It was revealed during the SmackDown tapings that Daniel Bryan needs to have another surgery done on his arm. The Big Show made the announcement to start off the show, after which he led the group in a “YES!” chant to support Bryan.
Bryan has of course been out of action since June and has been in rehab ever since. It was hoped that he wouldn’t require a second surgery but obviously he will at this point. No word on how long he may be out at this point.

Well there goes my thought of him being on Team Cena at Survivor Series

Bryan having to keep getting surgery isn't a good sign.

Strange. The spoiler report says Big Show said he might need another surgery. Now sites are saying Show said he definitely needs one.

Bryan having to keep getting surgery isn't a good sign. I believe this is only the second. He had been putting it off in case it wasnt necessary. He doesnt seem like the type to take a bunch of drugs or steroids to heal quicker. Unlike super 2 month Cena

I'm calling Kayfabe. I'd inagine if it was that serious, that they would invite Bryan to make the announcement on Raw in person or via satelite. They wouldn't have the top draw have abnouncements made through third parties. If he isn't back for Survivor Series, he'll be in the Rumble.

I'm past caring about seeing him on T.V and more concerned about his health at this stage.
Never been as big a fan as others, but the guys really passionate so here's to a healthy recovery and surgery to him.

I mean, for something like this they'd either have Bryan himself or Cole come on and say that. Big Show making the announcement (of all people) doesn't add up to me.

I start to feel for the guy, but then I remember he's slaying this on the regular and my sympathy goes away.

Why would they announce this to the crowd? Wouldn't it only serve to bum them out? Seems fishy.

It wasn't done for "an announcement" and it wasn't done for TV -- it was a segment they did as a shout-out to send to Bryan for moral support.

I'm really hoping this is a red herring, put out by WWE in order to make it super-surprising when he returns at the Royal Rumble (& hopefully wins)
It seems like such a strange "announcement" to make, in such a strange way - I think they are just trying to spread the rumors....
I have great seats for the Rumble - so I'm hoping for an epic moment that a Daniel Bryan "surprise return" would provide....
About a week-and-a-half ago - Brie told someone that Daniel Bryan was ready for the Royal Rumble - then, that report quickly disappeared...

that's too bad, but let's hope he's ready for the rumble. that could be beneficial overall in terms of timing for a return.
