Just when I thought that Jim Carrey films couldn't possibly be any worse, he goes and does something like this... AND TOTALLY REDEEMS HIMSELF.
I just saw this today and absolutely loved it, it's rare that I laugh that much when I'm watching a movie. It exceeded my expectations in every single way, I think it's easily on par with the original. Now I just gotta hope they do a third!

I don't think it was as good as the first. In the first, they were a couple weird dudes in the 'normal' world. In this one, everyone else seemed as over the top as they were.
In that way, I preferred the first.
But I thought it was awesome. I enjoyed it, immensely. And I don't think Carrey has failed very much. Some movies he was in, weren't very good, but he tended to be awesome in them. Kick-Ass 2, Burt Wonderstone, and Christmas Carol come to mind.
Penguins, and Number 23, were rough, though. I'll give ya that.
Jim Carrey is a genius, even when he's not great, he's still better than 80% of Hollywood. When he's on, he's in the top 5% of talent.

I was moreso talking about his comedies, he was ok in Burt Wonderstone, but I haven't found him to be "Jim Carrey levels of funny" since Bruce Almighty in 2003. I wouldn't say that it was quite as good as the first (it IS my all time favorite comedy though), but it was pretty damn close, I can easily put this right alongside his best work.

I thought it was absolutely horrible.
I laughed at the farting scene and barely cracked a smile for the other 148 minutes.
It's like they remade the first film and removed everything that was funny about it.

I'm anxious to see this but I'm going in not expecting it to be as good as the first.

I went to see it last night with the wife and we both enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't groundbreaking by any means, but if you liked the first one you'll like this one as well.

I so wish you were right, I really do, but fact is, you aren't. I thought it flat-out sucked. I still rank the first Dumb & Dumber as one of the funniest movies ever and I can re-watch it anytime and it still doesn't get old. This one, however, I could barely get through the first time I watched it. It was cringe-worthy. It just wasn't funny to me and I thought the acting was atrocious. I really wish I could've liked or enjoyed this one, but I did not. They really should have left this one alone.

i thought this was funny
i thought the whole movie from the beginning to the middle was pretty funny. when it was getting closer to the end, it wasnt as funny for some reason
and also, Loyd and Harry dont even look like they got older which was pretty cool

Me and my Dad are a big fan of the first one, and as much as I hate to admit, the sequel will probably not even come close to the first one's genius comedy.

I know I'm going to be disappointed but I'm still looking forward to seeing this.

-- It definitely had it's moments! I found myself crack up a few times. The plot line hit home with me, since I'm in the same predicament - but still, even the resolution at the end, I laughed at.
I'm not one for modern movies that come out, but this one I liked.

-- Oh and if anyone does go see it, if you sit through the credits, there is a quick scene afterwards.

I decided that the best way to go into this movie is with zero expectations, which definitely helped me to enjoy this more. I don't think it was as good as the first, but I think it's definitely a worthy sequel. It was more over the top, but the fact that Carrey and Daniels came back and gave it there all was enough.

Admittedly, I wasn't a huge fan of the first, and this one felt fairly similar to me. I saw it with friends who really wanted to go, and didn't really like it much. If you liked the first one though, I can understand why you'd appreciate this one.

I didn't hate it at all. But I didn't love it either.
My biggest complaint is they completely "Hangover Two'ed" it!! The formula was almost the same as the first one. Long road trip. Bad guy hitches a ride. Comedy ensues. Bad guy inadvertently dies. Trip is all for nothing. But they inadvertently save the day. They go on oblivious to it all.
I will say I hope this isn't the last we've seen of Carrey/Daniels together. I'd be up for another shot of Harry & Lloyd.
