Roman Reigns is like 2004-2005 John Cena. Unproven in the ring, but clearly the next big thing. John Cena has proven himself as a guy who can get it done when it matters. His character is absurdly stale though. Maybe I'm running on nostalgia, but I think Cena was better in the ring than Reigns is. I feel that way too. I'm just saying that he was still relatively unproven.

I actually really really like Reigns ring work. He has this hybrid style of power and speed that comes off as so badass and totally up to the current times.
Cenas ring work NEVER impressed me until Recently. And even now I still think he's half assed and goes through the motions.

I dont think its Reigns fault its just how he may be booked that people have been put off by. we dont know 100% if they were gonna have him fill cena's spot, its just been a dirt sheet tale and people seem to be turning against reigns despite there being no evidence to support dirt sheet claims.

People are acting like Reigns is going to be the next big thing like John Cena is retiring next week.
John Cena isn't going anywhere. He still has a good 10 years left in the tank and you know WWE is going to milk every last second of it. WWE wont replace Cena until they get another cash cow that can match Cena in merchandise and drawing power. Reigns has not even close to proven himself as a money maker/draw yet.

Yup reigns is nothing like Cena IMO.
Reigns was pinned cleanly by Wyatt's Sister Abigail @ EC in Feb. Cena would have had to be hit with 15 SA's to be pinned.
so yeah they are nothing alike.

Before the anti-Cena comments 'reign' down upon this thread, I'd like to say something.. John Cena, whether any of you like it or not, is going to go down as one of the most famous wrestlers in the history of professional wrestling.. You can hate him, and get sick of him, or blah blah blah.. Whatever you guys wanna say about him. But in the past decade, John Cena has proven without a shadow of a doubt he deserves his spot.. His title reigns, all his wins.. He can work matches, work crowds, and work out! He is 100% the total package, he is a modern day Hulk Hogan, only better.. And in no way is that being used as a negative attack at Cena.. Because I didn't grow up on Hulk Hogan, but I am FULLY aware of the impact Hogan had. The WWE has layed on Cena's shoulders since Brock walked out, and dude has literally carried this company for more than a decade. I respect John Cena, and I hope Roman Reigns is up for that task.. He'll probably be a star, he'll be a champion.. But in no way do I think Roman Reigns has the ability to backpack the entire company for 10+ years /endrant That's a fair post but I don't and never will agree that Cena is better than Hogan. When it comes to crowd manipulation getting an opponent over? Hogan will always be better Im afraid. I also don't agree with peoples criticisms of Cena being described as "blah blah blah" but that's just me.

Same can be said for his defenders Word and their defence of his chronic weakness's for the last 8 years......some guys have the blind spot blinkers on for him. But this thread is about Reigns so I wont derail it any further. Vince needs to be careful with Reigns......but RR ahs shown a lot more weakness than Cena this year....so that's a good thing.

I rarely see any "blind spot blinker" defenders of John Cena, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to.. I respect the man for what he's done for the business and I enjoy his work from time to time.. John Cena is as close to a modern day Hulk Hogan that we will ever get.. You obviously can't recapture that Hogan spark that the Hulkster had, but John Cena has come as close as anybody. As far as Roman Reigns goes, I don't think it's right to crown your next franchise player before he's proven his worth.. Even John Cena had built credibility before he was handed the keys to the bus.. Reigns has been branded the next face of WWE without doing anything to deserve it yet.. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have proven more since The Shield broke up than Roman.. The problem I have with Reigns isn't with Reigns personally, but with the WWE's handling of Reigns by handing him the world..The guy does have potential and will definitely be a main player for years to come.. But the first thing that happened to Roman Reigns after reports said he was going to main event Wrestlemania 31 against Brock Lesnar was get injured.. I'm willing to give him a chance.. But the top spot in the WWE should be a competition instead of a backstage popularity contest..

I thought was very clear on that, it wasn't a veiled stab at anyone, I don't go in for that sh*t. As Mod of this board let me assure you they are here but are all on multiple warnings from the Admins for starting fights/trolling etc etc so they have been quiet. Same goes for the worst of the Cena haters. Yes Cena is as close as anybody will come to being a modern day Hulk Hogan. No doubt about it. His merch sales say that better than anything else. He has been the leader for YEARS now. This is why the much pined for Heel Turn for John will NOT come anytime soon IMO. I agree 100% with what you have said about Reigns. It was clear for quite some time while the Shield was still a unit that Vince had already chosen Reigns as his "guy"......this is why he was placed in the team with Rollins. he was placed in there to disguise his many weakness's while trying to improve. It was the perfect vehicle to get him over. But like you I do not think that Vince(and others within WWE) should have been so quick to choose. He may be doing as much harm to RR as helping him. They should have seen how things played out post breakup before leaping into something that is now difficult to reverse. But this is not the "thinking" Vince of the late 90s. This is "King Vince" and the Billion $$ Boobjob and they are never wrong unfortunately......for us.
