Congratulations on getting the set for $5! I know I paid $25 when it came out, and I would open it, that Macho Man is one of my favorites to wrestle around and deliver massive elbow drops with.

They're all made from the same plastic. So I wouldn't care, no Mattel wrestling figure is truly 'rare'. They're all mass-produced. Go for it.

Yeah I open everything, often in the car before I even leave the parking lot. That's the one Mattel Macho Man I don't have yet, 5 bucks is an awesome deal, congrats on that. Plus, you are gonna want to swap out that awful JoMo head and you can't do that while it's MOC.

Congrats on the gets! Those are two of my favorite figures of each.

What does "collecting" have to do with opening? I am a collector and I open everything unless there was one I loved how it looked MOC...then purchased a second to keep MOC. But I collect for my pleasure I don't care about what kind of money it may or may not be in the future.

I'd open that in a heartbeat. What's it going to do besides collect dust?

Open it. If you want to display it open it carefully and then reseal it with tape.

The only rare Mattel figures are Tully, 1 of 5 Warriors, and an alien man w/ blue hair whom we don't particularly talk about.

I have a big loose collection as well as a big moc collection so I have opened some hard to find figures. Question, were the WWF LJN wrestling superstars mass produced?

The common misconception people seem to have, is they confuse "rare" with "hard to find". For example - "It came out so long ago, it's very rare to find on the pegs today."
On topic, I don't have any loose Mattels. I don't play or display loose. I think the packaging is part of the 'art', as it were.
