2452363272141236721 times since they both debuted

Punk shouldn't be number 1 or number 2. They barely feuded. Orton vs. Cena deserves its number 1 spot with Cena vs. Edge extremely close behind. If the feud around Wrestlemania 25 didn't have Big Show mixed in than that feud would probably be number one since the two would have been given a Wrestlemania build feud together along with a Mania match and we all know it would have been awesome. Most people only say Edge should be number one because he was Cena's first real feud after winning the WWE title. He had two short feuds with Angle and Jericho/Christian but they were nothing like his feud with Edge that went on for several months with amazing matches and build to them. But other then that, Orton is clearly Cena's number one rival

Then in 2012 moved into a feud about respect that spanned a Triple Threat match at SS and a match at NOC. It was going to continue into HIAC until Cena got injured. And they had their classic in 2013. Also, think quality over quantity. Cena/Punk was much better for the time they had than Orton/Cena ever was just because "they had tons of different stips." I'll admit Orton/Cena never had bad matches, but they never reached the quality of Punk/Cena. The story between Cena/Punk was infinitely more captivating too.

This list is all over the place.
They failed to mention his US Title win over Big Show. Which was a fun and impressive feud.
As far as the Lesnar feud. Is this the feud back in the Ruthless Aggression days or current? I will never forget his line " You got the F-5? I got the F-U!!!" The Dr. Of Thuganomics was a great time to be a Cena fan.
However, his feud with Edge put him and Edge over the top. That should be number one. The ending was perfect.
Even his simplistic feuds with The Great Khali were fun. It showed off his inhuman strength. I will never forget his FU to Khali at One Night Stand.

Cena/Orton felt fresh in 2007, then got stale during their four straight Pay-Per-View matches in 2009. Again, their matches were never bad but never on the level of Punk and Edge's matches with Cena. Add in that Edge/Cena and Punk/Cena had much better story and build and you've got yourself a winner or two.

Totally forgot about their NOC match and it's true they put on great matches but I barely even remember anything that happened in the feud which is why I don't think it should be number 2. Nothing memorable like in the Orton feud where there was Orton Punting Cenas father, Cena giving Orton an AA on the top of HIAC, The titles unifying, The hour long Iron Man Match

I don't consider their Iron Man match memorable and I thought the match at TLC wasn't very good. Orton punting Cena's father lost it's value to me after he attacked his dad again years later. The HIAC was awesome though.

But its a tie between him and Edge Punk feuded with Cena from July 2011-October 2011 and from July 2012-February 2013, that's a total of 12 months, not 2. You also have to take the quality of the feud into account. Cena and Orton NEVER had chemistry, and adding in that they've appeared in 19 PPV matches together with only one that I consider actually memorable, says a lot. Cena and Edge had a lot of chemistry and out of their 9 PPV matches, I consider at least 4-5 of them memorable. Cena and Punk also had a lot of chemistry and out of their 6 PPV matches, I consider 3-4 of them memorable.
