I don't really care much for this season but I'm not going to give up on it.

See I think that's the worst part. They have been throwing the cover songs up on iTunes. Seems like a desperate money grab knowing this is Langes last season. Since you quit last season, you missed a few painful musical performances. It is from the creator of glee..so not surprised at the money grab through musical numbers thrown on iTunes *no disrespect to the beauty that is Jenna Ushkowitz of course Wow I didn't know the creator of Glee is involved with this either. Such stark contrasts from thr first two seasons to Coven and Freakshow. It's gotten real campy

It's gotten real campy He also created & produced/wrote on 'Nip Tuck' - another show that had quite the drop in quality (if you ask a lot of fans)...he tends to lose interest in his projects after a few seasons & not that he doesn't seem to care, but the focus of his shows suffer (doing AHS made him leave glee to others & its drop off was drastic - doing The Normal Heart prob didn't help his focus on AHS) .

I love this season. I've loved every season. I love the songs. I love everything.

I'm digging this season a lot. The whole freak show theme fits AHS to a tee. Twisty and Dandy already have a huge fan following and it feels like each side story has a purpose and not thrown in for no reason. I loved the first 2 seasons of AHS, Coven was okay, and this season IMO has been on par with the first 2. Hopefully they can keep it up for the rest of the season.

I could do with out all the singing
but i POPPED for Edward Mordrake. I wasn't super sold on this season until his character, as I've read about the real Edward Mordrake prior to the new episode.

I'm actually shocked that all the seasons are connected and I knew something was up when sister Mary Unice was announced to return and pepper was back

I feel bad bumping this, but it's better than starting a new topic. Does anyone else really dislike the freaks? I don't find them relatable at all, and the fact that murder is their first answer for everything is apalling. If Twisty was still around to wipe them all out, or if Dandy managed to, I'd actually applaud them. The only characters with stories worth empathizing this season have been the villains (aside from Stanley, but at least he was charismatic) and Ethel.

Disappointed with the finale.
I'll start with the good. The Dandy massacre sequence was just as epic as it was shocking. Just pure finale material right there. Although, I thought the way he was duped by the twins didn't really add up to his character. The whole season he had been one step ahead of everyone. He was too smart to think that the twins would marry and love him after what he did. Just a really odd way for his character to be beaten.
The Elsa story was a huge disappointment... Right at the end too. I loved the Bowie cover and the return of Mordrake. But this is where it fell short. Let's start with the picky... I HATED that Twisty didn't have his evil look from the first few episodes. I know it's minor but I feel like his appearance would have been much more impactful if he had returned with the mask. But my true sadness was Elsa's fate. There was a grand opportunity missed with Elsa's final sequence. I was hoping that she when she went up to sing (in heaven not the TV special) that she wouldn't have her voice. Something along those lines to indicate that the heaven/afterlife/purgatory she was in wasn't really what it seemed. Because it shouldn't be. None of it made sense at all. I realize that open-ended conclusions can be intriguing sometimes... But this finale was not one of them.
I actually would have been completely satisfied with Mordrake just taking her soul as Heroes played and faded out with the camera. Oh well. At least it wasn't as bad as Coven.

It's just that the ones we got were so damn unlikable. Dandy/Twisty/Ethel were the best things about this season and only one of them made it past the halfway point

That was bull. They really didn't need to kill all the other freaks for that ending scene, I think it would have worked out with just Meep, Ma Petite, Salty and Ethel. After they killed off Twisty the only good episode from start to finish was the Pepper episode. That was brilliantly done.

While I liked Freak Show more than Coven, I still found the season as a whole to be pretty disjointed and not all that eerie as compared to Murder House and Asylum. I'd almost be tempted to say that this season became a slight parody of the first two seasons, especially since they chose to tie it back to arguably the most popular season in Asylum. I agree that the creepiest episodes were the first four that centred around the mystery of Twisty, who was a genuinely scary presence up until his origin was revealed. Ultimately something just felt off about this season. I think they need to dial back the character count for season 5 and I'm hoping the theme is something more in line with true horror and not a niche sub-genre. I've read a couple of rumours that next season might deal with a Slasher or Area 51. Those two themes have a lot of potential to be great and I'm still on board as even though the last two seasons were just alright, the acting remains fantastic across the board.

I've heard it has to do with the government experiment on top hat

I didn't care for this season very much. Like most season I think the story gets convoluted with things like Edward Mordrake this season & and in Asylum with the Killer Santa and Ann Frank.
I will say Dandy & Twisty was fantastic! Especially Dandy.

I hated the finale. I hate that essentially all was made right and that she was welcomed back in with open arms. Just lame. The Dandy sequence was awesome though.

Had a really hard time making it through this year. I took several weeks off and let episodes pile up on my DVR. By the time I decided to jump back in, the finale had aired and I was 7 behind.
I finished it the night before last, finally. I thought it got better late in the season, but it still didn't do a whole lot for me. The only characters I particularly enjoyed were Dandy and Twisty.
Seems like, for as great as Jessica Lange is, they keep shelving her with incredibly similar characters. She's the most talented person on the show, let her breathe a little.
